The Leaky Cauldron was a pleasant little pub very close to her work, and it was the same place that she decided to visit that night. After getting off of work at the Daily Prophet, Tamara began her walk from the building to the pub that was a bit down the street, her long black slacks paired with a white blouse and black dress coat showed off much of her curvy figure. Her heels clicked against the ground as she walked, long brunette hair swaying down her back. She had a look of seriousness on her face, something that usually stopped people from talking to her, but sometimes she was wrong. And it wasn’t long before she entered the establishment and the smell of the familiar alcohol filled her nose, along with the sounds of talking and laughing. She moved towards the bar where the familiar bartender sat, and she smiled at him, “The usual,” she breathed out as she sat down and placed her chin against the palm of her hand which was firmly set on the wooden counter by her elbow. Her boyfriend could have met her if he had known she’d be here, but she didn’t tell him. He was probably working anyways, plus, sometimes a girl needed time to think, alone.

It wasn't often Cyrus found himself on the side of town where the Cauldron was. He usually spent his time either in the heart of London or traveling around with his team. So when he found the time to actually venture out toward the Leaky Cauldron, he took the opportunity. The small pub had always been a personal favorite of his, and he had heard recently that Professor Longbottom had been hospitalized due to illness, and he loved the Longbottom family who owned the inn so he would do anything to support them any way he could.
The former Slytherin entered the main area of the pub, thinking it rather busy as he looked around and heard all of the talking and laughing. He was glad to see business there was still doing well. Cyrus headed up to the bar with intent of just ordering a few drinks and when he was just there, someone walking past him bumped into him a little too hard causing him to knock into the back of a bar patron sitting at the counter. "Oh, I'm terribly sorry," he immediately turned to the person he had bumped into.

It was just her luck, that today the moment she received her drink and gently picked it up with delicate fingers, that someone bumped into her chair. The moment the drink spilled, luckily just on her fingers and arm, was the moment a small groan left her lips. Quickly she grabbed some nearby napkins and began to sop up the drink with it, that she heard the voice of a male come from behind her. Immediately she let out a forced laugh and plastered on a smile on her pink lips as she turned to address the male. “It’s fine. My day couldn’t have gotten worse; the fates have it out for me today,” she said as she quickly placed the drink back down after whipping it off of any remaining liquid that spilled. Her fingers were sticky, or at least, they were going to be in a few seconds, so she quickly reached into her purse to grab the hand-sanitizer that she usually carried, of course, it wasn’t there. She breathed out a sigh; it was just that type of day. Though there was the worst day in the back of her mind that still haunted her, watching someone she cared about to die before her very eyes, that would take the cake as the worse day in the history of Tamara’s life.

Cyrus watched, a guilty look on his face, as the dark haired woman before him wiped up the drink he had caused her to spill. He felt terrible, and cursed himself for not stopping himself sooner. The woman explained to him though, that it was fine and from the rest of her words, Cyrus deduced that the girl was not have a good day. He knew that feeling well, and it only made him feel a little bit more guilty that he had aided in making her day more terrible. He noticed her reach into her pocket, maybe for something to keep wiping the drink off of her hands, only to come up empty handed. That was when Cyrus reminded he had a little packet with a wet wipe inside his back left pocket leftover from lunch. He quickly dug it out and offered it to the woman with a kind smile. "Here," he said handing it out for her to take. "I'm terribly, terribly sorry. Could I get you another drink? It's honestly the least I could do."

There was no doubt in her mind that because she was reaching into her pocket and retrieved nothing but air, that this guy probably thought she was a bit insane. Or at least, that is what she thought he would think. Already thinking about excusing herself, telling the guy that everything was alright, and heading to the bathroom to wash her hand, she was stopped. Maybe it was the fact that he pulled into his pocket himself, a bit of worry reaching into the pit of her stomach. What was he going to pull out? Instead, the concern was snuffed out and internally laughed at as he produced a packet of wet wipes, and she smiled as he handed on to her, his handsome smile plastered upon his face. She liked when guys smiled, especially when her boyfriend did while they laughed, it just looked nice. Guys were always too serious, too strong, but when they showed the love and happiness that hid deep inside, she fell head over heels. That was what happened with Ethan, and then it happened again when he was hurt, and she got to know his best friend, her current boyfriend. “Thank you,” she said as she delicately took it and began wiping off her hands, even going back to the counter once more with it. She knew that the bartender would probably wipe it later, but she was a nice woman. She made the mess; she cleaned it up. It was how she worked. It was as she was wiping the counter that she finally heard what the male said from behind her, apologizing once more. Even offering to buy her another drink. “It’s fine. But I wouldn’t pass up another drink if you are offering, you are also welcome to join me if you’d like,” she said with a smile before making a small joke. “I promise it is not a revenge plot against you,” The joke had come out with a grin on her face before she put her hand slightly up to get the attention of her friendly bartender who quickly came over towards her. Of course, when she says quickly, it meant a few moments as he was finishing up serving and making drinks of the patrons where he was currently standing.

Cyrus watched with a slight grimace as the girl cleaned up the small mess. He felt awful of course, but the girl seemed friendly and didn't seem to mind too much. He quietly thanked Merlin to himself that he hadn't bumped into a witch of a woman. Cy smiled kindly as she invited him to join her. "Of course," he nodded first to confirm the offer he had given her before sitting down and accepting her own offer. He let out a light laugh at her joke as he watched the bartender finish up with his other customers. "I'm Cyrus Ellsworth," he said extending a hang for her to shake. When the bartender joined them from behind the other side of the bar, Cyrus nodded in 'hello.' "Beetle berry whiskey, please," he said before turning to look back at the stranger to prompt her own order.

Tamara smiled brightly at the male as he took her offer of joining him. Her eyes quickly snapped towards looking for the bartender, but quickly took note that he was finishing up with customers. She noticed that the male next to her had done the same before turning his attention back towards her, and while extending his hand to be shaken he introduced himself as Cyrus, she smiled before accepting his hand and gave it a quick shake, a smile still on her face. “I’m Tamara Finch,” she said in her introduction before their hands fell away from each other in comforting silence, a silence that disappeared just as the bartender quickly returned over to them to take drink orders. Cyrus ordered first before his attention turned towards her, and she went to order her usual but decided against it, and quickly smiled, “You know what, I’ll have the same,” she said with a smile, watching as the bartender nodded and went to make the drinks. She turned to look at Cyrus, “It sounded better than what I was going to have,” she said with a shrug as if he were going to question her.

Cyrus smiled kindly as he shook hands with the brunette who introduced herself as Tamara Finch. For a moment, Cyrus swore the name sounded familiar. He Slytherin alum grinned when Tamara ordered the same drink as he did. "It's a great choice, you won't regret it," he said just as the bartender brought them their drinks and set them down in front of them. Cyrus picked his up and took a sip before setting it back down and looking back at Tamara. "So, Tamara, what do you do? I hope you don't mind my saying, your name is awfully familiar to me." He raised an eyebrow curiously at the brunette.

After she ordered her drink and the bartender disappeared, Cyrus was quick to tell her it was a great choice and that she wouldn’t regret it. She laughed a bit, “I’ll hold you to those words,” she said with a smile on her face. She wasn’t one to try new things. Usually, this was a change for her, and she enjoyed the thrill of wondering what she was about to get herself into. It wasn’t long before the bartender returned, placing both drinks before them, and she brought it closer, taking a sip of the unknown substance. And surprisingly, it tasted nice. Glad to know it wasn’t made of beetles, and she smiled. “Well Cyrus, seems like you have good taste in your drinks,” she said in an amused tone. “Uh—I work for the daily prophet, just an intern for now, but you know,” she said with a shrug. “Though if you attended Hogwarts, you could know me from there. I graduated just last year, but I was on the Hufflepuff Quidditch team…” she said with a soft laugh.
