overall personality:
Ryo absolutely comes off as an energetic kid. He had a lot of energy to spend and he has an excitement about life that most people seem to lose over the years. He loves playing around and laughing with people that he likes. He does have a genuine like for school though and takes his classes seriously, most of the time anyway. His classes currently aren’t challenging enough for him so he gets the work done easily enough and spends his other time hanging out with people or satisfying his curiosities. While his curious nature can place him in situations he probably shouldn’t be in, he isn’t reckless and knows when he shouldn’t pursue certain pieces of knowledge.
Ryo can definitely be flirtatious. He is cute and has a charming smile. His only drawback is that he is terrible at it. He often doesn’t know what past his comment on how pretty or handsome he finds the person he’s flirting. Then there’s awkward silences and awkward looks and it all just ends up blowing up in the end. He does genuinely care about people, especially those he’s closest too. He feels like he makes acquaintances rather easily but he does separate his acquaintances from his friends in his mind, knowing who it is he can actually depend on and who those people are that he just likes having fun with.
One of his favorite things to see is how people react to one another. Watching people argue has always been one of his favorite past times because watching people struggle through their emotions to explain their point of view logically is always funny. And yes, people might not find it funny at the time, but he sure does. He’s a nice guy overall, optimistic and excitable.

history:
Ryo was the first born of the set of twins to Kincho Ichikawa. She was to be a single mother to the twin boys and immediately after birth, Ryo proved that he was going to be a handful. He was restless, even as a baby, his eyes darting around in an attempt to explore the world around him. His motor functioning developed quickly and he was swift with grabbing at whatever was put in front of him, whether it be toys, food, paper, a wand, practically anything. Kincho could not leave the boy alone for long before he would get into something he wasn’t supposed to be in. He was the twin she had to keep the closest eye on, making sure he didn’t do anything to put himself in harm’s way.
Ryoma began exhibiting signs of magical ability directly after his fifth birthday. Because of the winter weather, Ryoma had caught a cold. He sneezed so hard that he changed his shirt several different shades before it finally settled on the color pink. He laughed so hard that he coughed and changed it back to its original color. While his mother had been delighted at the show, this also worried her because she had two children who would be performing accidental magic around the house. She was worried for what things would be broken and how the house would suffer from the magical attacks.
It was just a short year later that Kincho met Philip and fell in love. Ryoma loved him immediately, looking up to him as if he was his real dad. Their mother had never really told them anything about their real dad and their real dad had never come around so Ryoma didn’t know what to think about him. Philip was kind and loving and everything that Ryoma imagined a real dad would be like so he really looked up to Philip. Because he never felt like he was missing out on anything, Ryoma never really missed or wanted to know anything about his real dad. Every time he’d asked, anyway, his mother would say that his dad was a wizard that she used to know and she would tell him not to ask anymore. Philip was the only dad that he needed. Soon his mother became pregnant and gave birth to his youngest brother, Hiro. He was proud to be a big brother, wanting to teach his little brother anything that he could. His mother would scold him sometimes too because she worried that he was being reckless with the baby so he made sure that he moved slower and was more careful. It was his baby brother, he didn’t want to hurt him!
The day after his eleventh birthday, Ryoma received his Hogwarts acceptance letter. His mother had already told him that it would be arriving soon so Ryoma had taken to checking the owl mail every time it came around the date of his birthday, getting to the mail before his mother could. Closer to the start of the term, they all went shopping. It wasn’t as if they hadn’t been on Diagon Alley before then but somehow the impending school year made everything more exciting for Ryoma. He practically ran from store to store, leading to constant pleas from his mother to slow down. When the day came for the twins to board the train for school, his goodbye to his mother was quick and simple and he was the first one of the two to board the train.
He arrived at Hogwarts and was sorted into Ravenclaw house which, when he found out fully what that meant he nor his mother was surprised by it. He was sad that he was sorted into a different house from his twin but they went to the same school so he knew it wouldn’t be too hard to find him. He just had to find the person who looked just like him (A joke he continues to use to this day). Taking classes was much easier than he expected, he actually genuinely enjoyed all of his classes though there were a few that stuck out more than most. He immediately loved potions and the thought of being able to experiment with them. He liked being able to mix together different ingredients to get something seemingly different.
His first two years went smoothly. He was still able to see his brother plenty and he made a few friends as well as plenty of acquaintances. He loved having fun with people and did well in his classes. Everything was great until the killings and kidnappings happened. He didn’t want to be afraid but he couldn’t help it. He was a young kid and he didn’t understand why the killings and kidnappings were happening. He didn’t even really know who Elaine was. He had seen her around the school maybe twice. His mother helped him understand a bit better what was going on by the beginning of his second year though he still didn’t understand they why of it all.
Things seemingly calmed down and then the Triwizard Tournament was announced just before the start of his third year. He was excited about the tournament and couldn’t wait to witness the tasks. It was a fun-filled year at Hogwarts and the tasks, as well as the champions, were just as cool as he’d imagined. He attended every task that he could to watch the three schools battle it out, of course rooting for Hogwarts but hoping that the other school put up a fight. He was proud when it was announced that Hogwarts had won the tournament. The celebration feast was probably the most fun he’d ever had at Hogwarts. It wasn’t too many days later when the rival schools left to head back to their own castles. Ryoma had even watched from the window as both the carriage and the ship set sail. Hours later, they received word of the tragedy. Both had sustained massive amount of damage from the explosion and the death toll was rising. Ryoma hadn’t known how to react. He’d made a few acquaintances from each school that he’d promised to keep in touch with and he wouldn’t even be able to do that now. Some of them were among the death toll. School was cancelled, exams were cancelled, and graduation for the older students was held earlier than expected. The mood over the castle was somber and Ryoma felt it. He knew they all had similar feelings of loss.
The train ride home was gloomy; it was hard to be happy and hopeful for the next year with the tragedy hanging over their heads. When he and his brother exited the station, he was expecting his mother, stepfather, and brother all to be there to greet the two of them. It was only their mother. He just assumed that his father was at work until they arrived home. His mother had told both he and his brother they she had something she needed to tell them. That was when she broke the new to them; who their father was and the fact that they had other siblings. Ryoma connected the dots then, realizing that the Durmstrang champion, who had died in the explosion, had been one of their siblings. The deaths had already been tough for Ryoma to handle but now knowing that they’d had a brother in the destruction… He didn’t know how to react. It hurt, of course, knowing that the Durmstrang champion had been his brother and he hadn’t gotten to know him before he died. His mother told them she didn’t know how many siblings they had but once she’d heard Elias’s name, she’d known then.
With the school year having just ended, Ryoma is trying to figure out how to cope with the death of the brother he never knew and he is curious to know just how many siblings he has out there. He isn’t sure where to start, but he is anxious for the next school year to come around so he might know.
