You could say I'm hard working, patient, & loyal but I personally think that I am energetic, artistic & resourceful. People say I look a lot like Ryan Potter, but I don't really see it...

appearance:
Riku stands at roughly 5'5 - being approximately an inch shorter than his twin brother, not that it is too easy to notice unless you get them back to back of course. His dark hair is kept rather short, although he has debated growing it out a little - for now it is cut short and left roughly messed. Riku prefers wearing clothing for comfort, his go to outfit is just a pair of jeans and an old shirt. He mostly sticks to darker colors and a surprise to most is that he actually doesn't much like the colour yellow, which isn't to say he doesn't have house pride - he is more than proud to be a Hufflepuff after all. Riku also often wears beanies over his hair - its a strange little quirk but one that he finds comfortable.

overall personality:
Riku is a quiet but happy kid, he easily manages to make friends - he has a sweet and often calming nature that can at times draw people towards him - while he can be just as energetic as his brother, Riku has learnt to calm his excess energy rather well - most of the time at least. He can be a bit of a jokester at times, and he loves to make others around him happy - it is one of the things he loves most in the world. He almost always has a big smile for someone and making someone happy often can be the thing that makes his day, Riku hates to see others around him hurting or upset in any way and has at times taken it upon himself to cheer them up or make things better however he possibly can.
While in some ways Riku can be a little easily distracted, he has a creative nature and the way he sees the world is a special thing about him. Where some see something simple - Riku will see something amazing and be able to list off a possible story behind even the simplest of things. One of his favorite things to do is draw pictures of these kind of things and put them in on paper, he will later write down some notes all over the page - forming a story for whatever he drew a picture of. When it comes to his school work, Riku does fairly well - he has his subjects that he has some issues with - but he isn't afraid to ask for help and often will go to his twin before anyone else if he does need some help.
He tends to at times overthink things a little much, often getting a little lost in his own mind. While one person will quickly make a decision - Riku tends to think a little much on it, coming up with possible outcomes that can at times get a little crazy - his imagination is a strong tool but also a bit of a weakness in this situation. Riku although one of the calmest and most gentle people you could ever met, he does have a protective and fierce side - it is something not often seen too much of though. He has a strong control over his emotions, most of the time - so for him to actually get upset with something - it is usually because someone he cares about was hurt or threatened in some way.

history:
Riku was the second born twin, following right after his brother Ryoma. At the time they were born, their mother - Kincho Ichikawa was to be a single mother raising twin boys. But despite the boys being identical from the tips of their small amount of hair down to their tiny little toes - it was quickly apparent that the boys had differences in their personalities. While his brother proved to be a bit of a handful from the start, Riku was calm - he never cried much, and while he was alert and curious - he was content to just be unless something was urgently required. So much so that at times it was a bit of a concern to his mother that he rarely made a sound.
From the start Riku took his cues from his twin, when Ryo would reach a milestone - Riku would be right behind him. But Riku was also content to just sit and play or do something quietly - sure he loved adventures and he was a curious little kid. But where Ryo may end up in some mess - Riku somehow managed to escape that same kind of mess. Still - when his brother would learn something new, Riku was never far behind. As it was his accidental signs of magic were a little more subtle than his brothers, as Riku would soon learn he could do little things if he thought super hard about them - so when his mother saw his signs of magic they weren't exactly his first ones - but rather him entertaining himself by making some toys dance around the room as he happily colored in some new picture.
When Philip entered their lives, Riku was a fair bit more apprehensive than his brother was. The idea of someone new in their family was a little more scary in Riku's mind. So it took a little longer before Riku fully welcomed him into their family - he did like the idea of having a dad, and Philip was really nice and made his mother happy. All of which Riku saw as really good things, but Riku still had questions - wanting to know things about their 'real' dad. But after trying to ask and their mothers short answers he thought it was best to not ask so much. Still he wondered - but he was happy to have a new Dad in Philip. Plus then Hiro came along.
Being a big brother was something that Riku had never really thought much about before his mother announced he would be getting a little sibling. But Riku was determined from the moment he found out he would be a big brother that he would do his absolute best to be the best brother he possibly could be. Like Ryo he loved the idea and was proud to be a big brother, but Riku took a more calm approach when Hiro was still so tiny. He was almost always close by whenever Hiro would cry - and would gladly help out with any little thing he could, even when it came to gross diapers. Being a big brother was a special thing, and if there was one thing that little Hiro would never lack in it would be love.
Much like Ryoma was, Riku was excited to receive his Hogwarts letter - although he also had his worries. Would Hiro be okay with both of them away at school? What if something happened at home? What if people weren't nice at school? What if Ryoma and him were separated? His mind was a jumble of questions and worries, that it was only when Ryo came running in with their letters in his hands that his excitement returned. But it was their trip to Diagon Alley that truly helped his worries ease and allow him to truly become excited for their first school year at Hogwarts. Their mother must have the patience of a saint, for that trip was sure to have drove her insane at least a little - Riku proved that there was more than just their appearance that made them alike that day, as he kept up to Ryo easily running between each store in Diagon Alley that day.
But their goodbyes at the platform before boarding the train were as different as night and day, while Ryo rushed off after a quick goodbye - Riku took his time, happily hugging his mother just one more time and promising to write and keep an eye out for his brother that year. He waited awhile longer before happily waving and hurrying after where Ryo had taken off - boarding the train to start the journey towards Hogwarts. The sorting was a bit more bittersweet for Riku - he was honestly rather upset to not be sorted into the same house as his brother - but Hufflepuff quickly proved to certainly be the right choice for him. Plus he was still able to see his twin extremely often regardless of being sorted into separate houses like Riku had worried might happen.
Classes proved to be both a wonderful challenge and extremely interesting, Riku eagerly paid attention in classes and found a few subjects he certainly was more interested in - Transfiguration quickly becoming a favorite of his. The idea of being able to use spells and changing one object into another was something he knew could be useful - plus he also learned that there were people who could change themselves into animals - how cool was that?
His first year came to an end surprisingly fast, and then his second year began. Riku made friends easily and he made sure to spend time with his twin often as well, often being amused that despite their uniforms clearly being different house colors - people still confused him and Ryo rather often. But his second year also brought some harder lessons that weren't class related. He had been in a compartment with his brother on the train when word got around - at first thinking it was a stupid prank. A first year being killed on the train - that couldn't really happen after all - could it? But it was true - and it was just the start. A few more happened - and then the kidnappings occurred - he was just a kid, and what was going on around him - at school none the less was rather confusing and upsetting. He didn't understand why these things were happening - and why students were dying and why they were being killed.
The summer following was one of many questions, thankfully his mother and Philip spoke through things and things were a little easier to understand - although he still didn't understand the why of it all happening. Hopefully his third year would be better than his second. With the Tri-Wizard Tournament being announced right before the school year - how could it be anything but an amazing year?
Riku was excited from the start, and for the first time it was Riku who was eager to get to school and for his third year to begin. He was eager to get the chance to meet students from other schools that weren't his own - to ask questions and find out how their schools were different from Hogwarts. Of course he also eagerly followed each tasks and cheered for his own school while also getting to know some of the other students - being younger was a bit of an entertaining thing however - but most of the students were happy to talk to him and answer questions he had about their own schools. He made friends with a few of the other students, so when the Tournament was over he eagerly spoke his goodbyes and even had a handful of promises to write with anything he had to ask or just to say hello.
He had been in high spirits, looking forward for the next break to begin when the news got back to them. Riku was heart broken at what he had been told - on their way home, both of the schools were hit with utter tragedy - the carriage and the ship had exploded and many were killed. The few who had survived were in critical condition - their fates still hanging in the balance. His mind was a blank after that - not knowing what else to do as his heart was broken for the friends he had made and the promises that would now never happen. He sought out his brother - Ryo was always a comfort when he felt lost.
Exams were cancelled and school finished early, the somber students sent home early for break. The trip back home was a quiet one, with Riku still sticking to his brothers side - but strangely neither were their usual selves. There were no jokes and smiles were far apart. Both of them had at least known some of the students who were among those lost in the explosions.
Riku was looking forward to the break. With how the year had ended he was more than looking forward to seeing their step father and their mother, but most of all seeing Hiro was on his mind. Their little brother was always a source of something positive and after losing people he had come to know the past year, the comfort of home and their family was something both boys needed. But as they got off the train, it was only their mother who was standing and waiting for them - instantly Riku was worried. While it may not be a surprise if their step father was still working - what was strange was Hiro not being there.
Being told that their mother needed to talk to them was never something that was a comforting conversation starter. But what followed was far worse than an uncomfortable talk that usually would have followed. Instead - Riku had answers to questions he had long ago stopped asking. Their biological fathers name was spoken out loud and Riku realized he had heard that name before - mostly at school. But that wasn't all of it either - as another heart break was realized.
One of the students he had spoken to in the previous year, a student from one of the other schools, one who he knew had been lost in the explosion of the Durmstrang ship turned out to be one of their half siblings, Elias. While already Riku was sad over losing a few friends he had made - he had now lost a sibling that he hadn't even known he had. Their mother spoke of as much as she knew - Ryo and Riku learning they had other siblings as well - but how many, even she didn't know. It was a bit of a strange conversation that left Riku rather confused and the year had already been a rather overwhelming one as it was.
