Not to be the completely obvious one, but Canada was cold. A young Bella trudged through the snow, blowing into her gloved hands to keep them warm as she walked. She thought of Matty, curled up in her apartment, sleeping by a toasty fire while she suffered in the cold. She was insanely jealous, but her thirst for adventure led her onward. As she walked through the town, she happened upon a small pub. From outside, she could see that it was brightly lit and looked very warm and inviting. She made her way inside, trying to kick as much snow off her boots as possible upon entering. It was good manners that she could tell from the soaked floormat that most people didn't have. She walked up to the bar and ordered an extra large firewhiskey. The bartender handed her the drink and she walked over to a booth near the back, sipping on her drink. The firewhiskey warmed her inside and out, and she casually shrugged off her coat as she settled into the booth. She picked up a newspaper someone left behind and began reading, occasionally pausing to take a swig of her drink.

Aiden was young, and had only been traveling about a year. Aiden had totally not realized that winter in Canada would be freezing. But he had been there for a few weeks. He had found a colony of Knarl’s and was observing them. They were quite interesting, and Aiden could sit there for hours watching them. While still shivering, and covered in layers, Aiden began to walk back to the hostel that he had been staying at, Heard an unusual sound. He quickly moved over to look past some bushes to see a Jarvey and a Gnome having at it with each other. After watching that, Aiden continued to walk back, but a pub that he had probably passed half a dozen times, just looked so inviting. Not to mention, Aiden was frozen down to the bone. Walking inside he knocked his boots and he brushed the snow off his cloths. It was everywhere, and what he didn’t brush off, it just melted, getting him wet. He walked up to the bar and asked for a Firewhiskey. He had heard about that, but hadn’t been able to try it. The bartender laughed and asked for some ID. He handed it over. Cleared it. The bartender handed him his warm drink and Aiden moved to a table and pulled out a book and began to write it, careful not to get the pages too wet.

Bella peered over her newspaper, her eyes cutting to the door as a small bell tinkled merrily above it. A young man entered, covered in just as much snow as she had been. She watched curiously as he brushed it off, the little flakes of white falling from his clothes and melting on the floor. She unconsciously touched her own curly hair, which was now damp from the snow that clung to it. Her eyes followed the man, hardly more than a boy, as he ordered a drink from the bartender. Her eyes twitched into a smile as the bartender asked for his I.D., but the young man was able to produce it. Bella glanced back at her newspaper as he walked by with his drink. Her eyes were drawn to him again and she carefully folded her newspaper and placed it on the table for the next passerby to read. She picked up her own firewhiskey and made her way over to the man. Having always struggled with respecting others' personal space, she stood behind him, leaning over his shoulder to look at the book before him. "Whatcha writing?" she asked curiously.

Aiden wrote about the Knarl group that he had found, their behaviors out in the wild were quiet interesting. He took a sip of the drink he had ordered and it burned as it went down his throat. A good kind of burn though. It quickly began to warm him up and he continued to write. He felt eyes watching him, but that wasn't uncommon. He had already spent months camping somewhere, waiting and watching some kind of animal. But he knew what most people thought of him. They thought he was a freeloading slacker without a job and with little to know means of getting money. That was fine by him. He was doing something he loved. His thoughts and writings were quickly interrupted by a woman's voice. He looked up to see a woman was looking over his shoulder. She had to be around his age, maybe a little older. "Notes about the Knarl's that I found today." He said nonchalantly. He glanced at his journal, he was about half way through with it, and he he had only been in America, and now Canada. He would need to invest in some more. "Then I'll have to write about the Jarvey and Gnome I saw outside fighting." He knew that Gnomes were usually eaten by Jarvey, but it was quite unique to see the two fight it out. But sadly, and predictable, the Jarvey got it's dinner.

Bella's eyes widened in surprise when the man said he had found a knarl nest. She knew they were common to North America, but should would never have imagined that they would be as far north as Canada. She would've thought that since daisies could hardly flourish in the cold, that the area would be unfit for knarl habitation. It was really too cold for human habitation, but that was a moot point.
"Mind if I join you?" she asked, sitting down without waiting for an answer. Maybe it was the firewhiskey making her bold, but she found the man and his well-loved journal fascinating. She was curious about the rest of the contents of the journal and about what else might be written in its pages. Taking another sip of firewhiskey, Bella asked, "So do you just do this for fun? Or are you a magizoologist. I hope you'll forgive me for saying it, but you look a little young to be the latter, honestly." Not that there was anything wrong with being young. After all, the famous Harry Potter was still school age when he defeated the infamous Lord Voldemort. Young people could do great things if they put their minds to it.

Aiden knew that it was rare, which was why he must have spent the entire day watching them. Animals were his entire life now. Literally. But that was why he ended up being completely covered in snow. Now he was feeling it, the snow that he hadn’t brushed off was now melted and freezing him. Luckily he was in a warm place and sipping his hot drink. It was much too cold here, he didn’t think he would stay long.
”That’s fine.” He motioned to one of the chairs at the table. Maybe it would be a good idea to converse with a human being for a while. He had been fairly secluded since he moved out, with only one visit with his family during the holidays, and phone calls once a week seemed to satisfy him enough. It had been quite a while since he had had a nice face to face. It would be a good idea to take some time and try it out. The girl sat down and the nineteen year old Aiden smiled at the woman. ”I’m not entirely sure what to classify myself as. I’d like to say that I’m a magizoologist, but in the eyes of my family, just a slacker backpacking around.” It would be cool to call himself something as official as a magizoologist.

Bella was glad that the young man hadn't chased her away. Her social skills had always been lacking, but she enjoyed people's company, especially when they were as interesting as this one. She sipped on her drink while the stranger talked, smiling around the rim when he called himself a backpacking slacker. "I can relate," she said cheerfully. And, boy, could she. Her own father had refused to acknowledge her existence when she told him she wanted to travel the world. Sometimes it got to her, especially when she thought about how hard her mother and brother had taken it when he walked out on them all, but if she knew that in one short year, she would be the CEO of one of the most renowned wizarding casinos in Europe, she wouldn't care nearly as much.
"So what brings you to Canada?" Bella asked, taking another swig of her drink. She could see that it was getting low, and the chill of the outside was starting to creep in around her, making her shiver. "You don't sound like you're from here, Mr..." Bella blinked twice, suddenly realizing that she didn't even know the man's name. "Dreadfully sorry, I haven't even introduced myself. I'm Bellamy Fawley. Bella, if you will," she said politely.

Aiden watched as the girl sat down at the table that he was sitting out. She seemed quite interesting, and she did have an accent. He thought that she wasn’t from around here, but he didn’t want to speculate. He had heard quite a few interesting accents from locals, and didn’t want to risk offending. He smiled wide as the girl said that she could relate. He didn’t know how, but he certainly liked the sound of that. ”Really?”
”I’m traveling around observing magical creatures. I’m really hear on a coin flip really.” Once he felt satisfied with traveling around America, Aiden had to figure out if he would go North or South. Canada, or Mexico. Canada it was. He would go down to Mexico after he was done here. ”So, are you from around here? Or are you visiting too?” He guessed that she was a traveler too, because of how she said that she could relate. But maybe there was a different reason to her response. He smiled as the woman introduced herself ”It’s nice to meet you Bella, and I’m Aiden Valentine. You definitely guessed it, I’m actually from America.”

Nodding and smiling, Bella waved her hand nonchalantly, as if what she was about to say had no bearing whatsoever on the conversation. "My father disowned me and then walked out on the family. The usual," she explained with a smile. Truth be told, she had hated her father with a passion, and she was pretty sure the feeling was mutual. They had never seen eye to eye, and she was personally glad he was out of her life.
"Just visiting," she said politely, finishing off her drink. She wiped the foam from her lips and held up her hand to the bartender. Someone quickly brought her another drink, and she went to work nursing on it. "The family is from London, but I decided I was tired of London and decided to travel the world on what was left of Daddy's money." She smiled at Aiden, as if she was telling him that it was snowing outside or that water was wet. When the younger man admitted that he was from America, Bella snapped her fingers with satisfaction. "I knew it!" she said, "You Americans all have that fascinating drawl. I've spent plenty of time there myself." She took another swig of her drink and replaced it noisily on the table. She was beginning to feel the effects of the firewhiskey. "So, where to next, Mr. Conrad?"

Aiden felt bad for the girl sitting across from him. But she seemed to have put it behind her, so he didn’t want to drudge up the past if he didn’t have to. His smile returned when the girl said that she was just visiting, just as he was. ”Seems like we have something in common then.” He took another sip at his drink as the girl finished her first one off. He didn’t have lots of money, and definitely wasn’t used to drinking. His mother would probably have a cow if she knew that he was drinking now. That was mostly because she was determined that her children should be about 30 before they started to drink, but was considered to allow them to drink at the age of 21, which was the legal age in America. He chuckled when the girl seemed excited about guessing where he was fun. It was great to think that he had a distinctive enough accent that someone could guess where he was from, simply from how he talked. He did have a guess that the girl was from the United Kingdom area, and was happy to know that he was right as well.
”There are definitely places in America with thicker drawls that I do. I feel like I have a mix of some accents. My dads’ in the military, and we moved from the time was five until I started to travel myself." Aiden had just about finished his glass of firewhiskey, and already his head was starting to buz. Was he really a light weight like that? Or was it just because it just needed to be something he got used to. ”Not sure. I’ve been staying at a hostel not to far from here, but this bars much warmer. In the long run, I think I’ll be heading down to Mexico soon.” He laughed ”What’s next for you Ms. Fawley”
