The early morning sun creeped over the horizon on Diagon Alley, throwing lovely shadows around the little shopping center. The air was still cool, and not yet warmed by the sun to an uncomfortable temperature. Adena walked through Diagon Alley, her bag thrown over her shoulder, looking into the windows of each shop as she passed. She hadn't really had a plan when she decided to leave the house, but anything was better than being cooped up at home. She thought about checking out Flourish and Blott's and getting a head start on her textbooks for next semester. Maybe she could even use Mina's discount to get her books and save a few extra galleons. She was making her way there when she passed by Florean Fortescue's Ice Cream Parlor. She paused a moment. It was a bit early for ice cream, but the smells coming from the little shop were extremely inviting. Smiling to herself, Adena walked into the shop and ordered a cone of cherry garcia. She was greedily licking at the ice cream before she even left the store, sitting down at one of the little tables outside to enjoy her sweet treat. Oliver Russell Blishwick

Oliver was happy to be able to make a trip into Diagon Alley, he wasn't alone of course but his sister had taken off making a promise to meet up for a treat before they headed to check out a few new Quidditch supplies they had heard would be in stock. So, for now he found himself wondering around on his own enjoying the fresh air in the morning. There was almost nothing like Diagon Alley and no matter how many times he visited it never got old. He was calmly walking the street, taking a look inside a shop every now and again - the idea passed through his mind that maybe he should check out the animals before shrugging it off - he still had to convince his parents before tempting himself in that way. After awhile he found himself outside of the Ice Cream Parlor and hurried inside, looking around before taking note that his sister wasn't there yet he decided to help himself and get a treat while he waited for her to catch up.
Besides, who could ever so no to one of these treats? Certainly not him. He grinned happily before heading outside, treat in his hand as he looked around for a place to sit, apparently it wasn't just him who had the idea to stop by Florean's and most tables were already taken by at least one person already.

Adena's blue eyes scanned her surroundings while she worked at her ice cream. It was already beginning to melt, trying to drip down her fingers before being chased away by her tongue. She watched the people passing by, going about their days without a care in the world. It was like everyone had already forgotten that a terrorist cell had attacked a killed not one, but two groups of visiting students. Adena supposed that one couldn't linger on the gloom all the time for fear of going insane with grief, but it just seemed...odd. Dena was snapped out of her contemplation when she noticed a boy around her age leaving the ice cream parlor with his own treat. She watched as he looked around, likely for somewhere to sit and enjoy his ice cream. Adena looked around as well, noticing that, despite it being early in the morning, all of the tables were filled. Waving her arm at the boy, she motioned to him to join her. "You can sit here!" she called out. Oliver Russell Blishwick

Oliver's eyes dart around, being careful to hold his treat and not drop it - there was no way he was going to lose his icecream after spending so long waiting to get it. But already it was starting to melt a little and he needed to find somewhere to sit and enjoy it properly. His nose scrunches slightly as he looks around, it was strange how everyone had continued to quickly on with their lives after the tragedy that had happened so recently with the other schools. Oliver was still a little shaken by how the year had ended - but a sweet treat always helped calm his nerves and make him feel a little less - scattered really.
He was shaken from his thoughts when he heard a voice and saw a girl waving, a quick glance told him that yes - she was actually talking to him, and she was offering him a place to sit. Meeting someone he didn't yet know was always a little nerve racking but Oliver was glad for the offer and hurried over to her, offering a small smile, "T-Thanks." He tries to push past his stutter, and while it wasn't completely successful he managed to not cringe as he speaks and joins her, "Its.. oddly c-croweded already." Quickly he focuses back on his icecream as it melts a little on his hand, enjoying the treat for a moment before dark brown eyes glance back at her, "I'm O-Oliver." he introduces himself, offering a small smile.

Adena watched as the boy walked over, his ice cream dripping around the hand the clutched it, and she smiled a bit, taking a few more nips at her own ice cream, which was also beginning to melt. She chewed thoughtfully on a chunk of cherry as the boy sat down, raising her eyebrows as he began to stutter over his words. A sympathetic smile crossed her face as the boy spoke. "Just a little bit," she agreed, going back to nibbling on her ice cream. It was mostly finished and she began eating the cone, crunching away on it while she studied the boy. "Adena," she said with a warm smile, holding out her free hand for him to shake as she took another bite of her cone. "You go to Hogwarts, don't you?" The answer to the question was almost completely obvious. Almost every teenager in Britain went to Hogwarts. But still, there was the rare child who was homeschooled or attended a different magical institution; it couldn't hurt to ask. Oliver Russell Blishwick

Oliver was honestly relieved, while he was sure that smile had been filled with a bit of sympathy - he could handle that at least. It was better than being teased, which he was far more used to from people. He had grown used to it when he was a lot younger, his stutter actually made worse because of people teasing him for it, these days - it was a lot better than it had been, usually only stired up and made worse when he was stressed or upset. But it was there still - even when he spoke normally, only around people he was really comfortable with did it fully disappear. If he was relaxed and comfortable - he could speak 'normal'. He shook his head, giving his attention to his icecream before it began to melt a lot worse. "I-Its weird seeing i-it so busy, b-but its holidays so." He trailed off, offering a faint smile and a shrug.
He held his own hand out, that wasn't holding his treat, gently shaking her hand as his smile brightened, at least he had come accross someone nice enough, "Y-Yeah, I-I'm in Ravenclaw - f-fifth year next." He offered up the information, "W-What about you?" He asked curiously - it was rare that he came across students who weren't from Hogwarts, he had met a few who were homeschooled - and of course - he had met a few from Beauxbatons and Durmstrang last year but.. he didn't wish to think much on them. It was still sad what had happened.
