“Yes that’d be nice.” Rosie agreed. It was weird seeing London now. She used to just think of it as the city that hosted Diagon Alley, she never spent much time in muggle London. She spent a lot more time in Dublin, obviously, since that was where she and her parents lived. She never had a lot of time to explore London, it was hard for her to get to and from the city on her own while still living under her parents rule and curfew for their delicate, darling, daughter. As an adult, Rosie’s time was her own. Sure, she still lived with her parents, but, they were a lot more liberal with her now. Possibly in order to help her try to gain independence and push her out of the nest. Rosie had been babied for her entire life, she knew that and she was coming to terms with that and learning how to see the world for what it truly was; even if that it truly was scared her.
“I think so,” Rosie agreed when Susan asked if she was passionate about being a journalist. She was passionate about writing, that was 100% true. However, she was just so indecisive. There were so many paths that being a writer could take her down. People around her assumed that she would take a job at the daily prophet upon graduation and had been utterly shocked when she didn’t accept an internship there. She also knew that she could quit her job eventually if she found something that she wanted to do more, but, she didn’t want to waste so much time doing something just to abandon it. Instead, she was wasting her time doing nothing and the guilt of that was draining her. “I’d like to be happy. I think it makes a lot more sense for you because you’re so inclined towards creatures and you’re so very confident in your abilities and your choice, as you should be. I guess I never really thought about it too much and making a choice that’s going to dictate the rest of my life seems so daunting.” she admitted.

Susan smiled as Rosie answered in the affirmative that she was passionate about being a journalist. She could hear the slightest hesitation, and there was the fact that Rosie was not interning for the Daily Prophet currently. “It’s okay to not be one hundred percent committed to your passion, we are only eighteen after all,” she said, sitting back and chuckling a little at the notion. People expected each other to have it all figured out when they left Hogwarts for the real world, but they were just seventeen or eighteen years old. Merlin, her brother was in his twenties and he didn’t have everything figured out just yet! “What about other types of writing? Not just journalism, but maybe spell books, or something of the sort? There’s also the option to go to University if you want that.” Susan wasn’t sure how seven years at Hogwarts would look on a college application, but she couldn’t possibly be the first witch to think of the notion. “Anyway, we can move onto other things, like how we’re going to get you acquainted with this beautiful city now that you have the time,” Susan said with a wave of her hand, leaning forward eagerly. “You can come stay with me for a few days and we can go to all sorts of places. You HAVE to see the Tower of London with all its’ history, and London Eye is worth a ride, you get the most amazing views,” she stopped, and smiled. “Brandon is of course welcome to come too; in fact if I can wrangle Lysander away from his studies we can make it a double date,” she suggested, her eyes lighting up at the idea. Lysander had always been friends with Rosie, and though Susan wasn’t sure what he thought of Brandon, as long as he treated Rosie well there wouldn’t be a problem from either of them. rose harriet granger-weasley

Rosie felt a small laugh/sigh slip out of her mouth as she nodded in agreement with her friends statement about commitment to passion. “I sometimes feel like if I start to do it for work then I’ll stop loving it.” she admitted. She knew that was silly. She was passionate about and good at a field of work in which it wasn’t very hard to get a job so she should have felt thankful and lucky to have such a talent and such odds within her field. However, she couldn’t help but feel like getting paid to do it and having to do it in certain ways would squash her love of it.
“That would be lovely. I’m still living in Dublin now but I’m spending so much time in the city that I can’t see myself staying away from London for long.” It was odd, Rosie never saw herself enjoying London or any big city outside of the one in which she was born and had lived in for her whole life, but here she was. She loved London. There was so much to do. There was so much to see. There was so much History and Inspiration in every block. And then they landed back on the idea of a double date. “We’ll definitely have to arrange something.” Rosie agreed again. As soon as Brandon could...well...walk. Or leave the hospital in general.

Susan nodded; she had never personally experienced Rosie’s fear but she understood where it was coming from. “Ah, but what if you do it and you continue to feel passion - even MORE passion. And if you don’t do it, would you sit around, wondering what if?” she reasoned, tilting her head to one side. She had almost given up multiple times when she was studying to become an Animagus, but she had followed through and now she couldn’t imagine her life without this special ability. She also knew that she’d be kicking herself mentally on a daily basis if she had given up. Windsors aren’t quitters, that was what her father would say if he were alive. “I know it’s scary, but I think it’s a jolly good plan to go with your heart. Don’t let the what ifs of life worry you out of trying,” she added, trying to sound as encouraging as possible. “Dublin is also a great city!” Susan quickly enthused; she had been to the Emerald City a dozen or so times. Of course, she preferred London but she had also grown up here. “You’ll definitely end up out here, I guarantee it. Especially if Brandon decides to pursue music on Londons’ raging music scene,” she told her, teasing her friend slightly. “Plus, if you end up writing of any of the major wizarding publications they’re all based out of here, so it’d just make sense,” she added, already coming up with more ways to convince Rosie to move to London sooner rather than later. “I propose a toast,” she said, holding up her drink as the waiter brought back the paid check. “To the promise of new adventures,” she toasted, finishing her drink and setting the empty glass on the table. “I hate to run, but I promised my mum I’d pick some things up from the local market before it closes,” she said with a tone of apology in her voice. She gave her friend a quick hug and dashed out the door, confident that her friend would soon be a mainstay on the London scene. END THREAD
