To say that Ellie was upset when she learned that she would not be able to return to Ilvermorny would be a half-truth. While she was shocked that she wouldn’t be able to finish her schooling, and the fact that her wand was destroyed, when she learned that Hogwarts was allowing students to transfer there, she was excited. Not only would she be heading to London and being around those with accents that she craved to hear, but she would also have the chance to see her older sister, Finn. When her parents had contacted Finn, asking if it would be alright for Ellie to stay there during the school years until she graduated, maybe even staying during the summers if Ellie wanted, she was overly excited to learn the results. She was getting a one-way plane ticket to London, and she wouldn’t turn back. While she knew that her parents were a little worried about all the attacks centered around Hogwarts and it’s muggleborn population, Ellie was still excited. That morning, she had promised to write to her parents often and would keep in touch, telling them all about her adventures with her sister and during her time at Hogwarts. And while she wasn’t ready to enjoy an almost eight-hour flight to London, it didn’t tamper with her extreme excitement. So, she bid her parent's goodbye after they called for her plane to be leaving soon, kissing each of them on the cheek and getting a hug from each, she was off. Wasn’t long after that where she found herself seated in her seat, comfortable and ready for anything. She quickly grabbed her phone, pushed her headphones into her ears and just relaxed. Before long, after what felt like an eternity of watching movies on her phone, she had somehow fallen asleep during it all. Her head lolling to the side as they moved, but at least she was comfortable. A small cat nap was all it was before she was back at her video watching and waiting to land. And then it came, after what felt like centuries but was only a few hours, was the announcement. They were landing, and once the plane touched down in the airport, Ellie’s excitement grew and grew. Everyone began exiting their plane, grabbing their carry-on beforehand. And as soon as she exited the gateway, her eye wandered around for the familiar face of Finn Nottingham.

@ellie Finn had mixed feelings about the fact that Ilvermorny students were now being required to travel to the UK in order to attend Hogwarts. The only positive from all of it was that her sister was going to be spending the remainder of her school years in England with Finn, should she want to stay during the summer and winter breaks, and that was awesome. Finn couldn’t have been more excited to hear that. But with that high note, there were also a lot of concerns. The organization that had dealt the fatal blow to her alma mater had been one of the ones she and her auror colleagues at MACUSA had been working on dealing with for years. The fact that she had left the US half a year ago and now the criminal groups were on the rise again wasn’t exactly reassuring about her friends and former coworkers’ safety. And now there were hundreds of American students being added to Hogwarts, the same place that had just been overcrowded with the Triwizard Tournament and had opened up the other foreign schools as a perfect target for terrorist witches and wizards. This was mostly a logistical headache that she knew she shouldn’t have because she worked for herself now, but it was still present. Her ability to move around as whatever she was now, was going to be extremely hindered with more people she probably knew wandering around London.
But Ellie was coming to live with her. Nothing could top that. All the negativity in the world could keep her from welcoming her sister to the city she now called home. Showing her around was going to be the best, and she would finally have her sidekick back at her side. Arriving at the airport way earlier than she needed to be, Finn copped a table at a coffee stand and waited right outside of the security checkpoint. Eventually Ellie had to come through there. The best part about her position at the table was that she could watch the arrivals and departures tick back and forth as planes flew in and out of the airspace. Every person she watched walk through the security lines had been on one of those giant hunks of metal, soaring through the skies. Falling into a glazed over stupor as she watched people continue to go in and out of security, Finn’s brain didn’t immediately register Ellie’s presence. Her body was even moving before she understood why, crossing the short distance over to her sister and giving her a bear hug. “How was the flight? Were you able to sleep at all? Are you hungry?” Finn squeezed her a little more, not really wanting to let go until she got an answer to one of her questions.

The moment her eyes landed on her older sister, her best friend, her partner-in-crime, she felt a smile creep up her face. And before she knew it, her sister was wrapping her arms around her. Ellie let the handle of her suitcase go so that she could wrap her arms around her sister and not have it be a one-sided hug. Her sister was quick to bombard her with questions, about the flight, being able to sleep and if she was hungry. “The flight was fine, I got a little cat-nap in so it didn’t feel as long as it was. And I am famished,” she breathed out with a smile as she pulled away from her sister’s suffocating hug, not that she didn’t love it, but she needed to breathe eventually. “It is so great to see you, I’ve missed you Finn,” she said truthfully with a grin on her face, one that reached her eyes as she gazed at her sister. She hadn’t changed, at least, not from what she remembered. She looked the same as she did the last time Ellie saw her.

@ellie Hugs couldn’t go on too long, could they? Finn still didn’t want to let go of Ellie even after she answered all of the questions, but she felt her sister pulling away anyways. She was sure that had been one of those suffocating kinds of hugs, like the kind that their grandparents always gave them when they were little. Not that she hated them - just that she understood why Ellie was trying to escape from her clutches. Finn relented and let her go, deciding that she would bombard her later on if she got the chance. Nodding her head as Ellie said she got some sleep during the flight and that it went well, Finn bent over to pick the suitcase up. She could say she was fine, but if she was anything like how Finn had been following her flight to England, the adrenaline would soon run out. Luckily she was able to apparate straight to her apartment from the airport. Doing so with Ellie would be slightly more difficult, so dragging her luggage around it was.
“I missed you,” Finn grinned, giving her sister a nudge with her elbow. “And Brucey did too. He might knock you over on accident,” she said, reminding herself that the dog was going to have to be subdued when they entered the apartment. He had a little too much energy sometimes, which was better than being a lazy bum. An active dog was suited for her kind of lifestyle. Exactly why she got the husky in the first place. “So food first,” Finn confirmed as she started walking towards the exit, Ellie’s suitcase clicking along the floor behind her. “Anything in particular, or just whatever we come across first that looks somewhat edible?” In her opinion, breakfast for dinner was preferable, and there were diners a dozen close to the apartment. That may have been one of the reasons she had moved there in the first place. Ultimately it was up to Ellie though. It was her first night in London after all.

Ellie laughed as her sister nudged her and she did the same right back, “I missed you too,” she said with a sad smile on her face. “America was so not the same without you,” she added in conclusion as she smiled brightly towards her sister. And it was true, living with her parents all by herself as if she were an only child, it was boring. She missed the constant pretend – and not so pretend – bickering with her dear ole sister. The moment her sister mentioned Brucey, her eyes lit up, and her smile became blinding, “Oh I’ve missed that old lug, I can’t wait to see him,” she said with newfound excitement, on top of the excitement she already felt that is. “Yes—food first,” she said with a nod of her head in confirmation, it was then that came the big old question, where they wanted to eat. She shrugged her shoulders, “I’m fine with going somewhere that looks edible whenever we come across it, or if you have a favorite spot, I’m cool with that as well. You know more about the best places to eat in London then I do.” Those words came out with a laugh, it was true though, Finn would know more about the food and the restaurants then she would, she trusted her sister’s judgment in this case.

@ellie Finn laughed at her sister’s comment about America not being the same without her. She could see there maybe being more criminals running around in New York City, but aside from that, it couldn’t have changed that much, or felt any different for that matter. As for London; the city had a far different feel to it than home did. Ellie was probably going to adjust better to it than Finn had initially though. While she did have the dog to walk and understand the layout, living in New York had ruined her idea of all other cities. The scale alone made her feel like she was walking through a tiny town while in London. It had certainly been crazy at first. She snorted as Ellie said that she missed Bruce. Calling him an ‘old lug’ was going a bit far, since he still acted like an untrained puppy most of the time. No matter how much she tried to get him to heel while on walks, it never seemed to work. And his need to play tug-of-war constantly? Hadn’t dipped in energy levels for the past four years. If anything, he wanted to play even more now than he used to. Good thing she basically had all the time in the world to do that now. Ellie seemed to be fine with whatever, and Finn nodded her head. Perfect. Leaving it up to her meant finding something close by, because she was starting to feel hungry as well and didn’t want to make her sister wait any longer than she already had. Also, that meant she could magic them to wherever she needed to go. It would save time from having to walk from the airport. “Alrighty then. Let’s go over to that alley across the street. I’ll apparate us to a pretty decent place.” Checking both ways before crossing the street, Finn stopped a good distance down the alley and waited for Ellie to grab onto her arm before apparating to the restaurant. [ooc: you can have them end up near the restaurant in your post]

The moment her sister mentioned apparating to a decent place, her eyes lit up. She had never apparated before, or done magic outside of school. “Alright!” she said with excitement in her tone of voice as she followed closely behind Finn, her bag tapping against to the ground as she almost skipped. The two of them quickly crossed the street and slipped into the unlit alley, the only source of light barely reaching inside of the location, and her sister stopped once far enough from the prying eyes of a muggle. Before taking her sister’s arm, she pulled her bag closer and quickly grabbed the handle so that she had a nice grip on it, once that was done she grabbed her sister’s arm. It was like her ears popped when they disappeared from the location they had been in and reappeared in a different one. Apart from her feeling motion sick, it had been worse than a plane, but she felt fine within seconds. “Whoa—do you do that all the time? Apparate from place to place?” she questioned with curiosity, she didn’t know if she’d be able to do it all the time, but that might change as she got to be Finn’s age. “Anyways, which way do we go?” she questioned as soon as they moved from inside the new alley, her eyes moving to look for the restaurant that they were heading for, but Ellie didn’t know what she was looking for.

@ellie Finn hadn’t contemplated that her sister had never apparated before. She forgot that it wasn’t until sixth year that they were trained at Ilvermorny, which she had heard was the same at Hogwarts. It was such a common staple to her life these days that it was second nature – almost like brushing her teeth, or driving a car. Ellie seemed to know what to do, so once she had a firm grip on Finn’s arm, off they went, whipping into nothingness and immediately back into something. Feeling flat ground beneath her feet, Finn immediately turned to place her free hand on Ellie’s shoulder, unsure if there would be any side effects from the side-along apparation. The first time she had tagged along with someone, she toppled over. Hard. Other than a sore ego though, apparation came easy after that. “Couple times a day at least,” Finn grinned, proud to be a show-off for the first time in a few months. It was hard to convince her dog that she was the coolest person in existence if treats and toys weren’t involved.
“Should be right over…” Finn responded, arching her neck around the corner as she exited the alleyway they had appeared in. “…there,” she confirmed, the restaurant sitting only a few blocks ahead of where they were. “Lucky for us, the apartment is near here too. So it’ll be an easy walk back after.” Again, one of the reasons Finn had chosen the location. It was perfect to get everywhere she needed, both no-maj and magical. The price could be a little lower, but the extra addition of Luke as a roommate help bring that down considerably. The company was really what was important though, and now her apartment was going to be cozy with three of them living there for the next few months. “What’s first on the agenda tomorrow? We could do normal people stuff, or go see all the cool ‘us’ things,” Finn asked, purposely being vague about the magic as they passed by a decent crowd standing outside one of the restaurants they were passing by. She was going to leave the decisions up to Ellie for the time being though, considering this was all about her. Being the adult for once was going to be fun.

Besides the feeling of her stomach being on the outside of her skin and a slight twirl of the world, she felt fine. At least she didn’t topple over, but she had her sister’s firm hand on her shoulder to stop anything from happening. “That’s—kinda cool, seems easier than walking,” she said truthfully. Maybe one day she’ll be able to apparate all on her own and knock out time of traveling the mundane way. It wasn’t long after those words left her lips that she got her bearings, no longer feel any possible effects of the apparition. Her sister moved forward, her hand slipping away from her shoulder and left Ellie to follow behind, her stomach growling more than ever. Was apparating on an empty stomach a bad idea? Too late now, she’d just have to get some food in it. Her attention was drawn towards a distant restaurant with a large sign up ahead, her sister confirming its location before adding that they were lucky the apartment was close by as well. “Thank goodness, I don’t know if apparating on a full stomach will be any better,” she said in a low tone, mumbling it almost. She enjoyed the less time of moving from place to place, but if she got a bit of an upset stomach from being hungry, who knew what would happen with it being full. They two of them continued to walk towards the well-lit restaurant that already had Ellie’s mouthwatering, but her mind was pulled towards what her sister was saying. To do mundane stuff or magical stuff…that was a good question. “Maybe we could do a bit of both? I’m sure to find the cool stuff involves going through rather mundane things,” she said truthfully. “But it doesn’t matter to me,” she said with a huge smile on her face.

@ellie Apparating was easier than walking. That was…true. It had its own set of rules and policies though, and while it worked in the best of situations, it was highly dangerous to magic all over the place without knowing street layouts and places with less populated streets. She had learned New York City fairly well, which tended to have apparation points that Aurors could use to move around efficiently. London didn’t seem to have that at all though. “Definitely easier. I looked into the curriculum for Hogwarts. Pretty sure they teach you how to this year,” Finn shrugged. She had to know what Ellie was getting into ahead of time, considering Hogwarts was relatively different from home. “But don’t get lazy. You can’t apparate everywhere you want. They’ll tell you though in school, so no need to start harping about it now,” Finn waved her hand to signal that she was done with that part of their conversation. It was her job to be the adult now, even if she didn’t want to be. She would much rather have Ellie calling home to complain about her being strict, than their parents telling her to tighten the leash a little more. Finn was sure nothing bad would happen, but it was better to be safe than sorry.
Finn laughed as her sister wondered out loud if apparating with food in her would actually be good. That certainly depended on the person. Personally, she was fine, but that was also because she had years of practice under her belt. “We can walk to the apartment from here after we finish eating. It’s not that far,” she offered, unsure if Ellie was worried about actually apparating with food in her stomach. Normal apparation wouldn’t have an effect really, but side-along tended to be icky feeling no matter what.
Ellie said that doing the cool stuff probably meant doing the normal things as well, and Finn laughed. That was certainly true. They did have the rest of the summer, and there were a lot of things to do in and around London. “And if you ever get bored, we can always take a trip to France for a few days. Pretty easy to get there,” she said. “I haven’t been yet, but I’ve heard Paris is amazing too.” Not like Paris or London would ever top New York City, in her opinion. That was a hard feat to accomplish. They might be cleaner, in a sense, but New York was New York. She would fight anyone that said otherwise. “And here we are,” Finn stated as they approached the restaurant, quickly going up the stairs and holding the door open for Ellie.

The excitement within little Ellie grew as Finn told her that she had looked into the curriculum of Hogwarts and was pretty sure that what they had just done, apparating, was something that they probably taught this year. “Oh how exciting!” she exclaimed with a huge smile on her face, before she quickly laughed, “I won’t be lazy, do I look like the lazy type?” she questioned rather sarcastically at her sister. Ellie didn’t see herself as lazy, and she was pretty sure her parents didn’t either. She quickly nodded her head, the conversation about it said and finished. It just made Ellie a bit more excited that she’d learn more about it. The young girl nodded her head as Finn promised that they would walk home after getting food, stating that it wasn’t far from their location. Ellie’s eyes quickly lit up as Finn mentioned France, “Wait—France?!” she exclaimed, even more, excited than before. “I—I so wanna go to France,” she breathed out, bringing down her heart rate as soon as she possibly could. “Oooh Paris, I’ve always wanted to go. Now we have to go!” she said with excitement in her tone, she was practically glowing with her, a perk in her step noticeable. If her sister went on anymore, her soul would probably leap out of her chest. Brought out of her excitement of the possibility of going to Paris and France, her sister stated that they were at the restaurant and her attention snapped towards where it was, following the eldest Nottingham up the steps and into the establishment, muttering a quick ‘thank you’ to her sister. “Oh—this is nice,” she breathed out as she glanced around the unknown restaurant that they had entered, she could tell why Finn liked it.

@ellie Finn managed to contain her laughter as Ellie challenged the warning about being lazy. She hadn’t said that to make sure she stayed on top of her studies; it was due to the dangerous nature of apparating without the basics locked down first. “Nope, don’t look lazy to me. But I don’t want to get an owl saying you splinched your pinky toe into a wall of the castle,” she added quickly, even though she had already tried to end the conversation during her last attempt. The word alone was going to draw more questions, assuming Ellie didn’t know what it meant already. Splinching was ugly, having witnessed it first-hand a few times, most of which were during lessons at school, but a few from panicked criminals trying to escape before she could apprehend them. The latter were always the worst, and trying to find their missing body parts was beyond gruesome.
Though their conversation about school didn’t seem all that important once the F word (France) was brought up. Finn wasn’t expecting that sort of reaction out of her little sister. “Uhh yeah I guess we’re definitely going now. Didn’t think you would react that way, to be honest,” she said, chuckling still at the reaction she had gotten from Ellie. Was Paris really that amazing? Like sure, it was beautiful and supposedly romantic, but what made it that much different from any other European city? Apparently her sister thought otherwise. “First we need to get your school things and get you settled in. Then we’ll discuss when the best time to go there will be. Sound good?” And she had to make sure that Luke was fine with watching the dog for a few days. He was starting to get used to having walks whenever Finn felt like she needed one herself, so there hadn’t really been an extended amount of time that he was left alone in the apartment since the big move. “Come on, they’ll think you’re weird if you keep staring,” Finn teased as she passed by her sister and took a seat at a nearby booth, pushing one of the menus across so Ellie could look it over as they waited for their server.

When her sister said, she didn’t look lazy, though she didn’t want to get an owl about splinching her pinky toe into a wall, she cringed. She didn’t know what she meant by splinching, having never really heard that term before, but Ellie didn’t want to know. “I have no idea what splinching is, but I feel like it’s bad…and I don’t want to know what it means. But I like my pinky toe, so…yeah,” she said with a sheepishly laugh, finally letting the conversation die with a small shutter. Splinching kind of sounded like, using context clues, cutting off a finger and she was not about to lose her pinky toe in a wall somewhere in the castle. Her and blood? No fucking way. “I mean—I’d love to go to France. But if that was supposed to be a joke or isn’t a possibility, I’d be a bit disappointed, but I’d understand,” she said with a small smile. Ellie was telling the truth though, she’d be a bit disappointed with the notion of possibly going, but if her sister came back and said they couldn’t, then she would understand completely. Traveling meant money, though with her sister’s apparating ability, maybe it would cut the cost. She internally shook her head; she wasn’t going to dwell on it any longer. But when her sister said that they’d discuss it after she was settled and ready for school, she smiled brightly and nodded her head, “Okay.”Her eyes wandering around the establishment, she almost missed her sister’s teasing, and instantly she blushed as she followed her sister to a booth and sat down across from her. Taking the menu that her sister pushed across to her, she looked at it. “So—what would you recommend?” she questioned as she read over the menu once and then twice.

@ellie Prepared as she was to dive headfirst into a crash course on apparation, discussing the negative repercussions of splinching right before they were about to eat probably wasn’t the best idea in the world, so Finn left it at that. “That’s what school is for,” she swallowed, hoping that would be the end of the conversation on the subject. She had faith in Ellie’s abilities as a witch, so splinching wouldn’t be a problem as long as her sister paid attention in class and concentrated on apparating like she should. The class had been relatively easy-going at Ilvermorny, and she assumed it would be the same with Hogwarts, if not more-so. Their laws concerning no-majs and magic were relaxed compared to back home, and the ability to pop away from virtually anywhere was pretty nice. MACUSA would have had her head if they saw some of things she had done while over here.
As for a potential France trip, Finn shook her head as her sister reasoned with it, in case it wasn’t an actual possibility. “Shouldn’t be a problem at all. Everything over here is pretty cheap when it comes to travel. If we want to go our own way, we can do that, or we can rent a car. Whatever you want.” Personally she liked the idea of driving there. Having mobility that didn’t require finding a dark alley to magic away from was pretty awesome. The only reason she hadn’t done it with the airport today was that the price to park a car would have been ridiculous for only a few hours. At least with travel it would be reasonable. But for now, they needed to eat, and Finn’s stomach growled at the thought of waiting any longer for food. “Hmmm…I’m getting a burger since I haven’t had anything all day. I’d avoid the pizza here though, you’d only be disappointed when trying to compare it to what we have back home.” The greasy pizza joints in London weren’t terrible, but the place they were in currently was nothing to write back home about. There were plenty of better options on the menu. “Maybe a milkshake too…” she contemplated, flipping through the menu a few more times as she waited to hear what Ellie wanted.

The conversation ended on Finn’s words of that being what school was for, and the discussion of traveling to France was still on the table. She smiled, “I’m down for whatever really, you’re in charge,” she said with a soft laugh as she looked through the menu, “But driving could be cool, since we get to see everything as we go past,” she added. The food looked pretty much the same as what they had back home, at least, from what she could tell. Being told to stay away from pizza, only got a nod from the younger brunette witch. She frowned deeply before a huge grin appeared on her lips, “A milkshake sounds amazing,” she breathed out in excitement. “I can’t decide between something in the pasta section or a bacon burger…” she breathed out as she flipped the pages to read over all the options.
