She had a lot of questions, probably ones that weren’t expecting an answer, but, Sav had answers for them all, it was one of his favorite little habits, answering questions that didn’t need to be answered. He always liked to have the last word, he liked to be the one who challenged the other, especially if it meant being more sarcastic than what he was presented with. “I could if you want me to. If that’s what you’re into.” he smirked in regards to painting his number on her face. “Not if the players on my team are better than the players on the team for whatever house you’re in, and let’s be honest, there are few who are better than me.” he responded again, that comment being mostly for fun. He knew that he was good, but he actually had a very healthy respect for the other players and other teams, and was very sportsmanlike and accepted a loss as well as a win with grace. “Are you saying you’re afraid of a bunch of Gryffindors?” he asked, raising his eyebrow, challenging her to answer. Sav loved having the upper hand. He also loved someone who could turn the situation on the dime. Sav loved being challenged.
Ashley accepted his hand and stood up, letting him take her up to the stage. “Well you haven’t heard me sing yet, you might get so embarrassed you’ll walk out and never talk to me again.” Sav didn’t sing. Like ever. Not even in the shower. Sometimes he would allow himself to mumble a tune, but singing attracted a different kind of attention to him. He knew he didn’t have a great voice, and so any attention he got, he wanted to make sure he got for a reason that he approved of, like his body, his Quidditch skill, or his winning charm. “Lady's choice.” he insisted.

He started answering her questions, which Ashley wasn't particularly expecting, but she was impressed. Her right eyebrow lifted as he said that he could, if that was what she was into. "I'm not quite sure whether I'm into it or not. I've never actually had someone paint their number on my face before ..." she shrugged a little, a part of her hoping that he would take that as an invitation. She knew they were barely into their date, but she felt comfortable flirting with him, which was a nice feeling. She didn't have to hold back or worry about freaking him out because he seemed so chill. Besides that, he just turned everything right back on her. It was fun. She laughed at his comment about how she should cheer for the better team. "I guess I'm going to have to pay attention to see who deserves my cheers though," she teased lightly. Then she shrugged at his challenge. "I'm not afraid of anything," she answered defiantly before adding, "but the reputation of the Gryffindor house is pretty strong and I really don't want to find myself on their bad side just because you want to tease me." She met his eyes confidently.
Ashley laughed when he said that she might walk out because of his singing. "No need to worry about that. I can carry us through any song. As long as you don't judge me for my inability to fly, I won't judge you for your voice," she winked at him. Ash was confident enough with her talent to not be worried about singing in front of him. "Such a gentleman," she teased before pursing her lips and thinking for a moment. Then she laughed when an idea came to her. She smirked at Sav and moved over to the DJ, who nodded and got the song ready. "Here we go," she grinned when the introduction to "Don't Go Breaking My Heart" started playing. Even wizards knew this song; it was a classic and just plain fun.

“Who said I was teasing?” Sav asked with a smirk and a shrug of his shoulders before he sat back in his chair a little. He was - that was for sure, but if asking whether or not he was teasing kept her on her toes, even if she saw through him, it would prove to be a little more fun. A part of him kind of hoped that she did see through it. That she got it and was able to keep up, American or not, he needed someone who could keep up and stay on his level.
She made an agreement with him; she wouldn’t judge his singing if he didn’t judge her flying. “Fair enough. I’ll agree to those terms.” he nodded as he was handed a microphone. He hadn’t used one of these before, wizards had no use for them. He hadn’t done karaoke before, but the premise was simple enough, sing a song, read the words from the screen if you didn’t know him. He hoped, however, she would pick a song that he knew, that way he had a little more freedom to show off and goof around. The music started and he couldn’t help the chuckle that escaped his lips. “An oldie I see.” he commented, the song was released in 1999 and was 25 years old, but it was a song that he knew, he figured that everyone probably knew it. It was everywhere. It was already a duet, which made it easy. The man’s line was first, which he was almost dreading, but like anything else in life, he rode the adrenaline over the fear. “Don’t go breaking my heart…” he croaked out, looking at the girl standing next to him. He honestly wasn’t the worst singer, but he definitely was tone deaf.

Ashley quirked an eyebrow at him when he asked who said he was teasing. Oh, he was a riot. "Some things go without being said," she told him, trying to be serious. She couldn't hold it long though. The corners of her lips turned up and she gave in, laughing quietly under her breath. This guy was fun. More fun than anyone she'd met in a while.
Ashley grinned when he agreed to her suggestion. Perfect! This meant that sometime in the future she would feel comfortable getting on a broom with him around. Someone handed him a microphone and then her and the excitement started to rise in her. This was going to be great! She shrugged at his comment, impressed that he knew the song. "An oldie, but a goodie," she amended, though she could see by the smile on his face that he was alright with her choice.
He started singing and Ashley smiled. His voice wasn't perfect, but it fit his personality. She liked it. She took the next line, wondering if he would be impressed by her voice. Ashley was a good singer. Actually, it was one of her favorite hobbies, but she tried really hard not to brag about it. "I couldn't if I tried." She answered, looking at him as she sang. She didn't care what anyone here thought about their song, her attention was focused on Sav.

Her voice was certainly better than he had expected. He knew it would be better than his own voice, and she had said that she had sung before and was a good singer, but he still found himself impressed. And a little (admittedly) intimidated. Though he wouldn’t let it show. Instead, he chose to just have fun with the rest of the song. She didn’t seen thrown off by his squeaks of sound, so he wasn’t going to let it get to him that she was better than him at something. He knew that sometimes, people would be better than him, and She focused in on him, so he did too, keeping a smile and trying to stay loose for the rest of the song. It ended and he gave a laugh as he handed the microphone back to the DJ. It could have gone worse, he supposed. Overall, he had fun. He lead her back to the table and sat down with another laugh. “You were a lot better than you lead on.” he teased.

He was impressed. At least a little bit, though Ashley couldn't figure out how much while they were singing. She was glad. Strange and somewhat-sudden as it was, she wanted to impress him. She wanted them to have fun on their date and for him to want to spend some time with her afterwards, even if it wasn't a lot of time. When the song was over, he was laughing and handing the microphone to the DJ. She followed his example, and him, back to the table. There was a small smile on her face. She lifted an eyebrow as he teased her and then shrugged a little. "You never asked how good I am at singing," she answered, "but I would compare my singing to your playing Quidditch." Maybe that would tell him how much she loved it. "What did you think?" she asked curiously, not being specific on purpose. She wanted to see what he'd talk about.

She had him there. He had never asked. She said that she would compare her singing to him playing Quidditch. That said a lot, he thought. Quidditch was both something that came naturally to him and something that he worked at every day of his life since he decided that it was what he wanted to pursue professionally. His mom still wasn’t entirely thrilled about his career goals, but at least she was happy for him. Sav knew she would always be happy as long as he was happy. What his father thought about it, Sav could care less. He had done his very best to avoid any interaction with the man over the summer holidays. Sav didn’t want to talk to him. He had finally come to terms with the fact that he had sisters, but he felt so reason to accept his father back into his life. “I liked it.” Sav admitted with a smirk. “Obviously, I’m sure everyone in the club liked it.” he laughed.”Can I get you another drink?” he offered.

He seemed to hesitate for just a moment when she asked what he thought, but then he was smirking at her again and Ashley couldn't help herself from smiling back at him. Why did she like that smirk? He liked it. He liked her voice. Well, that was definitely good news, though a part of Ashley expected it. All right, every part of her expected it. She had yet to find someone that didn't like to hear her sing and she would have been thoroughly disappointed if her blind date was the first one. She shrugged at his compliments, as if it was no big deal. "Thanks." Then he asked if she wanted another drink and Ashley nodded immediately. "Sounds great." He left, but was back shortly after and they spend most of the rest of the date getting to know one another better. When it was all over, Ashley still didn't know if he was a Pureblood, so she couldn't have known if her parents would approve of him, but she was excited to be going to school with Sav. He was definitely going to be a fun friend to have around and she couldn't wait to see a Quidditch game. --- the end --- @sav
