Edmund seemed to be pleased with her answer about giving it time. Honestly, she had no idea what she was saying and she hoped that she didn’t give Ed wrong advice. Maybe Addi didn’t want space, maybe she wanted Ed to come to her and be honest to her and confess his love to her. Lusie knew that she wouldn’t want that herself from a potential partner, big, dramatic, public things weren’t her ideal of love, but maybe Addi felt differently? Maybe she wanted some big gesture? Maybe that was how it was supposed to go for the two of them, if anything at all was supposed to happen. “Or don’t listen to me at all.” she suggested seriously, not at all passive-aggressively. “Truly Ed, I don’t know and I don’t want to give you advice that might be bad advice.” Lusie was too sweet and too selfless to believe that her advice was the best advice. “Maybe someone like Will would have more to say.” she offered. Will had dated more people than either of them had, since neither of them had really dated before. Susan had also, but for whatever reason, Will was the first person to come to mind.
“I’m fine.” she shrugged. Nothing exciting ahd happened to her this summer like had happened to Edmund. “I’ve just been studying and spending a little bit of time in Diagon Alley. I’ve met quite a few of the new students.” she admitted. She loved going to Diagon Alley because it was one of the few places that she was allowed to go alone. The royals weren’t normally let out on their own. And, it was actually very taboo for any of them to go shopping on their own. But, since their guards were all muggles, it wasn’t so much of an issue when it came to the wizarding locations.

All it really took was watching Lusie for a moment to see where her thoughts were going. Ed knew his younger sister pretty well, even though he didn't always listen to her. Honestly, he didn't always listen to anyone, not even his Mum. He didn't like being told what to do or what was good for him. The good thing about Lusie was that she didn't tell him what to do most of the time, which was one reason he felt closer to her than he did to others. He nodded when she spoke, saying she didn't really know and didn't want to give bad advice. "Don't worry Lu," he told her sincerely. "Even if I do take your advice and it goes wrong, I wouldn't blame you for it. I'm new to this too, so I just wanted to see what you thought." He paused a moment. "Maybe I will ask Will." He wasn't sure if he could talk to his brother about girls, but Will definitely did have more experience ... maybe it would be a good thing.
He cocked his head at her comment about meeting new students. "You mean the American ones? How do they feel about being here? Are they excited to go to Hogwarts?" Ed didn't really spend a lot of time in Diagon Alley and when he did go there, it wasn't to chat with strangers. He was curious about the Americans though. Would they be bitter about what happened to their school or excited for an opportunity? Maybe Lusie would know ... since she met some of them. "So it's a good summer then, right?" he asked, wanting to be sure she was enjoying herself.

Edmund assured Lusie that she wouldn’t get blamed for giving any advice that went wrong, and while Lusie was happy to hear that and had pretty much assumed that would be the case, she still didn’t want to do or say anything that would cause her brother any harm or lead him to do something that was actually wrong or made him uncomfortable. She was sure Will was a much more suitable candidate for advice when it came to the affairs of the heart. “Well that’s what I think.” Rushing into anything didn’t seem like a good idea, but then again, she wouldn’t judge him either way. And if they did both want to be together and agreed to start dating right away, Lusie would be happy for them both. She felt she was in absolutely no position to judge or make those decisions for anyone. “But I also think that you know the situation better than I do, so trust your instincts?” she suggested.
She laughed when he asked questions, especially so many at one time. “I’ve only met a few of them so I don’t feel as if I can speak for them all.” she told him. “But the few I’ve met have been lovely and I’m sure they’re exciting to be here, maybe they’d be more excited to be here under less extreme circumstances.” she answered. She could imagine most of them were upset regarding the destruction of their school and much rather have come here on their own free will. “It’s been a very relaxing summer.” she agreed. She’d seen him most days, so he was at least able to know that she hadn’t been doing anything too crazy or exciting. “Yours?” she asked.

He nodded when Lusie repeated that that was what she thought. All right, so he had her opinion and he agreed with it. He wanted things to go well with Addi and didn't want to chase her away by rushing into things, so Lusie's advice sounded solid to him. He chuckled when she started to tell him to follow his instincts. "Don't you know by now that I don't have any instincts, Lu?" he teased, trying to make himself feel better about it. The thing was, even thinking about telling Addi how he felt made him more nervous than he cared to admit.
She started to answer his questions and Edmund smiled as she said that she liked the Americans she'd met so far. "Good to know. I'll try to not be too rude to them once school starts," he said, smirking at his younger sister. He nodded when she explained that so far it was really relaxing and agreed. "Yeah, for me too. At least, it's been relaxing compared to others." Then again, maybe that was due, in part, to the fact that he wasn't fighting with his siblings as much as he used to. "It's been really nice, but I think I'll be excited when school starts again." Ed loved school. He loved learning about magic and being with Addi and he was just excited to have something to do again.

"Don't you know by now that I don't have any instincts, Lu?" Lucy laughed at his little comment, she also shrugged. “I’m sure you’ve got more than I have.” she admitted with a smile. She couldn’t see a world where that wasn’t true. At least about certain things, like what Edmund was going through. Lusie’s instincts always told her that staying quiet and keeping a low profile would be the best way to ride out the drama that came whenever anyone found out who she was or that she was a princess. Lusie’s instincts told her to trust few people and instead put her time and energy into reading and learning and studying. Lusie’s instincts told her to play it safe, to think and plan a few steps ahead and watch out for any danger that presents itself. Lusie was very book smart. However, she was rubbish when it came to street smarts.
“Me too.” Lusie nodded along with her brother when he said he’d be glad when school starts up again. It was easy to stay out of the press when you were away at a boarding school that was off the grid and unfindable by muggles. “I find that castle a lot less stressful than this castle.” she explained. Though they were similar in size, the fact that hundreds of students lived in Hogwarts made it feel a lot more manageable and less grand.

The whole situation was just interesting to Ed. He'd gone to his little sister for love/best friend advice and she told him what she thought, then told him to disregard it. Now they were teasing one another and Ed realized that this was one of the things he loved about his younger sister, her ability to keep things light and positive. He rolled his eyes at her, grinning. "How about let's agree to disagree on this? I have a feeling neither one of us is going to change our opinions about our instincts." He laughed at the ridiculousness of the conversation.
He was glad to hear he wasn't the only one excited for school to start. For once, he wasn't excited about it as an escape. Normally he felt a strong urge to get away from his family (particularly his older siblings), but that wasn't why he was anticipating the start of term. He wanted to get back to learning, to the old castle, and particularly to Addi. He chuckled and nodded at her comment about stress at each castle. "Agreed," he answered without hesitation. "Do you have any plans for the rest of your break?" he asked curiously. He didn't, except for stuff with Addi, but Lu probably already knew that.

Lusie laughed and nodded in agreement. It was funny that she and Ed were both humble enough to continue to insist that the other had better instincts than themselves, but also, that she and Ed were both self-deprecating enough to actually believe that the other did have better instincts. Neither was better, they were just different, Lusie decided and agreed to end the topic before they just began going back and forth regarding who was better at that kind of thing. “None really.” Lusie admitted. “Just Italian tutoring. Speaking of which, I think it’s nearly time for my lesson. Which I have to change for…” she couldn’t imagine what people would say (the more formal people in her life) if she showed up to her lesson in a pair of grass stained jeans and an old t-shirt. “Keep me updated on the Adi situation though - I demand to be the first to know if anything comes of it… well… the third…” since she supposed Adi and Edmund would be the first and second to know. She then leaned up, kissed her brother on the cheek and skipped away with her book hugged to her chest.
