Cray had nothing better going on this summer, and she had avoided nearly everyone. So, she decided that a little socialization wouldn't hurt her, and maybe she’d even meet someone new and someone whom she didn’t hate. She signed herself up for the blind date roulette and received a letter back saying that she and her date would be partaking in a Live Jazz festival at the Royal Observatory at Greenwich. To be honest, Crayla had mostly decided not to go. Jazz didn’t seem like something that she wanted to spend her time with. However, there was a small voice at the back of her head insisting that her date could be hot, and then she could at least have a little fun and a snog session. If she got there and the date sucked then she could just leave. So, she went and she stood in the back, looking over the people already sitting on blankets in the park and the bands already playing on the stage. She rolled her eyes.

In all honesty. Max had signed herself up mostly as a joke and a bit of a dare from her brother. While she highly doubted that she would end up getting much out of it, it sounded like an interesting way to have some fun and meet someone new. But the letter she got back made her pause - Jazz wasn't something she had ever really been into much. While it wasn't the most hated type of music in her mind - she did find it a little annoying sometimes. Particularly when people thought they were good.. but really weren't. So she was having her doubts for sure about if this blind date was going to be a good idea or even much fun. Still - she was at least going to show up, if she was lucky there would at least be some fun - and hey, she might even end up with a decent date even if they wouldn't have much in the form of entertainment. Perhaps they could ditch and go do something more fun. When she arrived she simply shook her head - taking in the crowd of people and the music already playing. This was not looking to be a positive start.
First thing she had to do though - she had to find her date. Depending on how that went - well, it would depend on if she was even going to stay around or not.

Crayla walked around the park with a semi-disgusted look on her face. All of these muggles. She had signed up for a wizarding blind date service and they had sent her on a muggle activity? At least she knew that her date wouldn’t be a muggle, however, what if they were muggle born? Or liked muggles? Oh she really had thought this through. What on Earth was Crayla Howlan thinking? She hated most people, how was she going to survive going on a date, in a muggle venue, with someone that could have been of dirty blood? Uh! Was it too late to leave? She glanced around for a person holding the same sheet of paper that she had gotten in the owl post which detailed the date location and event. She spotted a girl with dark hair holding what looked like the same sheet of paper. Oh god, was that her? She was cute, Cray supposed. But she had a look about her… something was different… Cray wasn’t sure what, but she also wasn’t sure she liked it. She approached the girl, somewhat annoyed already. “Are you here from the Blishwick service?” she asked, raising her eyebrow at the brunette.

Crowds like this - were certainly not something that Max was fond of, while she wasn't as against no-majs like some people were, she wasn't overly fond of them. Mostly due to their ignorance among some other reasons. But why on earth did she get arranged to come to this kind of activity? She was starting to think it was a total and utter game of chance - was the guy match making just throwing darts at a board or something? She shook her head and glanced at the piece of paper again with narrowed eyes. Muttering something to herself before folding the paper up and moving to tuck it away when she noticed someone approaching her. Max's first instinct is to look up and give her a quick once over, her eyes raising appreciatively before paying attention to what was being said, "That I am." she spoke carefully, knowing her accent could sometimes confuse these British people, her own eyebrow raising as she finally put the sheet of paper away into her pocket.
"Does that make you my date who I am supposed to meet at this ....place?" as she spoke the last word she glanced around them, a small frown on her lips. She was seriously not sure why this place had been chosen.

The girl confirmed that she was here to meet her date and didn’t seem too happy to be here either. What could she possibly be upset with? She was obviously an American, so she didn’t know who she was standing there with, however, Cray couldn’t see why anyone, except maybe the Gryffindor American whose name she refused to say out loud, would loath to be in her presence. And even he liked her, that was why he was always hanging around. And even if it wasn’t, Crayla didn’t care enough to...well… care. “It would appear so.” Cray looked the girl up and down once more. She was cute, at least as cute as a brunette could be, but she didn’t look like she’d be very fun. And if Cray wasn’t going to be here with someone good than she at least wanted to have fun. “I don’t know about you, but I have no interest to be around so many… muggles. It's not my ideal date." Cray admitted.

Mad had conflicting feelings about this whole situation, dating someone that she hadn't even met - it was odd to say the least. But - her brother had dared her to sign up, and Maxine Sullivan was not one to turn away and back down from a dare. So - here she was. Is this awkward and strange situation, meeting her date - for the first time, and in a place that Max had never imagined she'd end up at. But... the girl was pretty, and British apparently. But at least that was something she knew about her date to start with.
At the girls words, Max raised her eyes - she had of course heard about the more British way of saying No-Maj, but had yet to have heard someone actually say the word - Muggle. It sounded bizarre to hear really. But the rest, now that she understood and quickly a small grin formed on her lips, "See - that I can agree with, honestly - this Jazz thing is a little strange as well. certainly not my first choice in a date." she admitted herself before nodding her head, "I'm Maxine by the way, I prefer Max though." she offered a small smile.

So her American date didn’t like muggles either, that was interesting. She didn’t know much about American culture but she hadn’t ever thought that there might be Americans that would agree with her on these… taboo… topics. The girl admitted that this wasn’t her ideal date either and Cray nodded, happy that she wasn’t stuck with some jazz-loving freak. The girl introduced herself as Max and didn’t try to extend her had in greeting, which Crayla was glad for, she certainly wasn’t interested in touching someone that she didn’t know. She had no idea where the girl had been. Maybe if they got to know each other a little more she’d change her mind. “I’m Cray.” she introduced herself as well. “So should we try to find somewhere else or…” she we just give up and go home now? Was the other half of the question, but Cray left it unsaid. She supposed she’d give it a try. Worst case, she could just walk away anytime.

It wasn't so much that Maxine didn't 'like' No-Maj's - it was more that .. well, she found them frustrating at times. For some strange reason they didn't notice things that happened right under their noses and it astounded her even more that they didn't notice things, it was as if they were just ignorant and didn't want to admit that things that happened were .... actually happening. It was weird, and utterly frustrating. She straightened her back as she introduced herself, keeping her own hands close to her sides as she did so - the girl seemed nice enough but Max knew better - appearances could be decieving that was for sure. "Pretty name." she commented, a small smile curling at her lip. The girl was already interesting at least.
"I'm all for finding somewhere else - would you happen to have a good idea cooking in your mind?" Max would be lost at coming up with something, not for lack of ideas - but for rather her lack of knowing many places still. London was still a new place for the American, although she had discovered a few interesting and fun places - there was far more she hadn't yet discovered.

The girl standing by her admitted that Cray had a pretty name and the brunette simply gave a smirk and let out a little breathy laugh, just slightly. Almost a scoff, but not so rude, just interested. Crayla hadn’t really thought of her name much, it was French, she assumed, something that her mother had given her, she couldn’t imagine it was a choice of her father's. He didn’t seem like someone who would have been good at picking out baby girl names. “I don’t know this area, at all.” Cray admitted. She wasn’t from the city. She wasn’t from the city, she didn’t come to the city often. And when she did come to the city, she didn’t venture into any parts where she would have to be around muggles unless she had a really good reason. And all of this just confirmed her theory that muggles were awful and annoying. “But I can’t imagine it would be hard to find a place with a big sign in the window advertising coffee.” she added. “Shall we then?” she asked, only half asking. She began to walk towards a row of shops.

Maxine found herself feeling a little uncomfortable, it was a strange experience really - what was she supposed to say? Or do? This was odd to say the least, but she was doing her best to ignore the uncomfortable and strange feeling, instead she wanted to enjoy herself - to have fun, a good time. That wasn't a bad thing to want after all. She tilted her head slightly, shaking it after a moment, "I don't either - although, considering I've only been in the country for a few weeks, I don't know many areas at all actually." She gave a small chuckle, shrugging her shoulders as she glanced around before nodding, "I'm sure we can find a place like that, I mean - magic or non-magic.. everyone likes to have a drink of coffee or tea or something right?" She simply fell into step beside Cray, her eyes darting around curiously as they walked. If all else failed, at least she would get to have a look around somewhere new.

As they walked and her date spoke, Cray began to decide and while they were both in this awful situation, that neither of them obviously wanted to be in, and, while Crayla was anything but the person to welcome a new student to the country, there could be something helpful in getting to know an American and having one on her side, especially if they ended up in her own house. Someone would could fill her in on the rest of the American students. Someone who had gossip, someone to give her a leg up on her new, American pupils. “It appears they have coffee. I can’t guarantee how good it is, though.” Crayla pointed to a little corner shop, which sported tables covered by little, blue and white striped umbrellas. As she spoke, what remained of her once very prominent French accent slipped out. She liked to let it when it wanted to, she didn’t want to lose that part of her.
