Séamus had never been good at thinking under pressure. When things got bad, he did one of two things; he hid, or he ran. The debate with his parents about whether or not he would return to Hogwarts in September had been going on since they had pulled him from school the day of the explosions, and it had just continued to build, culminating in yet another argument between him and his parents. He had originally thought just to sit in his room for a while to let himself cool off and let some of the pressure abate, but sitting in his room felt more like sitting in a prison cell, and he just couldn't do it. Séamus hadn't known where he was running to - he had originally Apparated to Diagon Alley, but the narrowness of the streets felt like a set of jaws clamping down again, and Shay had whirled away again almost immediately. It was a miracle that he hadn't splinched himself, considering he hadn't had an idea of where he wanted to end up until he was already halfway into the void. The Slytherin landed on the beach with a spray of sand, and stumbled a few steps before falling down to his knees, unable to keep his balance. Tears were clouding his vision and he knew he needed to calm down before even attempting to make his way to the cottage that was sitting a dozen or so meters away. Hopefully no one had heard him arrive.

Dom didn't know what she was doing with herself. Her uncle was presumed dead and Vic started a group determined to avenge him. Dom was all for that, joined her sister without a second thought, but the group wasn't always doing things. Most people involved had real lives with real jobs, which was something Dom did not have at the moment. She didn't know what she wanted to do, so she was just going with it, doing whatever seemed to catch her fancy. Today she was hanging out at the beach outside her parent's house. She wanted something to do, was itching for it really, but nothing was coming to mind. Ridiculous.
She was sitting in the sand, running it through her fingers as her mind went a million miles a minute. Then she heard something going on behind her. She turned and her eyes narrowed as she stared for a moment. Was that ...? "Séamus?" She said his name somewhat softly, rising to her feet and making her way over to him instantly. He looked terrible. What was going on? Was his family all right or did Elaine do something? Dom felt her blood start to boil at the thought of Elaine attacking more people. Hadn't she done enough damage? Ruined enough lives? She bit her lip when she reached him, trying to make herself seem calm. "Shay? Are you okay? What's going on?" she reached out to touch his shoulder, unable to hide how concerned she was.

Séamus honestly wasn’t as aware of his surroundings as he should have been. His throat was tight with emotion and his eyes were clouded with tears, and he couldn’t seem to think straight. Maybe he was making too big of a deal out of all of this – it was just a school, after all – but he was so frustrated with it all. It was more than just school, in the end. It was where all of his friends were – the few friends that he had, at least – and Shay’s teachers would recognize if he was missing and… and he didn’t want to let anybody down, and not going to Hogwarts, for some reason, felt like a personal failure. He felt a hand on his shoulder, and Shay looked up, eyes red and puffy. Dom asked if he was okay, and what was going on, and the Slytherin sucked in a deep breath. “They w-won’t let me g-go b-back.” His parents hadn’t sued as many words, but they had been arguing for so long and still wouldn’t be shaken. Séamus had thought when they saw how much it meant to him they would relent, but they hadn’t, and… “W-what the h-hell am I if I’m n-not a w-wizard?” He didn’t want to be just a baker’s son. It wasn’t a bad life, but Shay had seen so much more. What was he supposed to do when all of that had just slipped through his fingers?

He didn't say anything for a bit and Dom wasn't quite sure what to do. Séamus was obviously very upset about something and she could take a guess, after their owls, but she didn't want to guess wrong and make him even more upset. He looked up at her and then finally said what was wrong. She frowned, leaning in to give him a hug. There wasn't anything she could do to fix this, but she could be there for him. She could show him that he wasn't alone. That had to be what he wanted, right? Since he came here, to see her. "There's no way they'll change their minds?" Dom asked softly, trying desperately to think of a way she could give him some hope. Then her jaw set. "Whether or not you go back to Hogwarts, you are a wizard. If you need help learning more, I'll come and teach you." She would, if it came down to that though she hoped he'd be able to go to school. Hogwarts was where he would get the best education possible. Outside, you could learn of course, but it wouldn't be the same.
