Elaine could feel the discomfort oozing from Jessavette like a festering wound. The girl clearly did not want to be around her, probably hadn’t since their lunch; she was just too damn polite to say otherwise. She wondered if this was what attracted Finley to her so much, how submissive and accommodating she could be. She put on a pouting expression as Jess mentioned she hadn’t been sleeping well. She didn’t doubt that, seeing as her notes and...presents were the reason the girl probably wasn’t sleeping. She had been careful not to send anything while Finley was staying over, as he would know immediately it was Elaine sending the notes. She wondered just how much Jess had told him about it.
“It’s okay, I understand,” Elaine said with a small nod. She took a deep breath and sighed. “Well, I just wanted to say, this is goodbye Jessavette Dupont. I’m going on assignment in Germany and I’m not sure when I’ll be back.” The answer was never, and Germany was an unmarked grave in a large cemetery, but minor details. “It’s been a pleasure my dear, I hope you’ll remember me fondly.” She reached out and pulled Jess into a hug, knowing it was probably as uncomfortable to her as it was for Elaine. “Until we meet again,” she said cheerfully, giving a little finger wave before walking off. One door closed, and another one was going to open, and Jess wouldn’t know what hit her when it did.

Jess' eyes widened when Isolde said she was going away for an assignment and didn't know when she'd be back. That was rather ... sudden. The reporter in Jess wondered why the girl was leaving and what she needed to do, but Jess also didn't want to push anything. If Isolde wanted to tell any of the details of her assignment she would have. She didn't need Jess to ask about them. "Oh! Well ... congratulations! I'm so excited for you," Jess answered, though she didn't really know if Isolde was excited about the assignment. She seemed happy enough about it. She gave a hesitant smile, "Of course-" she was cut off when the older woman pulled her into a hug and froze a little bit, though she gave her a quick hug back. That was weird. Jess wasn't really one for lots of hugs, but maybe Isolde was ... she nodded as the girl said her farewell. "Good luck with everything," Jess called after her. It was just so ... strange that Isolde would look for her just to say goodbye. Jess walked the other way, still confused, but trying to push it out of her mind. At least she wouldn't have to worry about running into the crazy Isolde and the one who didn't recognize her. That would be a relief. --- the end --- Elaine Lyra Dupree
