[googlefont="Open Sans Condensed:300"] I CAN TASTE THE DANGER [attr="class","next"] As Kinsey explained what NEWTS were, the brunette attempted to figure out if she had heard of them at Ilvermorny. She frowned, shaking her head “I’ve never heard of them. But I did hear about exams that we have to take, so maybe we have something equivalent? The name of the exams is on the top of my tongue,” she breathed out, snapping her fingers as she attempted to obtain the memory of what the stupid exams were called. She knew it wasn’t NEWTS, that was a foreign term to her. “Oh—I miss having snow deep enough to have fights with. Most of the time it’s just light enough that you mix the dirt beneath with it, which is really gross. Sometimes we have really bad snow storms though, and it looks beautiful. Snow angels, igloos, you name it…we probably made one,” she said with a soft laugh. The girl said that she couldn’t imagine transferring to a different school and asked if she liked it here, and she quickly nodded. “Oh yes, so far it’s been interesting. Luckily, I’m only a sixth year, so I get to enjoy it for another term. I feel sorry for those that transferred over as seventh, not being able to graduate from the school you’ve been to for six years, it sounds horrible.”

It was obvious from the girl's expression that she hadn't heard of NEWTS exactly, but Kinsey wasn't particularly surprised when she said that they had their own type of exam. It made sense. Students were expected to go to school so they could learn things, but adults always wanted to prove that they'd learned a specific amount. And thus, tests were born. It was lame, but also the way society worked. Kinsey nodded, "Oh, that's fine. I'm sure you have something similar. I wonder what they'll have your seventh years take," Kinsey added thoughtfully, her Ravenclaw mind trying to decide what she thoughts.
She laughed as the younger girl expressed how much she missed snowy winters. "Well then you should love it here. I mean, we don't always get to go outside a ton, but if you want to, there's definitely the opportunity to do things in the snow." Kinsey normally didn't do a lot in the snow, but that was generally because she was busy studying something-or-other, and because no one ever really invited her to join them outside. Other than Toby, of course. Kinsey nodded, "Yeah, it would definitely be annoying to have to switch your last year." Once again, she was glad that she didn't have to. Kinsey had a hard enough time as it was, going to a new place would probably only complicate things further.

[googlefont="Open Sans Condensed:300"] I CAN TASTE THE DANGER [attr="class","next"] Ellie continued to ponder on the name of the exams that Ilvermorny gave to seventh years, but she was drawing a blank. She bit her bottom lip, willing for anything to come to mind, but it didn’t. Thankfully, Kinsey didn’t let her ponder long before speaking once more and bringing up her seventh year and what she would be offered. She frowned, thinking deeply, “Maybe we’ll take them as well? Or maybe a dumbed down version,” she said a bit jokingly, but it was true. Much of what they learned at Ilvermorny was different than what they learned here, especially in the way they were taught. The only subjects that seemed to be the same were the classes that were taught by the transfer teachers since they continued where they left off for each year. Ellie smiled, “Next time it snows, you should come with me. We can have a snowball fight!” she exclaimed, a bit too excitedly. And then she shrugged, trying to be chill before saying, “That is…if you want.” She didn’t want to seem like she was forcing the girl that she just met to join her for a bit of fun in the fresh snow. She couldn’t wait. She nodded her head, “It’s a bit annoying since I had two years left, but I feel awful for them. Though…not all of them. Some of the bullies from Ilvermorny dwell in the seventh year.”

Kinsey shrugged, "I'm sure they'll have something figured out to make it a fair exam." She wasn't exactly sure how that was possible, but she also wasn't one of the people in charge of the school. Kinsey knew that the teachers and headmistress cared about all the students, from both Hogwarts and Ilvermorny. Surely they would have something in place so that the students from each group could be successful.
Ellie suggested that Kinsey should come with her for a snowball fight and Kinsey found herself warming to the idea, surprisingly enough. She wasn't normally one who was interested in things like that, but now that she was starting to get better control of her abilities it actually sounded like fun. "Yeah, I think that would be great!" She chuckled a little, "You might need to come find me, but a snowball fight sounds like fun." Kinsey nodded as she explained how switching schools was a little annoying. "Do you know anything about how the work at Ilvermorny is going? Like, do you know if you're going to stay here for two years or just one?" Kinsey hadn't heard any such thing, but she also wasn't trying to pay as much attention to that either. She had a lot going on.

[googlefont="Open Sans Condensed:300"] I CAN TASTE THE DANGER [attr="class","next"] The brunette nodded her head at Kinsey’s words; she hoped that they would make it fair. She wasn’t sure how this term would go down this year, had Ilvermorny taught them just how Hogwarts taught their students? Was Ilvermorny more advanced or was Hogwarts? It was only the first week of September, so she had time to figure it out, but she hoped that prayed that Hogwarts would be fair when it came to their examinations. Even if a small part of her wished that they would skip it for them, but she knew that was not going to happen. “I’m sure you’re right, guess we'll find out as the term goes on,” she said with a soft laugh and shrug of her shoulders. Picking at the hem of her shirt, she sat quietly for a few moments, pondering the whole examination process of Hogwarts versus her original school. She smiled as Kinsey seemed to warm up to her snowball fight idea that she brought up, stating that she would have to come to find her though if she would like to have one. She brightened up, nodding her head with determination, “Of course—first chance I get to have a snowball fight, I’ll look for you.” The girl then asked about how long she would be staying at Hogwarts and if she had heard anything about Ilvermorny, and she shook her head. “Last I heard it was there was a lot of damage, and they were unsure how long it will take. I think, even if it were fixed up by next year, I’d probably stay—switching schools once is tough enough, doing it for a second time, will be even worse.” she said truthfully.
TAG @kinsey NOTES would you like to wrap this up soon or keep going? i was thinking a more updated thread, filled with snowball fights, could be fun! [newclass=.next::-webkit-scrollbar]width: 5px;[/newclass][newclass=.next::-webkit-scrollbar-thumb]background: #000;[/newclass]

Kinsey smiled and nodded, "I'm sure we will. I'm kind of interested to see what they decide to do." Things like that interested Kinsey, seeing the way that people adjusted to changes and unexpected situations, like having a whole new school added to their own one year. It was intriguing to her. Besides, she was interested to learn a little more about the Americans, especially because she was hoping that focusing on them would help her forget her own loss. Riley. She shook her head, not wanting to think of him right now. There was nothing she could do there.
When Ellie said that she'd look for Kinsey at the first snowball fight, Kinsey nodded and grinned. "That sounds like a good plan to me!" She was trying to be better about doing things with people and getting to know more people, so Kinsey definitely considered that a good idea. She nodded when Ellie said that she'd probably choose to stay even if Ilvermorny did open again next year. "Do you think they'd give students the choice?" Kinsey asked curiously. A few minutes later a gong sounded and she realized that she was late. "Oooh, I have to go! It was really nice meeting you Ellie. I'll look for you when it snows if we don't run into one another before then." She smiled at the younger girl, hoping that she wouldn't be offended by Kinsey's quick leaving. "Bye!" Kinsey said, waving as she started walking away.

[googlefont="Open Sans Condensed:300"] I CAN TASTE THE DANGER [attr="class","next"] She was glad that Kinsey liked the idea of joining her for a snowball fight once the snow started falling. It would have to be before the Christmas holiday or after, seeing as it was likely that both girls would be going home – at least, Ellie knew that she was going to. She nodded her head with a smile before the girl asked about being given a choice to return to Ilvermorny if it were to reopen and she shrugged her shoulders, “I don’t see why not. But I’m sure not many would want to after already being sent here for most of the year. I for one would not go back if it reopened next year, but that’s just me,” she said with a small laugh and giggle. The sound of a gong sounding filled her ears, and she looked around for a second, surprised by the sound before realizing what it was. Kinsey quickly realized that she had to go and bid Ellie farewell, allowing her to wave as she watched the woman retreat from the Ravenclaw common rooms. She wasn’t offended by her abrupt leaving, probably needing to go somewhere for class or such. “Bye!” she called out after her.
