Hugo chuckled when Peyton pointed out that she was surprised the librarian didn't stop all the talking in the library. "I think people go further in before they start being loud. Next time you go in, pay close attention. The quiet people are the ones close to her desk. The deeper you go into the library, the louder it gets." At least, that's what he noticed during his years going to the library. Everyone close to the librarian desk knew better than to talk, the rest used the library almost as a recreation space- especially during the winter. The only good studying he'd been able to do there lately was only close to the librarian desk and those seats went quickly. Of course.
Peyton answered his next question, saying she was doing well, but that she was certain she'd get overwhelmed later. Hugo nodded fervently, "Yeah, same here. Let's make a deal. How about if one of us finds the other super stressed out here, we make them take a break and relax for a bit?" The idea sounded good to him. Hugo had a hard time giving himself breaks once he started studying (which wasn't super often, honestly) but if a friend invited him, he was definitely more likely to take a few minutes for himself.

[googlefont="Open Sans Condensed:300"] WE'RE BRIGHTER THAN FIREFLIES LIGHTING THE SKY [attr="class","next"] Peyton thought about it for a moment, perhaps he was right. She had noticed before that things seemed to change in pitch wherever you went, but she never really paid close attention to it previously. She had just assumed it was loud everywhere and the librarian was failing at her job – which now, she felt guilty for. She nodded her head, “I guess I will next time I go inside. I just assumed, which I shouldn’t, that everywhere was noisy,” she said with a soft laugh leaving her lips. Peyton seemed to light up at Hugo’s idea, and she was glad that he had come up with it. She had never really thought about having someone stop her from stressing; not even her sisters did an excellent job at that. But it was a brilliant plan, one that made her smile brightly. “Perfect! You got yourself a deal,” she said with a smile on her face. Why hadn’t she thought of such a thing?

Hugo laughed when Peyton explained that she hadn't ever noticed that about the library before. It wasn't entirely a surprise, since he wasn't sure whether or not most people paid attention to that sort of a thing or not. Hugo just did. He couldn't help it. He was so easily distracted that he had to notice things like that. "Yeah, good luck getting a seat near the librarian though," he teased. Maybe she'd have better luck than he did, but he doubted it.
She liked his idea! Granted, it was a pretty brilliant idea, so Hugo wasn't entirely surprised that she would like it, but he was definitely pleased. "Okay. Don't forget your part in it. You're not allowed to let me stress too much either," he told her, wagging a finger at her animatedly. He didn't think Peyton would forget, though. She seemed to be pretty on top of things.
He sighed as he pulled out a book. "I should probably let you get back to studying and get started on my own though," he said with a small grimace, before glancing over at her mischievously, "unless you have something else you want to talk about first?" Hugo would never argue with a distraction.

[googlefont="Open Sans Condensed:300"] WE'RE BRIGHTER THAN FIREFLIES LIGHTING THE SKY [attr="class","next"] Peyton wasn’t one to go to the library if it was loud, resulting in never really paying attention to the atmosphere around the different parts of it. She’d likely get up and leave the moment it got too loud for her. Though ever since finding this spot thanks to Hugo so late in the last term, she used it more than the library these days, so it didn’t exactly bother her. Peyton let out a little laugh, “True—finding a seat near her is hard, but also staying close to her is harder. She’s always wandering around, and the quiet follows her,” she joked, though it was true. ‘Okay. Don’t forget your part in it. you’re not allowed to let me stress too much either.’She let out a soft giggle and then saluted him, nodding her head, “Aye—aye, Captain.” Her words came out with humor deep within them, and she couldn’t contain the soft laughter that left her lips after the words left. Her nose wrinkled in amusement and she held in the snort that threatened to come. Peyton was good with keeping promises, and she would surely hold up her end of the deal, and she trusted that he would do the same for her. She was likely to need the help de-stressing then he did though, she was a stress ball that refuses to squeeze. He was quick to say that he should let her get back to studying and to attend to his own, but then he said something that made her giggle as she glanced at the mischievous look that glowed within his eyes. “I do have a question for you—have you figured out what you wanted to do when you graduate? I recall you mentioning a ministry worker or a cursebreaker…but you weren’t sure at the time,” she asked with a curious gaze. She wasn’t sure if that was what he meant about having something else to talk about, but it was a distraction from work none-the-less.

Hugo nodded as Peyton made her point. "You have a point there," he conceded with a smile. "I guess there's no doubt about it then. This place is a million times better than the library." Which explained why he was totally willing to spend most of his study time here in the corridor. Hugo much preferred to spend his study time actually studying so he could have fun when he wanted to.
Peyton started to make a point of teasing him about his request for her to help him to not stress out and Hugo chuckled in response. "Well I'm glad we've got that sorted out," he answered, not really knowing what else to say. He shrugged and let the topic drop, sure that there wasn't really anything else to be said about it.
He was a little surprised when Peyton mentioned that she did have a question for him. Then he chuckled, "Yeah, I thought a lot about it during the summer. I think I want to be a cursebreaker." Hugo was pretty sure that's what he wanted to do, anyhow. He wanted to have fun, but to be able to do it on his own, apart from his family in a way. He loved them, but when it came to life after Hogwarts, Hugo wanted to do something on his own instead of following in their footprints.

[googlefont="Open Sans Condensed:300"] WE'RE BRIGHTER THAN FIREFLIES LIGHTING THE SKY [attr="class","next"] Peyton nodded and smiled, both when he agreed with her about the whole library thing and this spot being better, and when they had gotten the whole stress thing figured out. The conversation ended with that, or that part of it at least. Now, Peyton had opened a whole new can of worms when it came to what he wanted to do when he graduated. Sure, they were still early in the term and graduation was so far off, she was still a little curious about it. Last time they had spoken properly about it, he didn’t know what he wanted to do, and she wondered if he was still pondering the possibilities. He seemed a little taken back by her question, but chuckled and went on to answer it, revealing his constant thought about it over the summer and concluding with his decision. A cursebreaker. She couldn’t remember if he had told her that was an option the last time they spoke and she smiled, “I think you’d make a great cursebreaker!”

Hugo grinned when Peyton said that he'd make a great cursebreaker. "Thanks," he told her. "I figure, it's a place where I can make my own way, and do something that's fun and different." He knew his Uncle Bill was a cursebreaker, but it wasn't like working for the ministry, where he'd feel like he was working for his mum, with cousins and family in every department. He loved being a weasley, but he wanted to do his own job. "It's the goal, anyway," he said with a nod. "Have you been thinking about that yet?" He knew she had more than a year before her graduation, but he couldn't help but wonder if maybe Peyton had thought about that before. He wouldn't be surprised if she had. She seemed like the kind of person that would be thoughtful like that.

[googlefont="Open Sans Condensed:300"] WE'RE BRIGHTER THAN FIREFLIES LIGHTING THE SKY [attr="class","next"] Peyton nodded her head in a sign of saying that she was welcome for the compliment, “Yeah—it does sound fun and different,” she said in agreement to his words. The question was then spun around on her, and she blushed a little, shrugging in slight embarrassment. She wasn’t sure what she wanted to do, and now with only this year and next, she’d have to figure out what she wanted to do by the time she graduated in twenty twenty-six. “I’ve been thinking…but I’m not too sure what I want to do. I’ve leaned towards maybe a magizoologist or maybe something to do with casting spells—I’m not too sure if I’m honest,” she said with a soft laugh.

Hugo was glad that Peyton seemed to understand why he wanted to be a cursebreaker. There was one person! Now he just had to find a way to tell his mum and everyone else. He didn't think they'd necessarily disapprove, but he wasn't sure if anyone expected it, which might make their reactions interesting. Still, it was his life and Hugo was definitely interested in that. He nodded in understanding when Peyton explained that she didn't really know what she wanted to do. "I get that. Believe me, I didn't know what I wanted to do for the longest time. Maybe as you continue studying and looking at your options, you'll find something that jumps out to you?" he shrugged. "But you've got time. Don't stress it." He glanced over at his book bag, remembering all the work he had to do. "Well ... I guess maybe now we should actually start studying, huh?" Hugo asked, smiling just a little. "Let me know if you need help with anything?" he teased as he pulled out his own books and sighed. He didn't really want to do his work, but it was a necessary evil so he was going to do his best.

[googlefont="Open Sans Condensed:300"] WE'RE BRIGHTER THAN FIREFLIES LIGHTING THE SKY [attr="class","next"] Peyton enjoyed the company of Hugo; he was friendly and very helpful when it came to finding this secret spot to study that was far away from the loud library. They had only met last year, though she had seen him around here and there but had never really met. She was glad that they had met though, due to his graduating within the coming months, and was happy to make a new friend. Peyton nodded at his words because he was right…she still had what was left of this year and the next before she graduated and had to decide what she wanted to do. Perhaps something would jump out at her by then, and she nodded her head when he told her not to stress. A soft laugh left her lips, and she once more nodded her head, “Yeah we should—and alright,” she started, rolling her eyes slightly at his teasing tone. And with that, the two got to studying, talking here and there whenever they needed help or a small little break.

Their conversation drew to a natural close and Hugo smiled at the girl sitting in front of him. Peyton seemed very sweet and agreeable. He was glad that the two of them met last year, and that they had this little haven that only the two of them knew about. It was nice knowing that he had someplace he could study where hardly anyone else could interrupt him. Besides that, he didn't consider Peyton an interruption. She was a friend and he would welcome any interactions with her, especially here in their secret study spot. He smiled, nodding when she agreed with him, saying that they should study and that she'd ask him for help if she needed it. He couldn't help but chuckle a little bit as he opened his book. Then he sighed. He wasn't ready to graduate and every time he studied and did his work it brought him closer to that eventuality. At least he still had the better part of a year. He'd just have to make sure that he enjoyed it and made it worthwhile. --- the end --- @peytonbainbridge
