@dominique 09.23.2024 The scorching morning heat had no place in London this time of year. It was almost October, for Merlin’s sake! The month of September had sped by, kicked off with the final departure of Xavier and the unfortunate reality that Ondina was still slithering around the house each morning and evening. Harper enjoyed the heat for the most part, but this kind of sickening haze that had befallen the cityscape was something else altogether. She was ready to break out her sweatshirts, not strip back down to a t-shirt just to get some relief whilst walking down the street. Work wasn’t for a few more hours, and even then she didn’t really have to go in today. Mondays were always delivery days, the tools and parts they would need as metal charmers being dropped off around mid-afternoon and then dispersed to everyone so they had parts for the rest of the week. Harper’s current shipment was charming silverware. It was absolutely enthralling, and she couldn’t get enough of it. Thinking about it made her roll her eyes as she brushed by a group of muggles. The truth was that she was going to be able to get through that shipment in a matter of hours this afternoon. Laying down activation spells on the silverware so that even the below average witch or wizard could manipulate the utensils was the most basic metal charming out there. She wanted something more difficult, like muggle radios that could tune into wizarding broadcasts. According to her bosses though, she was still too green for that task, despite exhibiting the knowledge to execute the task. Apparently building radios and charming them since she was a first year in Hogwarts or repairing her motorcycle without the assistance of magic wasn’t good enough.
The frustration of her job and the onset of the muggy weather had Harper in an irritable mood, the kind that had her out of the house early to avoid interacting with Ondina and able to roar down the streets on her motorcycle without anyone really caring. But work was still looming over her, and the slow crawl until she had to head in was inching its way closer to her with every passing minute. Eventually she would have to drag herself into the office and get her work done, even if it meant she wouldn’t have anything else to do for the rest of the week. Better to get it out of the way now rather than later. But first: breakfast. Ducking into a coffee shop that she frequented often while on the way to work, Harper slid her earbuds out of her ears just long enough to make her order, replacing them immediately as she stepped out of the way to wait for her coffee and bagel. She would have to spend her work hours without her music, so letting it seep into her now was her only respite until she got out later. Anxiously rocking on her heels, Harper tapped on the counter of the order pick-up as she waited for her food.

Today was most certainly not one of Dom's better days. Not too many days ago, she'd gone with Ethan to his family's house and watched him move on. It was a good thing for sure, but her emotions were frazzled. She felt like they'd been frazzled for months, but now as she looked on the past year or more she could see how broken she became when her best friend died. She was finally working to pull the pieces together again. Some days it felt like it was working. Other days it felt like a useless battle.
Not having a job didn't really help. Dom wanted to figure out what to do with her life, but how in the world was she supposed to figure that out? She went to the bookstores and libraries, searched through job descriptions, but nothing stuck out to her. She always felt confident in the fact that when she found the right thing she would know. Now she wasn't so sure. Nothing really made sense.
This morning she wandered around Muggle London. She didn't really have anywhere to go or anything to be doing at the moment, so she figured this was better than lying around at home. She was glancing into shop windows as she walked by, but paused when she saw a familiar figure in one of them and a small smile slid onto her face. Dom walked into the coffee shop and made her way over to her cousin. "Hey Harper," she said cheerfully, putting on a wider smile. "Haven't seen you in a while. What're you up to?" Hopefully Harper wasn't too busy, but the only was to find that out was to talk with her.

@dominique 09.23.2024 Having the patience for muggle coffee shops to make up her order was a gift, considering her upbringing would have had all of this done in a matter of seconds. She often wondered if it was easier just to make a pot of coffee the night before, letting it sit and cool off over-night, and then warming it up the next morning once she got to work. There were a lot of steps involved in that, and factors (namely family members tossing the cold coffee out) that got in the way of successfully accomplishing that. It wasn’t like the coffee at home was any better than the stuff she was about to get either, and at the end of the day the only difference was the impact it left on her wallet. Somehow getting breakfast out every morning added up significantly at the end of the month. Fortunately where she didn’t save there, she saved on rent – a cup of coffee and a bagel every morning during the work week wasn’t going to make or break her. Motorcycle upkeep would someday though.
But today things seemed to be going much slower, and the orders of those in line before her were creeping out one by one. The baristas were the normal ones, though that didn’t mean they were immune to slow days. Apparently everyone was feeling the heaviness of the hot weather, forcing operations to a crawling speed. The flash of familiar red hair out of the corner of her eye seemed to speed everything back up to real time though, as Harper turned to greet Dominique, who had just entered the coffee shop. “Dom! I’m doing as well as possible I suppose. Have a bit until I need to be into work, so yeah.” She returned her cousin’s smile with a quick hug. “How about you? Done anything fun since graduation?” Her own few months after finishing Hogwarts had been spent idly waiting for her job to start while all of her family members and friends either went back to work or school. There were still times where she wished she had traveled a bit before jumping right into it all. Not like that was impossible still, but having some job security and money would make that decision easier when she decided to make the full jump into it.

Harper wasn't on her way to work! At least, she wasn't in a rush to get there. That was perfect! Dom was excited to have something to do, even it if wasn't for a while. That was fine. She just wanted to have someone to talk to and the fact that she and her cousin hadn't connected in a while made her excited for the exchange. Harper gave her a hug and Dom hugged her back, glad that Harper seemed pleased to see her. She shrugged. "I'm doing pretty well. Still haven't figured out what I want to do with myself," she crinkled her nose and laughed before continuing, "but I'm enjoying myself. I went on a blind date the other day and had a bit of fun." More fun than she expected, at least. She needed to do more blind dates. It'd be fun! She shrugged, "Other than that, I'm just messing around and doing all sorts of things. I've been thinking about traveling a bit, or maybe taking a job in Hogsmeade somewhere until I figure out what I want to do ..." she trailed off, realizing she was talking a lot. "What about you? What have you been up to, other than work?" Dom watched her cousin with interest. She really waited way too long to talk to her cousin.

@dominique 09.23.2024 The tell-tale post-graduation disease: not knowing what to do with oneself. Harper had suffered from it briefly, albeit easily making up for it with a few road trips around the countryside on her motorcycle to pass the time. Her current, and only, job simply hadn’t been available at the end of the school year, so making the most of her free time had to happen. Plus, getting out of the house that summer meant avoiding her siblings, something that had been literally impossible during this past one, and to an extent, still with Ondina. She knew a slight look of disgust appeared on her face at the thought of returning home and seeing her sister sitting on the couch, waiting to pounce on the slightest sign of insecurity. Quickly replacing the curled lip with a nod of her head and a smile once again, Harper listened to the rest of what her cousin had to say. “Blind dates sound kind of fun. How’d you sign up for that? Was it one of the phone apps or, you know, one of ours?” She couldn’t remember for the life of her, how in depth Dominique was with muggle culture. Harper knew that if she really wanted to piss her sister off, it would be by bringing home a muggle and introducing them to the family. Forcing Ondina into niceties and without her magic was the best way to get her to shut-up for more than a few minutes without making baseless threats.
“Can’t say I’ve done too many interesting things lately,” she shrugged when the question was posed. “I definitely need to break away from work a little more than I have been. It’s kind of like being stuck in an endless loop of studying for final exams.” Harper didn’t expect her cousin to fully understand what it was like to work a full-time job yet, though school definitely put a similar strain that a tough job did. At least with work it could be an afterthought once the day was done with. School was non-stop until the end of the term, and that was hell for some. “Other than that?” Harper let out a deep sigh. “I try to stay away from the house for as long as possible every day. Ondina seems to think she’s queen now that she has that fancy internship at the Ministry, or whatever it is she does,” rolling her eyes, her name was belted over the crowd and she quickly held a finger up to her cousin to hold the conversation as pushed through the mass to get her order. Returning to Dom, Harper mouthed ‘table?’ at her cousin before snagging one that was barely left available for more than a few seconds. Thus was the life of a busy coffee shop pre-work hours.

Dom noticed her cousin's expression change for a moment, but didn't comment on it at all. If Harper wanted to talk about anything, Dom was there for her, whether she knew that or not. Dom wasn't exactly inclined to talk about feelings and such, but she would do anything for the people she cared about and she knew that listening was a part of that. Even so, she and Harper hadn't talked for a while, so she wasn't expecting anything right now. She smiled back as her cousin asked about the blind date. "It was one of ours. Got a ... letter from the Blishwick Matchmaking Service," she shrugged a little. "It sounded fun, so I decided I'd give it a go." She smiled at the memory of her date. "It was actually a lot of fun. I got set up with a professional quidditch player," she admitted, her voice lowering to a whisper as she mentioned the wizarding game. She didn't think anyone was listening, but she might as well be a little careful. Wow, Dom was growing up quite a bit.
As her cousin mentioned a need to break away from work, Dom's smile grew a little. "Well, if you ever want someone to show you a good time, I'm always here," she offered. Honestly, Dom wasn't doing much with herself, but she loved finding ways to entertain people. Doing new things was always fun, and discovering things that would be interesting to others was always fun for Dom. She quirked her head to the side as her mind started whirling, trying to think of something that might interest Harper. Dom chuckled and rolled her eyes when Harper mentioned Ondina. "Yeah ... I'm not really surprised by that, to be honest." Dom never really had a lot to do with Harper's younger sister. They were interested in different things and really hadn't interacted much in school, but Dom saw her once in a while. Acting like a queen sounded like a good description. "Once again, I offer my services in having a good time if you wanna get away." She nodded as Harper went to collect her order, then followed her to a table. Dom couldn't help but look around herself in interest. She'd never been to this shop before, but it seemed popular and cute. She sat down and sighed, glancing around a bit more. "This really is a cute little place. Do you come here a lot?" If she did, maybe Dom would come here every once in a while to see her cousin. Running into family was normally a nice thing.

@dominique 09.23.2024 The blind date was set up by Blishwick? Harper had heard about them before, having seen the advertisements around in the paper and what she could only assume were pamphlets with the services provided, sitting on the counters of almost every store in Diagon. She figured she would only go for it if things grew dire – currently they weren’t, and a relationship seemed like more of a constriction than the freedom that she wanted. But there also wasn’t anything wrong with a date or two to pass the time. They could be fun, and if something came of it she was fine with that. “A professional? A big name or a rookie?” There was a world of difference between the two, obviously. Harper was more interested in finding out if it was anyone she had heard of before. Quidditch wasn’t big in her little corner of the Weasley family, nor were most outdoor activities that didn’t revolve around dragons or her motorcycle. Too many risk factors to have any fun.
God, even thinking about what Ondina was doing had the potential to ruin a conversation. That had to mean something, right? Her sister was the ultimate spoiled brat. If she had been, say, a wet blanket, that would have been something else altogether. Then she would be tolerable to a degree. Being a straight up bitch to anyone that could breathe better than her was a hell of a way to go through life. “Yeah…I’ve lost hope that she’ll change. I usually don’t like making ultimatums when it comes to people, but I’ve given her too many chances,” Harper shrugged. “It’s hard trying to give everything just to receive nothing back.” Ondina would only ever need her if it was to further her own agenda. Their relationship was solely a one-sided give and take that favored the younger girl. And saying that she ‘gave’ Ondina anything was being generous. Her sister was like a black hole, sucking the enjoyment out of everything around her and refusing to give it back.
“I’ll take you up on that offer. Honestly, I need to get away from all of this. It’s like being cooped up in school all winter because it’s too cold out to go to Hogsmeade,” she rolled her eyes. The lack of freedom she felt in her own home and workplace was unbelievably suffocating, and if one of them didn’t change soon, she was going to start thinking about alternative methods. That meant either moving out or switching jobs. Preferably both if she could manage it. Dom changed the subject to the café when they sat down, and Harper nodded her head as she blew on her drink as if it would cool it down immediately. “Every day if I’m not running late,” she said through a mouth full of bagel that she had chomped into after seeing little to no success in getting her drink to cool off. “I would eat at home, but that dinosaur is always stomping around and making annoying noises.” Harper also didn’t want the criticism about her motorcycle being ‘too loud’ or that the ‘fumes were exacerbating’ an attack. Ondina was so annoying all the time. If she ever stopped whining about everything, she would be able to breathe like a normal human being. It was an amazing concept that she apparently hadn’t figured out yet.

Dom smiled at her cousin's question. At least Harper was interested. It was a lot easier talking with her cousins when they wanted to talk to her, as opposed to when they were busy or simply talking to her because they felt like they had to. This didn't seem like that kind of a conversation, which Dom was happy about. "Yup! He plays as a beater for the Appleby Arrows. Fin Jones." Honestly, the fact that she'd gone on a date with a guy and that things had gone so well were really encouraging to Dom. Sure, she wasn't looking for a relationship right now, but he was definitely fun to be around and had definitely kept her on her toes.
Her cousin seemed a little upset talking about her sister, which made sense. Ondina definitely wasn't the easiest person to get along with. Even though they'd been in the same year at school, Dom hardly ever associated with her. It wasn't that she avoided her, but ... Harper explained it perfectly. Ondina gave Dom nothing anytime she tried to associate with her, so it was difficult to go back. "I can understand that," she said, nodding a little. "I'd like to say that I think she'll change, but ... I see the same thing when it comes to Ondina."
However, Dom found herself grinning when Harper said she'd take her up on that offer. Good! Dom needed people to do things with her. She wanted to have fun and get out there, but most people were too busy working and such. They didn't have a lot of time (if any) to spend wasting with her. She shuddered at the mention of being cooped up. "I couldn't do that," Dom admitted. "I hate feeling cooped up. So great job keeping on with it." She really did look up to those who worked for what they did, whether or not it was easy for them. She wasn't entirely sure she had the determination for that. "Hmmm ... maybe I'll come here every once in a while then," she answered. "Run into you sometimes. If you're not busy, we can chat and if you are, at least this place is nice." She laughed at Harper's reference to Ondina. Maybe she shouldn't have, but it was funny! "Darn dinosaurs," she snorted, chuckling again. "Glad I don't have any of those."

@dominique 09.23.2024 The Quidditch player Dom had gone on a date wasn’t just some average Joe, he actually played for a real team. The Arrows, as far as she was concerned, always had an excellent season. While sports weren’t really her thing (which was funny considering the love for driving fast cars and motorcycles), she knew enough about the wizarding sport to be an avid fan of it. When tickets were cheap during the slow season, she always managed to scoop them up and go. It didn’t matter which team it was, really. She just wanted to see the players zoom around. “Jones…that sounds familiar. Any idea what house he was in?” It was a relatively common last name, for starters, but there couldn’t have been too many Jones family members that played Quidditch while at Hogwarts. God forbid there was another ridiculously large family like their own. Sometimes it was annoying to be so well known, or have people who thought they knew everything. Harper enjoyed the quiet life, which was somewhat afforded by her father’s obscure profession.
She shrugged again when it came to Ondina. A lost cause was a lost cause. She had just said so herself. Harper knew she would walk back on that sooner or later; she always did. Apparently it was obvious to other, uninterested parties, namely her brother. “Yeah…and don’t get me started on Xavier,” she rolled her eyes. “Though I’m sure you know more about him because Ravenclaw and all that. I’m not missing something am I? Like, is there something wrong with trying to be a normal person?” The constant scrutiny from both of her siblings made it seem like it was. She desperately wanted to lay most of the blame on her parents, but it was obvious that they had only done what they needed to do because of how ‘unique’ the younger two were. There was no way they could have caused what they were like now.
“Please don’t congratulate me on that,” Harper waved her hands in front of her. “It’s not healthy at all.” Taking a sip of her drink, she nodded her head as Dominique said she could stop by the shop occasionally. “I doubt they would miss me at the office for an hour or two in the morning. Super relaxed there.” Which was exactly why she was able to casually stroll in at whatever hour she pleased. Or have a day or two off each week. Obviously that made it look like she was lazy to her dear sister, and was potentially one of the reasons the harassment had started up once again. But who knew? This was Ondina after all. “I can trade you one, if you’d like? You know, if Louis ever gets on your nerves again. I’m sure going for a ride on my motorcycle would get it all out of him,” she laughed.

Dom smiled when her cousin started asking a few questions about her date. She knew that while most of her family enjoyed Quidditch, they normally didn’t get as into it as she did so it was nice that Harper was interested and wanted to know a little more. Maybe she could convince her cousin to even go to a game with her sometime (especially if they were going to watch her date). “He was in Gryffindor, a beater like me. Did you know him?” Obviously if Harper did, the two weren’t close or she would have recognized his name easier, but it could be fun if Harper knew a bit about him. If Dom could convince her cousin to share what she knew, maybe she’d be able to surprise him the next time she saw him.
Harper mentioned her brother, which also wasn’t a super big surprise to Dom. She hadn’t been close with Harper’s brother, even though the two of them were in the same house. He was the quiet type, and it seemed to be because he liked it that way. He often had his nose in a book or was working on something or other. Dom saw him in the common room sometimes, but she rarely approached the boy. She wanted to be able to have fun and he was much too serious for that. Dom scrunched her nose, “Not really. I saw him a bit, for sure, but we didn’t really interact with one another. He was always busy working on things.” Then she laughed. “I don’t think the Weasleys get to be normal. Some of us try, but I know I fail when it comes to that. I’m too impulsive. Being normal is overrated anyway.” It was a lot more fun to not be normal.
Dom shrugged, “Well I think it’s part of being a responsible adult, which I definitely am not. So that’s what I’m congratulating you for.” Being a responsible adult honestly wasn’t something that really appealed to Dom at all, though she would try to do it if she could find something that interested her. She smiled, “Well I definitely like that laid back attitude. That’s the kind of job I would be interested in.” At least, the kind of atmosphere she would like. Dom laughed when Harper offered to help her with Louis. “Okay, I’ll let you know when that happens next. That sounds great, though I might just ask you to take me instead of him.” Why let Louis go have fun when she can go instead?

@dominique 09.23.2024 Gryffindor it was, then. There had definitely been a few Jones family members a couple of years ahead of her, though that could have been anyone. Faces weren’t coming to mind either, so Harper was positive she had only ever heard of this guy in passing. “It’s possible, I suppose,” she nodded her head slowly about potentially knowing him, though still unsure about it. “The only surname more common than Jones at school is ours,” Harper let out a small chuckle. “But honestly, I don’t know. A Jones that played on the house team sounds familiar, but that was when I was either in first or second year. Was he quite a bit older?” That was the only way they could match up Dom’s date with the Jones player Harper was thinking of. A lot of the students that had been more than a year or two older than her had been completely forgotten about since she had graduated – there was really no reason to remember their names unless it was important. The same could be said about those in the other houses of her year. She would probably never see most of those classmates again, family members aside, so holding onto their names seemed useless.
Her brother was more than likely going to be one of those forgotten faces for a lot of his classmates. What was the point of locking oneself away in the common room or dorms, never interacting with others or making an effort to find friends? Even having one friend would ease her mind. As far as she knew, he only had his books, and Dom all but confirmed that for her. “Does he have any friends?” she asked tentatively, already knowing what the answer was. Harper knew that was her responsibility as his older sister to look out for those sorts of things, but his cold demeanor and lackadaisical nature made it even difficult for her to approach him. How on earth would any potential friends manage that? Dominique continued on, explaining that the family should never be normal, and Harper shrugged, “You’re not wrong. Look at my dad.” Working with dragons wasn’t exactly par for the course when it came to being normal. Then there was Uncle George and his joke shop, and the myriad of other odd jobs the plethora of Weasleys had taken. Maybe she was the weird one, wanting to have a normal life.
“Dominique,” Harper said rather stern, making sure not to break eye contact with her cousin, “You’re a million times more responsible just by admitting that. Trust me.” She had been through her own set of excuses post-graduation, and plenty of her friends had been as well. Indecisiveness was absolutely normal after finishing school. There would have been more cause for worry had she gone into a job that she thought would be her one and only, and then hated it immediately. Being a metal charmer wasn’t ideal, but it did allow her to practice more advanced charms, get more work experience, and it paid well. There was no disputing a decent pay check. “What about once we finish here? I don’t think my boss is going to be too fussed if I show up a bit late today.”

Dom couldn't help but chuckle as well when Harper started talking about how many Jones' there were. She considered, nodding her head, "Yeah, he's a few years older than us. I guess I didn't think about that on the date. He was so much fun." Which, to Dom, was one of the only things that really mattered. Being fun and having fun and doing what you wanted (so long as it didn't hurt others) was one of the things that defined her character. She knew it annoyed some people, but that didn't change anything. Dom still behaved the way she wanted to, whether or not other people liked it.
Harper continued to ask more about her brother and Dom shrugged a little, her expression guilty. "Not that I know of?" she made her answer a question. "He might ... I just haven't seen him really interact with anyone. Sorry." She hated being the bearer of bad news. Even when the people she was giving it to knew that it was going to be bad. It just wasn't something that appealed to Dom at all. Dom grinned, "Look at all of our dads and uncles." None of the Weasley's were "normal", except for maybe Uncle Percy, but he wasn't normal just because of how badly he wanted to be. He tried too hard.
Dom paused, surprised when Harper grew quite serious, saying her full name even. She blinked as her cousin explained that she was responsible just because of her admissions. She didn't quite see it that way, but she was in no mood to argue so she smiled. "Thanks Harper. I'll keep telling myself that while I keep rejecting potential job ideas." Dom knew she should just jump into one and try it out to see if she'd like it, buuuuuut she didn't want to. So she wasn't. Her eyes widened, glittering with excitement when Harper suggested they go for a ride today. "If you think you won't get in trouble for it, I'd love to," Dom answered, not even trying to hide her enthusiasm. This was going to be great!

@dominique 09.23.2024 “I’ve found that being fun is all that matters,” Harper mused at her cousin’s comment about the Jones boy, and she was sure Dom probably had the same thought process. Getting a person to their most relaxed state usually lead to the best times, and having fun went hand in hand with that. “Are you going to wait until he calls you back, or will you do it first?” she asked. That was one part that Harper knew she was bad at. She always managed to get wrapped up in the idea of a ‘next time’ and never acted on it. That went for both her personal relationships and love life. It was awful sometimes. She liked to think that she spoke up and made the decisions that really mattered at the correct times, but she was often left with a lot of what ifs, and the potential outcomes that could have accompanied those. The current one was dealing with Ondina while they were alone in the house, the easiest solution being to move out. Her stress would be cut down dramatically too.
The other problem looming right now was the state of Xavier, and Dom’s response had Harper letting out another sigh. She figured that was the case. “No, its fine,” she frowned slightly. “I feel like I knew that already. I’m sure he’d be disgusted with me if he knew I even asked.” Refraining from rolling her eyes, Harper took a quick sip of her drink, lips barely touching the liquid before she felt like she needed to add more, “I worry more about him than Ondina…but you’re right. Normal maybe isn’t the best goal to strive for…” There was he chance that she was going about all of this completely wrong. Maybe there were times where Ondina and Xavier were right and she wasn’t, or even where she chose the path that seemed less likely to have a drastic outcome. Regardless, there were a lot of things to think about now.
“Nothing wrong with that,” Harper responded. “Why go into a field you ultimately want to leave? That’s a waste of time.” Not that she was one to talk. The bouncing around between odd jobs right after her own graduation hadn’t been the smartest thing in the world, but she was pretty content with where she was now. Big things were apparently happening in her field, and the days of charming eating utensils to wash themselves would hopefully be done soon. All Harper wanted to do was get her hands on a cell phone or camera and go to town with the inner workings; make them fully functional within Hogwarts and Diagon Alley all while keeping them safe for muggles to view in the off chance a witch or wizard lost them.
But that was for another day. Right now, she had to finish eating, because a ride was going to follow. “And if I do,” she shrugged, “who cares? At the most I’ll be asked to work overtime one night this week. Not that big of a deal for me.” Quickly finishing off her food and coffee, Harper motioned with her head that she was ready to go, mouth sealed shut as she chewed on the last of her breakfast. “The bike is around the corner,” she explained with a small hiccup, paper plate and coffee cup finding their way into the garbage can next to the exit. “Lucky for you, I always keep an extra helmet on me.” Winking, Harper slid her small bag out so Dom could look inside if she wanted to. It was charmed, of course, the contents containing an unnecessary amount of metal parts for various work projects that she had brought home with her, as well as the extra helmet. “Sorry that it stands out…the salesman thought it fit me for some reason.” Hot pink and reddish-brown hair didn’t fit together all too well, and Harper was unsure if the guy thought it was funny, or if he thought she was a lot younger than she looked. Both were possible, she supposed. Pulling it out of the bag for her cousin, she handed it over. “But, it’s yours for the day.”

Dom nodded firmly at her cousin's comment about being fun. "My thoughts exactly," she agreed. Dom was honestly down to go on a date with anyone, but few of them actually were "fun" from her way of looking at it. That's why the date with Kai stood out so much in her mind. He was fun, inviting and easy to talk to, willing to go along with whatever Dom said. She loved doing things with people like that. They made life so much more enjoyable. She smirked, "I think I'm going to give him about three more days, then I'll reach out if he doesn't first." Dom enjoyed her date with him enough that she knew she wanted to do something else, but she also knew that there were lots of guys who preferred to make the moves. She'd give him that chance, but she wasn't going to give him too long before she'd step up to the plate herself.
"Don't worry, it's not like I'm going to tell him that you asked," she answered with a chuckle. "I mean, I hardly see him, so if we did end up talking, I'm sure that the conversation wouldn't go there. " And if it did, Dom would either lie or direct the conversation elsewhere. She had no intention of causing problems with any of her siblings. That wasn't really Dom's style. She preferred to do things the fun way. "Yeah ... Ondina can take care of herself, I'm sure." At least, that was the vibe she always got from the former Slytherin. She was confident and knew how to do things her own way.
"Thank you!" Dom exclaimed when Harper said just the thing she'd been thinking the past few months. She didn't want to waste months of her life training for something she was going to hate. Dom didn't have the patience for that. She honestly wanted to just figure out what to do with her life, though that in and of itself made its own problems, since in order to find her future job something was going to have to appeal to her in some way. Then again, Dom was confident that when she found the right job, she would know it. That's kind of the way things worked with her.
Dom chuckled as Harper said that no one would care if she was late and if they did she'd just have to work late. "Doesn't sound too bad to me either," Dom answered, glad that her cousin had that perspective. Honestly, Dom just wanted to have fun and a motorcycle sounded great. She followed her cousin out the small shop and around the corner, her smile widening as she saw the bike. She squealed just a little, unable to really help herself. Then she rolled her eyes, "Yes I'm soooo glad you have a helmet. Vic will be so proud of you." And she would, if Dom ever told her about this. Vic was the one who followed the rules, Dom was the wild child. She laughed, "Harper, you're giving me the chance to ride on your bike. I couldn't care less if the helmet clashes with my hair." No one she knew would see her and if they did they would just figure it was Dom being Dom. Sure, she knew how to look good, but most of the time she just didn't care. She took the helmet from Harper, strapping it on and smiling. "Okay, I'm ready!" She didn't quite know how this worked. If Harper got on and she followed, or if she was supposed to get on first, so she waited patiently for Harper to instruct her.

@dominique 09.23.2024 Harper thought it was a good idea to give a little time between the date and the next contact, but Dom was also right about contacting him first if he didn’t first. The guy was a Quidditch player, so there was no telling what sort of training or match schedule he was on currently. The life of a professional player sounded awesome and it was too bad that she had never been good enough to get onto the school team. “You’ll have to let me know how it turns out. I’ll be rooting for you,” she grinned at her cousin. There was probably going to be a lot of that in the next few years or so, now that all of them were graduating from school and going into the real world. Harper had heard stories about all of the weddings held at the Burrow and had been secretly placing bets on who would be the first of the next generation to go for it. The old list had James or Victoire going first. She had never anticipated it would be Anna. Love worked in strange ways apparently.
She snorted at the comment about Ondina handling herself. If it could even be called that in the first place. Her viciousness was hidden by a pretty mask and a ton of makeup, though it had a habit of leaking out every time she opened her mouth. They had all seen her morph over the years, into what she was now. Harper had held out hope for way longer than she should have. That was her own fault too. “Yeah…yeah she definitely can.”
“Of course. I still think that I should have waited longer before jumping into my current job,” Harper explained. “Maybe taken a trip abroad or something. I’ve always wanted to go to America and travel across the country in one of those big camper RVs. Like in the funny family movies, you know?” Or on her motorcycle. The former was more plausible if she wanted to be gone for a while, the latter if she was in a hurry. The real trick to it though was that she wouldn’t settle for anything less than her own motorcycle. Having that transported across the Atlantic would have astronomical costs and she was positive that she would have to get a provisional bike license in the States in order to drive it. If they even let her do that in the first place.
Harper flashed a smile at Dom as she took the pink helmet. “Safety first,” she tilted her head with a shrug. “That and I don’t want any tickets. It’s funny how we grew up zooming around on brooms without a care in the world, but god forbid we get on a motorcycle without a helmet…” Her parents would probably kill her if they saw any of her cousins riding shotgun without headgear on. They almost had once before, but it had been with Ondina. “Looking good,” she said with a thumbs-up before turning to take her place on the motorcycle. “Hold on tight. We’ll have to go slow until we get out of the city. Shouldn’t take too long though.” Harper turned the keys and kicked the ignition, her machine roaring to life. Now that, was magic.
