august 2024 Today, Oscar Gauthier was getting married. A year ago, he couldn't have imagined marriage - couldn't have imagined finding someone who made him happy, let alone someone he wanted to spend the rest of his life with. But then he had met Anna Weasley, and everything had changed. She made him want to be better, and that was infinitely more interesting than having a pretty face, or even making him unconditionally happy. Anna showed him the stars, and how to reach for them. She showed him how to be fearless, and passionate, and kind. She showed him how to love and be loved unconditionally. And today, he was going to get to marry her. Oscar had heard that it was normal to be nervous on your wedding day, but he couldn't managed that. All he could feel was beautiful, burning joy.
They were getting married on a beach, by the ocean. Oscar had spent too much time being afraid of the waves that had almost claimed his life, and he was sick of it. He wanted new memories to replace the old. More importantly, he wanted the symbolism of the water. The ocean was older than both of them, deep and mysterious and dangerous, but also boundless - just like the love he had found. The crashing of the waves was soothing, and Oscar watched as the guests began to seat themselves, preparing for the ceremony to begin.
Today, Oscar Gauthier was getting married - and his bride was about to walk down the aisle.

Anna was so excited. Today was the day. The day she'd been waiting for for months. The day that would change her life forever. She was about to marry Oscar Gauthier, a man who she loved more than she thought was possible. As she got ready, Anna couldn't help but remember all the things they'd been through. The fight that started their acquaintance, meeting with him after being named Tournament champions, all the fun times they had between then and the Yule Ball. She couldn't keep herself from remembering the moment when they finally admitted their feelings to each other. She loved him and she felt so lucky that she still had him. She'd almost lost him during that attack on the Beautbaton's carriage and now ... now they were getting married.
The ceremony was about to begin and Anna was standing in a small building, waiting for everyone to be ready. She watched out the window, taking deep breaths as she waited. It was time. Once everyone was finally sitting, she stepped out of the building, making her way to the aisle, grinning as she looked at Oscar. There he was. She made her way down the aisle, not looking away from him for a second.

It happened in slow motion. Her walking down the aisle, dressed in white and looking like a dream. This was really happening, and Oscar almost couldn’t believe it. He felt like everything he had done in his life was leading up to this moment – the moment he got to marry the woman he loved. She stopped at the altar in front of him, and Oscar smiled. He was supposed to say something, but everything he could think to say sounded kind of dumb, especially since this was his wedding day! He gaped, trying to find words, but eventually, he just settled on the first thing that popped into his head. “Hi.” Oscar Gauthier was an elegant speaker, indeed. He cleared his throat, finding it suddenly dry. He wasn’t nervous – just overwhelmed, and excited, and it made it hard to think about simple things like whether or not he was breathing. “You look beautiful.” Because she did, and he was going to tell her at least a hundred times today. The ceremony was going to start, but those were important things to say first.

Anna couldn’t take her eyes off of Oscar. He was standing there in front of her, watching her walk up the aisle. She beamed as she approached him. “Hi,” she said with a small chuckle. She loved the fact that, for once, he didn’t seem to know exactly what he should say. It was comforting that she wasn’t the only one that got tongue-tied in front of him. Anna could hardly believe that they were here, standing on this beach and about to get married. Despite everything that happened during the last year, all the complications with their relationships and the Tournament and the attacks on his carriage, they were both here. There was nowhere else she wanted to be. “Thanks. You look amazing too,” she whispered, reaching over to take his hand. She was a little nervous, doing something so important in front of so many people, but as long as she was with Oscar she knew it would work out. She turned to face the man who would marry them, stepping forward and nodding at him. She was ready. As he began to speak, it was as if his words went in one ear and out the other. She could hardly listen and squeezed Oscar’s hand just a little bit. This felt too good to be true.
