Edrik knew that the idea he had in mind was simply perfect as he noticed Jess definitely had no clue of his location. He smirked as he looked up at Jess, the grip around his broom tightening to increase his speed as she increased her own. By no means would Edrik lose to his elder, or at least have a few points difference between her. At first, the Krum wanted to taunt her, distract her from the seriousness of the game but as the tension picked up – she became more of a challenge. Finally, something Edrik enjoyed. Being known in Gryffindor as a talented Keeper and Captain, Edrik expected her next moves – considering how close they were to his own hoops.
No longer looking out for Jess but rather the Quaffle that rested in her grasp instead, Edrik’s speed soon increased, flying faster than his senior. Just as the Quaffle left her hands once she dived, the Krum found himself flying upwards at an incredible rate and managed to catch the ball just in time before it passed the hoop. There, in his hands the Quaffle was held firmly while a grin managed to creep onto the corners of the Krum’s lips.
”You’re sly Jess. You’ve never played this way before.” He commented, a laugh leaving his mouth as he looked down at her. Before listening to any kind of reply, Edrik refused to give her a chance and instead flew in the direction they both came from, determined to score at least one of her hoops.

Crap! Of course he was there, he'd been flying beneath her the entire time. Jess only realized it when she looked up to see Edrik catching the Quaffle. Man, he was a lot better than she thought and while she was annoyed by that fact, she was also definitely impressed by it. In a grudging way. He grinned at her, telling her she was sly and that she hadn't played that way before. She quirked an eyebrow, hurrying after him. "So you pay attention to the way I play?" She called loudly enough that he could hear. Jess didn't really think she was on his radar before, but that was nice to know, if it was true.
She raced after him, determined to get in his way, but it was easy for her to tell that she wasn't going to make it in time. At least, not in time to get between him and the hoops. She was able to pull right beside him though, and by some miracle was able to reach over and yank the ball out of his arms. She spun around quickly, zooming across the pitch and laughing. This was a lot more energy than she thought it would be. The good thing was, it seemed like she and Edrik were pretty well-matched, surprisingly. She was very glad about that.

”Why wouldn’t I?” Edrik questioned loudly as he flew; amongst all of his opponents, he always calculated their timings – between flying, passing and even throwing into the hoops of the opposing team, the Krum almost took note of every inch. It helped him calculate new methods of improvement in his mind – another reason why his fellow team mates hate him as their Captain but love him for his wins. In the direction the Krum flew, he passed through a heap of opaque clouds before noticing the rings that belonged to Jess. The grin that touched his lips fuelled the energy that was ready to throw the Quaffle…Until it was stolen from Edrik’s grasp.
”Hey!” He called out, anger leading to the Krum’s brows furrowing. But he knew he could just sit still and complain, so Edrik turned on his broom, zooming in Jess’ direction. He could hear the laughs leaving her lips, taunting the Krum, only fuelling his anger just a little more. But he knew it was just all fun and games. The anger that rested on his face was soon replaced with competitiveness and energy as he zoomed up to her side, gently nudging her as he caught up to her once more. ”Thank you!” Edrik yelled, grinning as he pushed the Quaffle out of her grasp and flew down to catch it once more. As he paused, watching his opponent fly, Edrik flew towards Jess’ rings once more.
@jessavette if you want, with your next response you could end the 1v1 and move onto them chilling like we discussed!

Jess didn’t answer Edrik’s question. It was more a teasing question than anything, since any serious Quidditch player payed attention to the way their competitors played. Obviously, Edrik was a very dedicated player. He wanted to be the best, he wanted his team to do the best and so far it was working, as evidenced by how thoroughly he’d beaten Jess’ team the previous day. She shook her head, focusing on taking the Quaffle from him.
His shout was oddly satisfying to Jess. At least she’d surprised him. He hadn’t expected her to take the Quaffle. Ha! That’s what he got for underestimating her so thoroughly. She urged her broom to go as fast as it could, knowing that he was probably hot on her trail. The next thing she knew he was nudging her and pushing the Quaffle out of her arms. Jess groaned, spinning around quickly. She was above him now, basically in between him and the hoops, so as long as she didn’t let him go faster than her, she should be able to block him.
She raced as quickly as she could, calling down to him, “So how’s this game of tag going for you?” Sure, it was a muggle reference, but she was a muggleborn, so it made sense. Beyond that, didn’t everyone know what tag was? She focused on the hoops and getting there before him, spinning before he could reach the hoops so she was ready to block. She had this! Hopefully.

”Perfectly fine on my end. How about for you?” The Krum questioned in a yell as he flew the skies, in the opposite direction of his own hoops yet again. The game of ‘tag’ that Jess referred to was their never-ending-1-on-1 and while Edrik was enjoying it, he noticed the many sweats that had broken out, trickling down his forehead as he licked his bottom lip in determination. He had to win this game. Just like all the others games Edrik had won in his life. It was a simple but dangerous habit of his, to focus on every game he played in; whether or not it was for fun, practice or a real match. Edrik took every moment seriously.
But as the Quaffle left his grasp, flying in the direction of the hoops, dark eyes widened in hope of a possible opportunity until…Jess saved it. Again. A groan left Edrik’s lips as he watched the Dupont block the Quaffle with the side of her body before the two of them flew in the direction the Quaffle fell in. Edrik hated to be rather aggressive against female players, but today was something different. Jess was a challenging opponent, so the Krum’s mind needed to be screwed on perfectly.

“Just grand,” Jess called back, refusing to let him rile her. At least, not in a way that he could tell. Sure, she was certain that he was going to get under her skin quite a bit over the next little bit, since he was such a good flier and quite a bit arrogant about it. Hopefully she’d be able to give a decent turn-out. That was Jess’ goal, after these first few minutes. She just didn’t want to give him a reason to believe that he was as good as he thought he was. Which was why catching the Quaffle before it went through a hoop was so satisfying. The look on his face was definitely disappointed and Jess was a bit proud of herself. She wasn’t giving him more reasons to look down on Hufflepuff, which was exactly what she wanted, a little more respect for her team, despite the fact they hadn’t quite earned it the day before --- time jump --- Jess moaned as she landed her broom and collapsed onto her back, sticky with sweat and aching all over. Sure, she practiced Quidditch all the time, but this “little exercise” with Edrik Krum took a lot more out of her than she’d initially expected. “I don’t think I’m ever going to get up again,” she moaned, closing her eyes and hoping that he wouldn’t think she was a total wimp. They’d just played hard against one another for at least an hour, so she definitely had a right to be tired. After a few minutes, she turned her head and glanced over at the other boy. “You’re really good. That was pretty fun,” she complimented him. Maybe that would help him get over the fact that neither of them had scored against the other, which meant they were a pretty even match. Jess couldn’t help but be a bit proud of that, but she wasn’t going to come out and show it. She was fairly certain Edrik wouldn’t appreciate that. @edrik

After an hour of going back and forth, Edrik recalled the two-admitting defeat to one another. Beads of sweat trickled down the Krum boy’s face which he found himself swatting away with his robes – frustrated that he hadn’t landed any shot in Jess’ hoops at all. Resting against the grass of the muddy Quidditch pitch, his chest heaved in an attempt to gather more air than he possibly needed. It wasn’t this common for him to be so out of breath, but considering most matches against the other houses didn’t last as long, stamina wasn’t a priority. But…it had definitely become one.. N-Neither am I.” He wheezed out, his hand gripping onto his broom that rested by his side.
His head turned to the side, so his gaze met with his elder and a small smile crept onto his lips. More compliments to fuel his ego. ”Thanks.” He murmured, turning back so the Krum’s eyes settled on the darkening sky, his small grin evident. ”So are you. Loser.” He teased, declaring to his inner-self that Loser would be her nickname for life. The plan wasn’t to obviously draw with the Dupont, but Edrik would be lying to himself if he didn’t admit he was rather joyful that he did.

Jess couldn't help but chuckle when Edrik said that he didn't think he was ever going to get up either. It was nice to be able to relax with the other boy now, instead of that intense competition. She still felt proud of herself for being able to block him. Even though his team beat hers yesterday, he hadn't beaten her today, which she considered a win.
She wasn't entirely sure what she expected when she complimented him, but it wasn't for Edrik to thank her and then call her a loser. Jess could tell by his tone of voice that he was teasing, but she still shot a fake glare over at him. "Sorry, but I'm not going to start calling you Winner, no matter what you call me," she shot back, smirking at him. She'd had a lot more fun with their fame than she expected, and found she felt a sort of camaraderie with the guy now. It was unexpected, but definitely not a bad thing. Jess loved making friends and a part of her hoped that the two of them could become pretty good friends, even if it was just from a small game of one-on-one. She sighed, "Do we have to get up and go back or do you think we're good here for a bit?" Jess didn't want to get up, but if he did she would. She didn't want him to see how tired she felt now.

While his hand gripped onto his broom, Edrik Krum pushed himself up so he sat upwards, the back of his robes stained with a light green tint as it rubbed off from the clean but muddy grass below. He looked over at his elder, a smirk resting on his lips at her comment. ”Even if I beat you for the rest of your Hogwarts Quidditch life?” The brunette teased, pouting in her direction. While Edrik and the Gryffindor team had beat the Huffs the previous day, the Krum felt some kind of disappointment in himself as he couldn’t beat her today. The mini one-on-one had been an eye opener for the young Captain, showing how his skills in other areas of Quidditch were rather disappointing.
Although, the inspiration the Krum had gained from their match was something he found rather enjoyable, his mind racking up thoughts that he would soon bring down to quill and paper. As he let out a sigh, dark eyes looked up at the clouds in the sky, his eyes slowly losing themselves. ”We should go back.” He declared before adding in: ”Going to be eating dinner with my sisters for the first time in forever.”

Jess rolled her eyes at Edrik's next question. He was teasing her, she was almost certain of it, but that didn't mean she was going to stand there and take it. "I'm pretty sure that's not going to happen. You didn't beat me today, so you've already dropped the ball on that one." Sure, Edrik was probably referring to real Quidditch matches, but Jess didn't have to act like she knew that. Besides, now that she'd seen some of his moves she really just wanted to do what she could to help her team learn how to work with them. He was really good and she'd learned a lot from this exercise with him. He was sitting up now, mentioning that they should go inside and Jess made a face over at him, though she sat up as well, looking at the clouds too. "Probably," she answered, her tone definitely rebellious. As much as Jess loved studying at Hogwarts, she lived for the time on her broom. Going inside always seemed like a bit of a disappointment, but at the same time she knew she couldn't just fly around all day long. "That sounds like fun," she commented when he said he was going to sit with his sisters. Jess didn't have any siblings, but that wouldn't stop her from enjoying her morning. "Okay, let's get going," she mumbled, groaning as she rose to her feet. Now that he'd mentioned food, she realized she actually was pretty hungry. --- the end --- @edrik
