With everything that had been going on, Natalie felt the urge to reach out to her sister in law and invited the woman for some one-on-one time. She knew that Ginny had to be feeling completely overwhelmed, even if so much time had passed, and Natalie wanted to be there for her and help her with whatever she needed. So, tea it was. Natalie thought an afternoon tea would be a good distraction from their lives and allow the two a chance to talk and catch up. She made arrangements at the tea shop in Diagon Alley and got there early to wait for the red head to arrive. It was a weekend, a day, she hoped, that Ginny didn’t have to go into work. Natalie had the weekends off for the most part, they sometimes called her to come in if there was a big emergency, but they had another vet to cover those days.
When Natalie saw her slightly older sister-in-law enter the tea shop and she stood to hug her. “Ginny dear, how are you? It’s lovely to see you.” Natalie inserted in her sweet voice. While Natalie was younger than Ginny, and every other Weasley, she had married one of the older ones, so she sometimes felt a little older than she was, because she was constantly around her husband who was treated so.

[googlefont="Open Sans Condensed:300"] BUT WE DON'T WANNA GROW UP [attr="class","next"] So much had happened in such little time that she felt like she was sometimes drowning. Losing her memories had been the first step of it all, but after her husband disappeared into the night leaving behind a single note, she felt overwhelmed. Over time, it seemed like one should expect the worse when it came to the life-or-death of Harry Potter, the patriarch of the Potter household. Then came the trashy gossip about her being in love with someone else and having planned Harry’s death herself, and then Ron finding his wand alone in the crumbled leaves of the ground. Ginny couldn’t take much more of it and have left herself locked in her office at work, pushing paper after paper through her hands. Even at home, she kept herself busy, the silence of it all slowly getting to her – sometimes she wasn’t even home, spending much of her time with her mother. Sleeping in the bed that she shared with Harry was just a reminder that she could be a widower. He was ‘The Boy Who Lived’ so what was different this time? Getting in contact with her sister-in-law, Natalie, made her feel like maybe she wasn’t lost in the fold. She agreed to meet up with the slightly younger woman and had planned her schedule around it. Luckily, she was able to rearrange some things and get the okay from the boss, the main head of the Prophet, and had arrived not long before the arranged time. She hit the money just as she entered the door and not a second after was she eloped in a hug by the blonde. Ginny was never much of a hugger, or when she was it was unusually she that started it, but this was welcomed, and she quickly returned it. It felt nice being hugged by a family member, something her mom always did when she stopped by and needed a nice long cry. She smiled as the two parted slightly and the other woman spoke, “It’s great to see you, Nat. And if I’m honest…, I’ve been better. How are you? How’s Charlie? The kids?” she questioned.

Natalie let Ginny go, but was glad to have the hug returned. She looked well, at least, which Natalie figured was a step in the right direction, at least she was still taking care of herself. The girls sat down and as they looked over the menu, Ginny admitted that she had been better and Natalie nodded. She didn’t want to give Ginny any signs of pity or sorrow, she knew that she had to be getting that from everyone else around her. Natalie felt the desire to have Harry back and hurt at the loss of him as much as anyone else in the family. While she hadn’t been born a Weasley, and didn’t know a lot of them well, she did very much feel like a true part of the family and thought of Harry, and loved him, as a brother-in-law. “I know it.” was all she sat about it. If Ginny wanted to talk more about it, Natalie would be all ears, but she wasn’t one to push or pressure.
Ginny turned the conversation to her, she asked how Natalie was and how the kids were. “Oh I’m fine. Charlie’s good too, both of us are busy working. It’s nice to be working together though, or at least in a similar field.” they weren’t always at the same place, but at least they had similar interests in dragons. “The kids… well… they’re a handful but they’re all doing quite well. Harper wants a dog and of course, we can’t get one because of Ondina’s condition, so that’s been challenging, but we’ll figure it out.” Natalie didn’t want to admit that them ‘figuring it out’ would probably end in Harper moving out. Natalie wasn’t sure that she was ready to have children out of school and not living at home. “How are your three?” she asked just before the waiter came for their orders.

[googlefont="Open Sans Condensed:300"] BUT WE DON'T WANNA GROW UP [attr="class","next"] While Natalie wasn’t born into the Weasley clan, she married into it by way of her brother Charlie and was one of the many sisters that the young witch had gained. During her childhood, growing up with a gang of brothers was hard for her, and she always felt like she was drowning beneath their masculinity, maybe that was why she became the way she was—tough. Ginny was never very girly, mostly because she only had her mother to turn to when it came to makeup and dresses and such, but seeing as the family was impoverished, she barely got the best of things. Maybe that was why she grew up so humble because she knew what it was like to have less than others, marry Harry didn’t change that—but it helped them both out in the long run. Harry gained a family, one that he already had with the Weasley group, but Ginny gained opportunity and lost her fear on how to provide. She smiled as they let go, and looked at her sister-in-law as she explained that she was well, as was her brother, and that they were busy with their jobs. She began speaking about her children, about Harper wanting a dog but unable to get it because of Ondina’s medical condition and she nodded. “Well I hope that you can compromise, and make both happy—it is never easy being in such a predicament,” she said truthfully. She smiled, “All pretty distant these days, but that’s understandable with what they are all going through. However, I haven’t heard from James in a few days while he searches for Harry—I’m a bit worried, but I’m sure he’ll write as soon as he can,” she said, biting her bottom lip slightly. She was worried about all of her children, each more distant than the next and she prayed that she wasn’t a bad mother for letting them to their own devices.

Natalie sighed when her sister in law explained that she was sure a compromise would be made. There would be one made indeed, she thought. It was already made. “It seems the only compromise that can be made is Harper moving out… and so she is.” Natalie said, trying not to let her emotions get the better of her at the thought of the first of her children moving out of the house. She never thought that this day would come. She was ecstatic when they wanted to move back home after school. But now Harper was hunting for a flat and Natalie couldn’t blame her, though she still didn’t want to watch her go. “It’s hard when they leave. Of course Charlie and i will help her however she needs, but knowing that she’ll be okay doesn’t make the fact that she’s going to be living somewhere else any easier.” Natalie had become a parent so quickly that she had barely had enough time in her youth to be a young woman or a wife. She married and began having babies as soon as she finished her veterinarian training. But now, with her whole life still left ahead of her, not even in her mid 40’s yet, Natalie wasn’t sure she wanted to let go of being the parent.

[googlefont="Open Sans Condensed:300"] BUT WE DON'T WANNA GROW UP [attr="class","next"] ‘It seems the only compromise that can be made is Harper moving out…and, so she is.’ Ginny was a bit surprised at the news, but to be honest, many people this age moved out of their parents home to start their adventure. Her son James had done so, and there was talk that Albus was thinking about it. Lily was the only one that was still living at home as she finished her Hogwarts career, but she was sure the young witch would leave as soon as she could. Now she knew just how her mother had felt when they all moved on with their lives and left the burrow so lonely. “And—how do you feel about that?” she questioned curiously, the emotions playing in Nat’s eyes clear to her. She understood what it felt like to watch a child leave the nest; she had gone through it already. As the woman stated that knowing that her daughter would be okay on her own doesn’t make it any easier having her leave, and Ginny nodded. She had felt the same way when James had left, then again; her emotional state was different due to her memory loss. She didn’t even remember James as a baby or being his mother, but it was not the same for Natalie, whose memories still laid within her mind. “It gets better, I promise. You just got to make sure they stay in touch and visit often, or you visit her in this case—with the dog and all,” she said with a soft smile on her face.

Ginny asked how Natalie was feeling about Harper moving out and the blonde woman sighed, “It’s terrifying. I trust her completely. And I know she’ll be fine. I guess what’s really terrifying is that we’re old enough to have children moving out of the house.” she admitted. Natalie was young, she knew. Barely in her 40’s Nat was much younger than her husband and hadn’t been in the world on her own for very long before she got married and had her first child. She was 3 years younger than the youngest Weasley and still had kids who were the same age as Ginny’s were. Time had definitely gone by in the blink of an eye. “I’m sure I’ll see Harper just as much as I do now.” Natalie nodded. She being so busy with work and Harper being so busy with work, only saw each other on the occasion. They often passed one another in the evening, but Natalie was used to staying on the dragon reservation overnight and not coming home for days at a time unless she was needed by Ondina. Natalie then decided that was enough of that conversation and remembered what Ginny had said about James, “I’m sure he’s fine, she’s a talented young man.” she decided. “I’m sure he’s just busy and out of contact range.” she added.
