December 2nd, 2024
Daniel agreed to meet up with Kyle McgLaggen for a drink and to chat about the Quidditch season. Kyle was a decent guy as far as Dan could tell and it wouldn't hurt to just have a little chat. If this had been a year ago Dan would have definitely refused, considering he avoided people rather intensely at the time due to his abilities. Being an empath still wasn't easy, people's emotions around him were still so loud, but he had been able to handle it a little better now, so it wasn't the worst thing meeting with Kyle in a public place. Dan had actually been to the Leaky a few times since graduating. He found the emotions there were generally warm and cozy - aside from the occasional heartbroken person in the corner booth. He arrived early, ordering Butterbeer at the bar while he waited for Kyle - they could pick a seat together. @kyle

@daniel 12.02.2024 Excited, nervous, confident, happy, nervous again and excited. So many different emotions had gone through Kyle’s mind as he took the evening train from Liverpool to London. He had made this kind of trip to many different cities across the Queen’s land this season so why was this time any different. Not only was meeting up with professional players to talk with them and get to know them a part of his job, but it was something Kyle really enjoyed doing. The social necessity of meeting new people and forging new friendships was what made him the happiest, when pairing that with his favorite thing in the world it most of the time was a winning combination. There were times when he had these meet ups with players that he had negative interactions. He found that sometimes people have been negatively effected by the stardom and popularity that being a professional sports player brings. The whole thing has a way of turning normally fine people a bit sour. Perhaps that’s why he was feeling nervous. Maybe he was concerned about how kind Daniel Hoh would be? Not really, Kyle knew Daniel, he knew him pretty well. They had become pretty good friends bonding over their shared love for Quidditch, the two of them had met back during the year of the tri-wizard tournament. To him Daniel was a rather kind guy, quiet and intelligent and an otherwise friendly person. At least that’s what Kyle knew, arriving on the idea that his nervous feeling came from the still new concept of meeting up with people to talk about what makes them tick as players.
When the train arrived in London Kyle made his way down his regular path making his way to the all so familiar Leaky Cauldron, the place they were going to be meeting. As he entered the dimly lit bar the sharp odor of drinks and the smell of potato’s hit him in the face like they were hanging right within the door jam. He looked around for a moment trying to pick out his friend. Finally he smiled as he saw Daniel standing at the bar a butter beer in hand. ”Hey mate, sorry for running behind! Hopefully I didn’t keep you waiting to long.” He said as he walked up to the bar next to Daniel.

Kyle wasn't there on time, but Dan didn't worry yet. It hadn't been that long and he wasn't one to be paranoid for no reason. Alas, Kyle entered and Dan turned toward him with a smile. His sincerity was clear even if Daniel didn't have the ability to read his emotions. "No problem," Dan stood, pushing off the bar and then fetching his drink. "Nah, I don't mind waiting and it wasn't that long. Where did you want to sit? Drinks on me, but you gotta pay for your own food," he joked, chuckling. Dan was known for making jokes when he was with the right people. He liked Kyle, he was easy to get along with. Though, Kyle was clearly nervous. Well, clearly to an empath. Daniel hoped that he didn't come across as intimidating now that he was a professional player or something... he'd feel bad if that was the case. But, it was a little understandable, he supposed. Kyle was in a position now where he'd deal with a lot of professional players, though, so he'd have to get used to it. Daniel stepped away from the bar, but he'd let Kyle choose the seats. @kyle
