Joe was now in the swing beside her, but Dom was still a bit higher than him. He had pushed her, after all. "You've already been left in the dust," Dom argued, glancing over to him and smirking as she continued to swing higher and higher. "The worst part is you've got no one to blame but yourself, since you gave me the headstart." Dom wasn't too proud to accept help, especially if it helped her win in something else. Her mouth dropped open as he brought up the "real competition". "You are so on!" She agreed, pumping her legs harder. The higher you went, the farther you could jump, right? Dom wasn't about to let herself be outdone by an American, no matter how cute he was. She looked over at him again, feigning concern. "Now, you're not going to rescind my invitation to be your date if I beat you, right? Cause that would be terribly unsportsman-like." Dom highly doubted he would, but maybe she could distract him by teasing him. It was worth a shot.

HOGSMEADE WEEKEND: December 2024Joe pumped his legs on the swing as Dom continued to egg him on. He could tell already that she was very competitive. Typically, Joe was a very sore loser, but to a pretty face he was happy to make an exception. At least when it wasn't involving quidditch. He could suck it up to a competition on swings...this was nothing. Teasing Dom was fun though. Joe snorted when she joked about him taking back the invitation if she beat him. Shaking his head at her, he sighed. "Nah, I could never revoke your invitation, but I may question you for sport enhancements..." Joe joked, before continuing with a light but sassy tone. "A true gentleman would let the lady win anyways if he knows what's good for him." Joe winked at her. Loving that they could tease and play with little to no effort. Joe didn't have to worry about offending Dom because she was a cool girl. She knew that Joe could take a joke too. Joe pumped his legs, quickly catching up to the redhead. "Ready? You say when!" Joe told her with a playful smile, waggling his eyebrows at her as he prepared to jump after a couple of final pumps.

Dom laughed and rolled her eyes when he said that he wouldn't take her invitation away, but that he might question her. "Good. If you were going to take it away, I'd have to go easy on you," she quipped easily. Not that Dom really would have gone easy ... but she might have claimed to if he was going to get fussy about losing to a girl. Joe didn't seem like that kind of person though, and she was pleased when he proved her right. Her jaw dropped when he mentioned what a true gentleman would do. "That's what a gentleman would have done a hundred years ago," she argued with a scoff. "A real gentleman would give it his all and be honest instead of saying that a girl only won because he didn't try." There was no way Dom wanted him to cop out of their competition by saying he was being a gentleman. That was ridiculous.
She smirked over at him when he told her to say when. She was going as high as she could on the swing now and was pretty confident in her ability to jump well. "Okay, I'll go first then, riiiiight ... now!" She said a moment before her swing reached the top of the arch. She jumped out, laughing as she sailed through the air and bending her knees as she came toward the ground, sticking the landing easily. She turned to watch Joe, not taking a step. She'd gone a good distance and was truly curious to see who would win.

Joe turned to Dom to listen as she said what a true gentleman would and wouldn’t do, his lips tugged upwards, green eyes flickering with amusement as he chuckled. She was very competitive. Merlin, he loved that. Someone to finally match his competitive nature. ”Well, it’s a good thing I hate losing then.” Joe admitted with a laugh. ”Show me what you got.” Joe challenged playfully with a howl as she got ready to jump and stick.
Dom gracefully soared through the air and easily stuck her jump with good form. That was actually pretty impressive. Joe pumped his legs two last times before releasing his hands from the chains of the swing and flying through the air. His feet planted right beside Dom, but not as clean as a stick as her. He tittered forwards and backwards for a split second before locking his ankles and standing straight. Joe turned to Dom with an expecting look, waggling his eye brows. ”Your form was better.” Joe snorted. His eyes tore down to the ground to look at the placement of their feet and who went further. They both did pretty good. Could easily be a tie, but if they were going for cleanliness, Dom was the clear winner there and he was willing to admit that.

Joe didn't seem to mind her correcting him, laughing and admitting that he didn't like losing. Good! As long as Dom knew he wasn't planning on just "letting" her win. That was utterly ridiculous and not something that she wanted anyone to do for her. Dom was far too competitive for something like that.
Dom turned to watch Joe, definitely taken by surprise when he landed almost right beside her. How did he get this far. Her eyebrows rose in surprise before she shook her head, trying to hide how impressed she was. Then she decided there was no use. "I can't believe you got just as far as I did!" Dom exclaimed, gesturing to their feet. He mentioned that her form was better and Dom tossed her shoulder, like that wasn't a surprise. "I always have good form," she answered with a smirk, unable to help herself. Then she sighed, "Fiiiiiiiine. I guess I can call it a tie. Don't be surprised if I challenge you again sometime." Then again, she'd probably challenge him to ridiculous competitions every time she ended up doing things with her.
She glanced down the street and then made a face before looking back at Joe. "More people are starting to come. You should send them all away so I don't have to go back to work." Honestly, Dom didn't mind working, but she was having much more fun right now with Joe. Going back to work right now just didn't sound like much fun.

Joe was having too much fun playing with Dom on the swings. Doms excitement at how close they were in the competition made him chuckle. It was obvious that she wasn't expecting much from him. He was a proper athlete and loved a competition anyday. She announced a tie and he accepted it happily with a high five. Joe preferred winning, but sharing a tie with Dom was okay in his book. "Future challenge already accepted." he nodded firmly with a smile, before sending her an outrageously flirty eye brow waggle. "Oh, more like..you have 'outstanding' form." he corrected her salaciously, letting out a breath laugh, more to laugh at his stupidness. She'd know he was kidding. Well, half-kidding. Dom had a great body.
When she looked over toward the shop, he frowned slightly, he forgot she was technically working. "I can go in there with a disguise and tell everyone how much the treats suck..." Joe stated playfully harsh, nudging her in the side. "I'll also tell everyone that I'm pretty sure redhead gave me food poisoning." he teased, a flicker in his eyes to show that he was just playing. "We should probably start walking back now." he said with a smile, he was glad that she was allowed to hang out with him for a few minutes, and he got a hot date for his families annual New Years party. He knew that would be a lot of fun.

Joe offered Dom a high five when she declared their competition a tie and she couldn't help but laugh. He was high-fiving her? Apparently that was something Americans did, but she could join in. She laughed when he agreed to her future challenge. "Oh, you might want to wait until you find out what it is," She warned. Dom had a reputation for being incredibly impulsive. Joe might know that a little bit now ... but he would learn much more if he continued to do things with her. She quirked an eyebrow at him when he told her that she had outstanding form and then she winked. "Well, at least someone noticed," Dom quipped. She liked how easily the banter came with Joe. He was flirtatious and fun and it didn't seem like he was taking any of this seriously, which were all good and important things in her book. She rolled her eyes at his next offer, "Yeah, cause that won't get me fired if my boss finds out I'm behind it." It was fine. She was mostly sure that Joe wouldn't actually do something like that. He was just trying to lighten the situation, which she really appreciated. Her jaw dropped at his next joke. "I'll have you know I'm a great cook!" Kind of. "And besides that, I don't make the candies, I just sell them." Yes, that was definitely a better selling point. Dom shot a glare in his direction, but it didn't last long while Joe was smiling over at her. "Okay, yeah, I probably should get back. Thanks for the break, and the invite." She walked back to the store quickly, nodding at her boss as she entered. Dom took over the floor almost effortlessly, though her mind was less on selling candies and more focused on how much fun New Year's was going to be. --- the end --- @joseph
