Though Brandon told himself he didn't need the reassurance that he looked all right, he did. He was glad that Rosie told him he looked nice, as she brushed soot off of him. Good. As long as they got it all off now, he'd be happy. He just didn't want to look like a mess in front of her parents. He smiled when she said he looked handsome, admitting that she liked him after he kissed her. He kissed her again quickly, "I like you too," he muttered as he pulled away, winking. At the mention of her parents, Brandon grew a little more serious. "Right. Well, I hope so." He looked down at his clothes again, brushing them off a bit more. "Should we get going? I'm sure they can't wait to see you," Brandon told her with a gentle smile. He was nervous, but he wouldn't let that mess with her excitement. rose harriet granger-weasley

After a few more moments of them lingering in the pub, he asked if they should get going, insisting that her parents had to be excited to see her. Rosie agreed and knew that they shouldn’t keep them waiting, but she also was still a little nervous for her parents to meet Brandon. Not that she thought that they wouldn’t like him, but they had never met a boyfriend of hers before. Not that she had ever had a boyfriend before. The closest she ever came to a date before Brandon came along was making Albus Potter take her to the Yule ball so she didn’t have to go alone and top stop him from sulking all night. “Yeah I suppose we should.” taking his hand she lead him out to the village and began to walk with him down the lanes towards her family home, which was a 15 minutes walk from the pub down the snowy streets of Dublin. “I’m sure they’ll ask a lot about your work.” she told him as they walked. “My dad especially will want to know what it is that you really do all day.” she warned.

Brandon glanced around the pub for a moment as he waited for Rosie to tell him if they should go or wait a little longer. He chuckled a little when she took his hand, saying that they probably should. “I’m sure your parents are excited to see you,” he said, squeezing her hand as he followed her down the lane. She started saying that her parents would probably ask a lot about his job and what he did with his time. Brandon laughed, “I’m not sure how much they’ll like what I say. Maybe I should start out showing them your song," he joked, nudging her shoulder. He was more nervous than he was letting on, but he didn’t want to make a big deal out of it. It’d probably be much better to pretend he wasn’t anxious. “So you grew up here? Did you walk to the village a lot as a child?” he asked. Maybe hearing more about Rosie’s childhood would make him less nervous. rose harriet granger-weasley

Rosie laughed but also felt her cheeks blush when he teased about showing them her song. She wasn’t sure how her parents would take him singing or performing for them. She kind of hoped that he didn’t. She didn’t want them to think that he was a show off or trying to draw their attention to him for his talents rather than his person. Rosie knew Brandon, of course, and she knew what kind of person that he was, but she wanted her parents to like him for his person. She hoped that they would. “Yeah I grew up here. My dad works here in Dublin so mum and I came into town a lot to see him and run errands.” her father, being a muggle, liked to do things in a muggle way. There wasn’t a lot of magic used in her house for housekeeping purposes. She lead him a few blocks further and they turned down her street. It was a winding, narrow road, just the right size for one car, as they walked down the snow covered street, she squeezed his hand again, still feeling a little nervous.

Brandon could tell, by the blush on Rosie's cheeks, that she was not super interested in his idea of showing their song to her parents. He laughed a little, reaching over to her and wrapping an arm around her shoulder. "Don't worry, I wasn't actually planning to do that. I was just kidding," Brandon said, kissing her hair before releasing her. He nodded as Rosie started explaining more about how she grew up here and a bit about their family dynamic. They turned down a street and seemed to slow down a bit. Rosie squeezed his hand and Brandon smiled, looking over at her. "Don't worry, it'll go fine," he said, putting on a confident face for her. They enjoyed the day with her parents, who actually seemed to approve of Brandon, as much as possible at least. He enjoyed the day, just glad that he could spend it with Rosie without interruption. No work or anything to get in their way. It was the perfect Christmas Day. --- the end --- rose harriet granger-weasley
