just as sane as i am.
THE POTTER'S HOME ALWAYS LOOKED LOVELY TO Luna. Even after it had been rebuilt from the ground up, it had a busy little buzz to it that she'd found absolutely divine. Plus, their stove made the very best tea, but that wasn't why was visiting this time around. She'd quite forgotten that this sort of visit was necessary - most of her Christmas break was spent raiding their attic and wrangling the Nargles, whom had bred with a frightening speed over the winter term that Luna hadn't been home.
No, Luna realised a little late that she hadn't seen Ginny since Harry had returned. She quite suspected that Harry had told her of her part in his disappearance - she'd never taken him as a liar, and she didn't resent for doing so. Better that it be in the air, so that they could clear it together. Luna had brought a rather unruly bush of dittany, which she'd pulled from her garden just that morning. It was a plant of healing, something they were all in dire need of. But, Luna had also gone to the trouble of hanging things from it like a miniature Christmas tree.
The fragile branches were hung with sparkling tinsel and little iridescent bells. Candy canes were scattered at the base and every time she walked another fell. It took her a little longer than usual to make her way up the Potter's front path, but she got their eventually. When she arrived, she twisted her wrist and the door popped open on its own. It had been a long time since she'd had to knock, and she didn't even think twice as she stepped inside.
"Ginny?" Her melodious voice filled the echoing foyer and she stopped, peering around her very large, very loud gift. "I'm quite certain you're home," She said softly, setting the tree on the stairs as she peered in to the living room and then the kitchen. "Your chimney's going very enthusiastically." At that she smiled to herself, picturing it like an old man puffing a very large pipe. "I brought some dittany." She added, as if it was quite typical.
