As Rose turned away from him, Scorp quickly pushed off the freezing wall and let himself react to it a little by bouncing up and down a bit. When she started to turn back around, he leaned back up against it as if he hadn't moved at all. There she was, raising hat scary eyebrow at him and folding her arms over her chest. Must she always try to look so intimidating? Then she asked why he was really here. But she said Scorpius. That in itself was enough to throw him for a loop but the fact that he didn't really know why he was here was what really stumped him. He didn't say anything more a moment before shrugging, "What, a guy can't torment his favorite Eagle while she attends to personal letter writing and whatnot? I had nothing better to do," he lied, casually. He couldn't think of a good reason, really, why he had decided to hang around while she sent off her letter. He had already sent one... so what was the point in sticking around? Well, he would never know. Or, well, at least he wouldn't admit to himself why... Rozalina Antonina Nightshade

Rose wanted to hope that he was still here because... well, she secretly hoped against hope that perhaps Scorpius felt the same way about her that she did about him. But that was impossible. She didn't feel anything about him! She couldn't! But when she looked at that blonde hair... and those eyes... it was hard to deny that she didn't feel anything for him. She could never tell anyone, of course... but it was slowly coming to realization that Rose indeed had a crush on Scorpius Malfoy. But there was no way he felt the same way about her... right?
It seemed that she had indeed thrown him off by calling him his first name. There was an awkward silence between them before he spoke up again. Rose rolled her eyes when he spoke. "Really?" She asked, skeptically. Rose highly doubted that. "What? No one else you would rather torment today? None of your friends available... or something?" She waved a hand in front of her passively. He couldn't just be hanging out up here because he had nothing better to do... she was certain Scorpius Malfoy always had something better to do than hang out with her. Besides, weren't they supposed to hate each other or something?
Rose wanted to know why he was really here. But she didn't want to seem like she actually cared, when she actually really, really did. She just couldn't let Scorpius know that... she couldn't let him know that under all of that hard, stubborn exterior was a caring little girl that just so happened to have strong feelings for the just as stubborn boy in front of her.
@scorp ooc: Haha, Rose is is denial.

Her skepticism made Scorpius laugh, and he was sure that she just loved that. He nodded and took a step closer to her, "really. I just delivered a letter, I am caught up on school work for the remainder of the day," he explained, "and as for my friends, well..." e gave a smug little chuckle as he shrugged his shoulders. "They get enough of me. I figure I'd be gracious enough to let someone else have a taste." In all reality he hadn't talked to his friends much today, considering he had knocked out a bunch of studying and schoolwork. Not to mention writing the letter home, which took a lot of careful wording and planning. So then why was he really here? Was it simply to bicker with the little brunette, or was it the fact that she intrigued him? He wanted to figure out how she ticked, why they hadn't gotten along all of this time. The family names alone were enough to cause them to bicker, but there was something deeper there. Something he didn't understand, and he hated not understanding things. Least of all Rose Weasley. No, he chose to stay because of her, he had figure that much out for himself... but the why was where he was getting stumped. Rozalina Antonina Nightshade

Rose raised an eyebrow at the only Malfoy child as he spoke, only slightly annoyed this time with his laugh. Obviously he wasn't going anywhere, and she was tiring herself acting so cold and uncaring. She rolled her eyes at his comment about giving someone else "another taste" of his presence. The comment was arrogant but at the same time, Rose couldn't help but be glad he was still around. She crossed her arms yet again. "Well, aren't you just a saint," she said sarcastically planting her feet more firmly down so as to stand her ground. She wasn't going to budge first, that was for sure. Or so she thought.
Finally Rose let out a bit of a frustrated sounding sigh. "Can we stop this?" She asked, more harshly than she had intended. "It's tiring." She let out a more quiet sigh now, her arms returning to her sides. "There's no one around, so we can forget about keeping up appearances," she said. Her voice, though she was tired and exhausted of fighting with Scorpius and she wanted to be more civil, her voice was still harsh. It was like she didn't really know how to speak kindly to him. She had spent so long actly coldly to him because she always thought she was supposed to, with their last names and all. But now, as Rose stood there, getting as close to admitting defeat as Rose Weasley ever could, she realized she was tired of it. Tired of fighting with Scorpius. Tired of feeling so angry whenever he was around.
Because truth be told, she felt butterflies when he was around.

Scorp couldn't help but smirk a little as she called him a 'saint', clearly dripping with sarcasm. He didn't speak up, however, holding his ground and she was holding hers. Finally, and a bit suddenly, she let out a sigh and spoke rather harshly. His eyes widened a little and he took a step back. "This is about keeping up appearances?" he answered, a little snidely as if he didn't understand what she was saying. She was right though, there really was no point keeping up the rivalry. There family wasn't around, none of their friends were around, why did they fight so often anyone. He let out his own sigh, looking down and running a hand through his hair. "Listen, Rose," there it was again, her first name, it felt strange rolling off the tongue, "I don't know how else to act around you," he was speaking completely upfront now. Rose was offended by Scorpius's response. She took a step back and scoffed. "Oh, come on, Scorpius," she said his name again and blinked self-consciously. "Don't pretend like you don't know what I'm talking about, Malfoy." She said, putting emphasis on his name. He had to know, he had to be playing stupid. Malfoy and Weasley? They were meant to be enemies. Not to mention, her father would kill her if they were even friends. She couldn't imagine what he would say if.... no, he wouldn't say anything because that would never happen.
As Scorpius ran his hand through his hair, Rose watched him. She took a moment to herself to think about just how handsome he really was. Especially when he ran his hand through his hair like that... Then he said her name and Rose blinked again, feeling something like butterflies. Why did he do that to her just by saying her name? Truth be told, Rose didn't know how to act in front of Scorpius either... but then again everything right now was feeling so natural. "I think..." she took a moment to pause, trying to think of what to say. "We could start like this." She gestured to the space between them. "Just... talking... like normal colleagues." She looked up at him, waiting for a response... she couldn't help but hold her breath as she waited to hear what he thought about such an idea.

She used his first name again. Then she switched back to his last name. He felt his stomach sink at that, clenching his fists involuntarily. He let her have that one though, he deserved it. He was playing stupid just so that he wouldn't have to admit that they were doomed to be enemies. Why did that bother him so much? The fact that he couldn't befriend this girl? Rose, a beautiful name. He felt strange saying it. Like it was unfamiliar, forbidden and exciting. Any teenager would get a thrill out of pursuing something forbidden. Look at Romeo and Juliet. Granted, they were horrible at communication so they died. Well... weren't Rose and he just as bad at communicating honestly? Then there she was, calling them out on their cruelty and uncivil behavior. Normal colleagues, eh? He waited a moment, leaving his hand in his hair... finally, he let his hand drop and gave one firm nod. "Okay, fine," he said sternly at first but his expression softened. "How was your day?" There, that's a place to start, right? Rozalina Antonina Nightshade

Rose tried to pretend that she had not notice Scorpius's fists clench when she used his last name again. She averted her eyes and instead looked at him in the eyes, waiting for him to respond angrily, like his fists showed hint to. Rose was really hoping he wouldn't get angry again, but then again - that was what they were supposed to be with one another: angry enemies. Doomed to carry on the fued their fathers started before them. Why, of all the times they had confronted one another like this, did Rose feel this way now? She longed so badly to close the space between them and just be herself with him. It couldn't be that hard.
The tone of his voice made Rose's eyebrows furrow in frustration, for she thought that he was going to be difficult even further but then... his expression lightened and he asked her how her day was. Rose raised her eyebrows then and blinked at him for what felt like a very long time. Her lips parted, wanting to speak but momentarily at a loss for words. He had done that so effortlessly. Rose let out a little breath and then straightened up, composing herself once again. "Um, it was good," she said a little awkwardly. Normal conversation like this would have been a piece of cake with anyone else, but she had never spoken to Scorpius this way... it was odd, but it was a good feeling. She felt a bit more at ease when she returned the question. "And yours?"

Rose's eyebrows seemed to have bipolar disorder, furrowed one moment and raised the next. He smiled a little at the thought, but hoped it was just masked by their 'polite' conversation. As her lips parted, he waited for sound to come out but several moments passed without her saying anything. Those moments felt incredibly long to Scorpius and he found that he was still staring at her lips when she actually started to speak. He moved his gaze back up to her eyes, seeing the awkwardness in her eyes, but grateful that she answered the question and returned it.
He let out a breath he had been holding, "it was good," he said. He felt the sudden urge to tell her that he and Ondina were back on again, but he didn't say it. He didn't owe her that information, right? Though, a strong part of him felt as if he should say something. He honestly hadn't thought of that until this moment, momentarily forgetting his current girlfriend when he ran into Rose out here. He felt a little guilty at that, and dropped his gaze away from her eyes and to the sky behind her. "Good to hear. How's your family?" he then turned back to her. Rozalina Antonina Nightshade

It was really hard not to notice how nice of a smile Scorpius had. How his smile just looked perfect on him. Just as he happened to be staring at her own mouth, she was staring at his. How truly tragic that two people who longed so badly to press their lips against one another had no gumption to do it at all. Rose felt sad that she couldn't do that... that she wasn't brave enough. That she cared too much about what others, specifically her father, thought about her. It was her happiness! Not theirs! Why couldn't she just be more brave?
Rose nodded slowly as Scorpius said his day was good. Secretly she wanted to know how it had been good, and she was then sad that she hadn't been there with him for it. She cursed herself silently for thinking that. She did not need to be thinking about him this way. It was inappropriate! He was her cousin's ex-boyfriend! Honestly, she had always kind of ignored the fact that Ondina had always been on and off with one of her worst enemies, but since they had broken up... she felt more at ease around Ondina. "They... are good," she nodded more slowly as she thought of what to say next. "Mum and Dad are busy as ever at the Ministry... with everything going on and all..." she spoke a little quickly now. She thought it best to talk about a topic that would be easier to speak about... even if people were dying.

He nodded again as she explained that her family was good, but busy at the ministry. "Understandable..." Scorpius was rarely one to indulge in awkward silences but here he was, not knowing what to say. For a few moments he just stood there, until he blurted out more words to break the silence. "Al and Ondina seem well. I mean, not with each other... obviously..." those two were always fighting, and it was a source of incredible stress for Scorpius. Rose had more than likely dealt with it a lot in her childhood and even up to present. Still, Scorp was in an even more awkward situation. He was dating Ondina, Al was his best friend and Rose was... well, Rose was Rose. That made things complicated.
He bit his lip, shaking his head until a soft chuckle came out of his mouth. He turned to face her. "See? We're getting good at this," even though they really weren't They were being really awkward, in fact. Still, joking seemed to lighten Scorps heart a little bit as he looked at Rose. The one person he wanted but couldn't have. Stop it, he told himself, his face momentarily showing signs of weakness.

Rose let out a heavy sigh at the mention of her cousins. While Rose was much closer to Albus, she still loved Ondina just as much. She had just not been around Ondina as much as a child because her parents had been so protective over her because of her frailty. Not to mention that Rose's parents and her Aunt Ginny and Uncle Harry were much more close than any of her other aunts and uncles. It was almost like James, Albus, and Lily were her own siblings, they had spent so much time around one another as children. But one thing that had been a huge issue ever since Rose could remember was the constant tension between Albus and Ondina. The two didn't get along at all, and it was always a huge stress at family get togethers. The children almost always hung out around one another, often breaking off into groups. Albus and Rose normally stuck together, but Ondina being the same age and year as them would often tag along. The two fought constantly, always butting heads. Rose knew Scorpius was no stranger to the same feeling and dilemma that Rose faced with her cousins, as he was Albus's best friend and he had surely dated Ondina long enough to know how much she disliked Albus. Rose looked down at the ground, briefly closing her eyes as she shook her head. "I doubt those two will ever get on," she said as she looked back up at him. Her tone was slightly exhausted, as it saddened her that two of her cousins disliked one another in such a way. "I'm sure you know just as much about it all as I do," she could not help but chuckle a bit at this similarity the two of them shared. Ha, a similarity! One in which she shared with him! That brightened her spirits to know.
Rose could not help but smile at Scorpius as he chuckled, commenting on how good they were at talking. "How very honest of you," she joked along, knowing fairly well that they were not ood at speaking amicably. In fact, they were veing fairly awkward. But truth be told, it really helped to joke with him, it made her feel more like herself. Like she was just hanging out with a friend... a friend that she wanted so much more to be more than friends with...

"Yeah, I don't know what to do with those two. Especially since Als my best friend and Ondina is-" he stopped turning his face to the side for a moment suddenly very interested at the owls to his left. He took a breath and looked back at Rose. "Anyway, you've probably been in the middle of it before as well, right?" Gods please let this subject change work, let it work. He should have just finished his sentence, but now he had made things way more awkward than they needed to be at all. Smooth work Scor, smooth.
At her little comment about his 'honesty' in saying they were getting good at this, he let out a nervous laugh. He felt himself starting to tense up though, because the thought of Ondina hanging in the air between them was forcing it's way back into his mind. "Yeah... what about you- I mean- you took Davies to the Slug Party. Is that... a thing?" maybe if she had a boyfriend she wouldn't be so upset....
Wait, why did that even matter!? Ugh.

Rose was managing to keep a smile up until Scorpius mentioned Ondina again. Just as he looked away, she did as well - thanking Merlin that he did not finish his sentence describing what exactly Ondina was to him. What did Rose expect, after all? The two of them were obviously dating again. Rose bit her bottom her lip as she, too, pretended to be interested in the same owl Scorpius seemed to be looking at. She looked back at him just as he turned his head again as well. She raised her eyebrows in relief when he instead kept talking about Ondina and Albus. "Oh. Oh, yeah," she nodded more exagerrated than she probably should have. "Sooo many times!" She tried to put an honest smile on her face but it really came off a little forced.
Scorpius was just surprising her right and left. At his mentioning of Liam Davies, Rose could not mask the confusion and surprise on her face. Then she realized how that must have looked and she immediately tried to cover it up with another poorly put together smile. "Oh, no. Liam is... he's just a friend." She shook her head. That's really all Liam was to her. But then Rose saw this as an opportunity. Scorpius was with Ondina... which made Rose extremely jealous. What if... she pretended to date Liam to make Scorpius jealous? "I mean... we hang out a lot, but it's nothing serious... quite yet." She said, suddenly with a slightly more mischeivous tone. No harm in just trying to make him a little jealous right?

Scorp nodded along with a little eye roll as Rose claimed he knew just as much about it as she did. "It's basically my curse every single day," he chuckled-but it really was. They all shared a common room together and... well, Rose didn't even see half of what went on between the two of them. Well, between the three of them since Scorp was always in the middle of it. That was one of the main reasons he and Ondina broke up so often.
"I must be honest though," he reached up and scratched the back of his head as he spoke, "I'm not sure what else we're to talk about... I mean, can I walk you back to... wherever you were headed next?" what was he doing? Ondina and he were...
Well, Ondina wasn't here was she?
