Alyra’s first day in England had been spent getting settled into her new flat and fighting off the jet lag that was still trying it’s best to drag her down. She was fighting through it well, but the 7 hour time difference and the 13 hour flight had drained her of her energy and she was still fighting to keep going, but she felt like she was fighting well. She walked into the ministry of magic on her first day on the job and looked around. It certainly looked different than her home Ministry did. Lee had worked for the MACUSA, but she was located and worked from California, on the west coast. She only went to the New York headquarters when she needed to, and she tried to put it off as much as possible.
She set her things down in her new, empty office and then was greeted by the receptionist, saying that the minister had asked for her to come up to her office when she got in. While some might have been intimidated by the idea of meeting with the minister on the first day, Lee was ready. She figured it would be good for them to get to know one another and would give Lee a chance to ask questions and try to figure things out, she was here for a reason, after all.
She made her way through the maze of a building and finally found the Ministers office. Lee checked in with her assistant and then stood waiting until she was called in. She was given the option to sit, but she wanted to keep as much energy as possible, and she knew sitting right now would cause her brain to start to crash, instead, she walked around, looking at the pictures and new clippings on the walls.

Today on Hermione’s agenda was meeting the MACUSA representatives that had transferred over to London to give the Ministry some much needed foreign aid. She looked at the list of people she was expecting to meet today and saw that first up was a woman named Alyra Pond. She smiled, the name reminded her of an old television program called Doctor Who her parents used to watch somewhat religiously. Checking the time, she figured it would be another twenty or so minutes before Alyra got to the office, so she left to make herself some coffee and spend a few precious moments away from her office. When she returned, she was surprised to see a redheaded woman waiting for her just outside. “Good morning, Alyra Pond I presume?” she said, a warm smile on her face as she stretched out her hand. “Hermione Granger, Ministry of Magic, welcome to London,” she told her politely. She gestured that Alyra should follow her into her office, and she sat back down behind her desk, setting her coffee down on the marble coaster. “How are you finding London so far Miss Pond?” she asked, curious to learn more about this MACUSA woman. @alyra

Still very jet lagged, but filled with forced energy, Lee’s eye flickered up when she saw a woman enter the area and then come over to her. The Minister. While Lee had never met the minister before, she had heard a lot about her from her co-workers at the MACUSA, especially after she got the call a few days ago to come over to the UK and assist their efforts. She was happy to finally put a real face to the woman - she had a friendly demeanor about her and instantly Lee felt a little more comfortable with the whole thing. “Yes, that’s me. It’s so nice to meet you, Minister.” Lee said with a smile, accepting and shaking the womans hand as she did so. Lee followed her into the office and sat down across from her desk when the woman sat down herself. She asked how she was enjoying the city and Lee nodded, a little awkwardly. “Well it’s certainly different than Los Angeles.” she answered with an amused laugh. “But it’s beautiful from what I’ve seen and most of the locals have been helpful.” not all had been friendly, but she didn’t expect that. People weren’t friendly in Los Angeles or New York either. “I’m looking forward to getting to know the city and the ministry here better.” she nodded once more. It was why she was here, after all.

Hermione nodded, a small smile playing at her lips . “I am glad you think the locals are friendly, though people here would tell you otherwise,” she said with a soft chuckle. The English were known to like Americans, mostly because their customs meant they tipped waiters far better than any European did, but also they had a joint history. “England and America have been allies for nearly two hundred years since the War of 1812; I am glad to welcome American emissaries here to continue the relationship,” she added. She leaned forward a little, studying the redhead in front of her with a slightly intense look. “Well, why don’t you tell me a little bit about yourself Alyra?” she asked, finally sitting back in her chair. It was always difficult to know where to begin when meeting new people, so Hermione preferred to just start at the very beginning. Many people knew her own story; her infamy preceded her in most conversations because of her work during the Second Wizarding War. So she liked to learn the stories of others that weren’t as well as hers. They were just as important, in her own humble opinion. @alyra

Being on a first name basis with the minister put Lee a little on edge. She hadn’t expected to be addressed by her first name, nor would she think to address the Minister by such, but maybe things were different here in England. Maybe people were friendlier and less formal. Or, maybe the minister really just wanted to get to know her and wasn’t one for formalities. Lee could appreciate that. “Oh, well I was actually born here in London, my family moved to the states when I was 8, to Los Angeles, California, as I mentioned. I was schooled at Ilvermony. I’ve been an Investigator for 5 years, before that I was an Auror.” she explained. She didn’t like getting into her story much, mostly because there wasn’t much to say. She had a normal life, a normal childhood, a normal school experience. The only thing out of the ordinary was her job and the things she had done because of it. "I take my job extremely seriously, and I plan to do everything in my power to help you solve this situation." she added.
