May 2015 Upon Graduation from Ilvermorny Academy of Magic, Lee immediately went back to her home in California. She only had a few days at home before she was expected to report to New York City for Auror training. She wasn’t sure exactly what it was that she wanted to do, but, she knew that she needed to do something in the law and criminal justice. So she had applied and signed up for Auror training at the MACUSA headquarters in New York. Somewhere that she didn’t really want to be, but, she knew would only be for a few months, and at least it was during the summer where it would be warm.
Before they had left the castle on the East Coast, Lee and Savannah had agreed to meet up in California for a few days before making the trip together to New York City. Lee had no idea what her friend had been up to over the past few days since they had last seen one another at the graduation ceremony, but, she was excited to see the girl again. She sat in her car outside of the Union Station in sunny Los Angeles California and waited to see her friend walk out the doors.

Savannah could hardly believe she'd graduated. It wasn't a bad thing, most people considered this the beginning of her life. The problem was, she didn't know what she wanted to do. She knew she didn't want to follow either of her sibling's examples. She'd never be able to compare with either of them. Besides, they both despised the sight of her, so Savannah didn't want to put herself through that.
So, once she arrived home, she begged her parents to let her travel around the country for a bit. She asked to be able to go see Alyra, who was in California at the moment. She was supposed to go to New York to start her training soon, but Savannah hoped the two would be able to spend some good time together before that happened. Luckily, her parents agreed, so a few days after graduation, she took the train to California, more than excited to see Lee again. Lee was her best friend.
She stepped out of the train station, blinking in the bright sunlight and looking around. She suspected Lee was here somewhere, but Savannah wasn't entirely sure where. She knew her friend had a car, but she couldn't remember what it looked like. She glanced around for the redhead, but didn't see her either. Where was Lee? She pulled out her phone and texted her friend. Lee, are you here yet?

Lee was parked with a clean view of the train station doors and watched as people began to filter out, she had seen the train arrive a few minutes earlier and didn’t think that Savannah would take very long to collect her bags and come out. Lee realized she hadn’t been very specific when she told her friend that she would pick her up at the station, and Lee hadn’t even thought that Savannah might not remember her car. So when she saw the blonde come out of the station, she let out a laugh as her phone buzzed from the cup holder in the center console. She glanced at the message and then honked her horn. With the windows already rolled down in her white Honda Accord, she stuck her arm out and waved it at the girl so that Savannah would see her.

Savannah was glaring at her phone, waiting for Lee to answer her. She jumped when she heard a car horn beep and looked up in surprise, her eyes skimming around the parking lot. Then she spotted the white car, an arm sticking out and waving. Was that Lee? Savannah stood up on her toes a little, smiling and laughing when she recognized her friend. She started walking over to Lee, a definite skip to her step. She put her bags in the backseat and then opened the passenger door, sliding in. "Can you take me to the nearest hotel please?" Savannah teased, pretending like she was treating Lee like a taxi. Then she laughed, leaning over to give her friend a big hug. "It's so nice to see you again," she told Lee.

Lee laughed and rolled her eyes when Savannah asked her to take her to the nearest hotel. “If by hotel you mean my house than sure.” she got the joke that her friend was making and definitely appreciated the reference to being a taxi driver or chauffeur for her. Once her bags were in the back and her friend was securely in the seat next to her, Lee through her arms around the girl too. “It’s nice to see you again!” she agreed, though it had only been a week, Lee missed her best friend, and she missed Ilvermorny in general. While she was glad to be done with school, she missed the experience and the castle and the people in it. But now she was back in her happy place, under the LA sun with the beach nearby and palm trees swaying along the roadsides. “I can’t believe you’re here.” she knew they had it planned for a while and Savannah had come to see her before, but it always still so fun have her best friend in her environment. “How was the trip?”

Savannah wrinkled her nose when Lee mentioned bringing her back to the house. “You mean no hotel?” she asked, definitely teasing, but wanting to draw it out just a little longer. She smiled, laughing a little as Lee gave her a hug. Really, it was so nice to see her friend again. It was weird not seeing one another daily. Even though that happened every summer, this time it was different. This time they wouldn’t be going back to school. “It’s definitely a good thing I could visit before you get all caught up in training, huh?” she teased. Really, she was proud of Lee for knowing what she wanted to do. Savannah still had no clue. “How far away is your place again?” She was ready to drop her things off and then spend some time doing whatever with her best friend. Savannah just wanted to have a good time.

“Well I can pull over and you can go find one on your own if you want.” Lee laughed as she finally pulled onto the main road from the train station. “Though I don’t think I’d really encourage that you walk around in LA.” she teased. No one walked around this area. Los Angeles wasn’t really a safe place to walk, and everyone drove everywhere to get around anyway. Savannah insisted that it was nice that she got to come and see Lee before she went off to training and Lee nodded. It was weird to think that soon she’d be in New York training as an auror for a few months. She still wasn’t sure exactly what she wanted to do, but getting the auror training and certifications would probably be good since she was pretty sure that she wanted to go into some kind of criminal justice. “You still want to drive to New York with me?” she asked, fairly excited for the road trip ahead of them. Savannah asked how far away her house was and lee laughed. “It’s only about 10 miles from here to Beverly Hills where I live. But I’d get comfortable if I were you. It’ll probably be 45-50 minutes.” Los Angeles traffic was the worst no matter what time of day it was.

Savannah tapped on her chin, like she was thinking about Lee's suggestion. "Nooo, I think I'll go along with whatever you have planned," she said eventually, waving her hand in a "continue on" sort of gesture. She smiled as she glanced out the window. It didn't matter how many times she came to visit Lee, the view always took her breath away. Unsafe as LA might be for people walking around, it was still very pretty.
She turned to look at Lee when her friend brought up driving to New York together. "Definitely! I need some adventure in my life now we've graduated and I don't get to see you every day." Honestly, Savannah was a little sad that soon enough she wouldn't be able to see Lee whenever she wanted, but she wasn't showing that. She didn't want her friend to have any reason to feel bad about anything. She laughed at Lee's warning. "You're talking like I've never been here before. Sooo what do you want to talk about on our way there? Have any guys or anything to talk about?"

Lee was excited for their cross country road trip. And it really was cross country, come to think of it, it was probably as far across the country as one could go. They were going from the South West to the North East, completely diagonally. Lee knew that she could easily take a portkey to New York, she knew that was what most wizards did who had to commute to work in New York, but where was the fun in that? She wanted to do something really fun before her whole life turned into training and work. “Well then an adventure it’ll be.” Lee insisted, a confidence to her voice. How hard could it be to drive across the country? Savannah teased, saying that Lee was acting like she had never been to her house before. “Well you’re the one who asked.” Lee reminded her with a scoff.
Savannah asked if she had any guys or anything to talk about and Lee laughed again. “Yeah, you know me. Always rolling in the attention of men.” Lee had dated a bit, but nothing serious. She wasn’t exactly easy to please. She needed someone who didn’t mind how headstrong and take-charge she was. There weren’t many men like that around her. “I got a letter from my friend in England. He’s just graduated too and going into medicine.” she told Savannah, not that she would probably care since she had never met the boy, but he meant a lot to Lee and Savannah had heard a lot about him through the years. “What about you?”

Savannah nodded when Lee said it was going to be an adventure. She was ready for it! Unlike her friend, Savannah didn't know what she wanted to do now that she'd graduated. A part of her was hoping that maybe she'd be able to figure out what she wanted to do with herself while she was on this trip with her best friend ... but Savannah wasn't sure if that would happen. I can't wait!" She agreed, squealing a little bit in excitement. She ignored Lee's other response, figuring out it was fine.
Lee joked about "rolling in the attention of men" and Savannah laughed. She obviously wasn't serious about it, but Savannah still thought it was funny. "Yes, you and me together friend," she teased right back. Her eyes widened a little when Lee mentioned getting a letter from her friend. "Oh! He's the one you wrote to all throughout school, right?" She didn't know much about the guy, but she knew Lee wrote to people. "What's his name again?" She shrugged when her friend asked about her. "I don't have much going on, especially in the men department," she answered with a little giggle.

Savannah asked about Lee’s friend, asking for his name and if he was the one that she had written to all of the time while they were in school. “Yes, and his name is Rory.” lee was sure she had mentioned his name a few dozen times throughout the years, but she didn’t blame Savannah for not remembering. It wasn’t like Savannah had ever met him, or likely would ever meet him. Lee wasn’t even sure that she would ever see him again. Maybe someday she’d make a trip to England to visit, but she never saw herself living there where it rained all of the time. And she had dropped hints about him moving to California in her letters a few times. He didn’t seem interested. Or, he didn’t catch on. Savannah shrugged and said that she didn’t have anything to do with men in her life. Lee smirked, “Well maybe we can change that out here, West Coast Men are certainly better than anything you can find back East,” she teased.

Savannah snapped when Lee said the name of her friend. “Oh, yeah that’s it!” She giggled, “I remember, sorry.” She knew it wasn’t that big of a deal, but Lee did bring up the kid every once in a while. “Is … he’s a no-maj, right?” For some reason, Savannah’s mind wasn’t entirely focused today, but that was okay. She was trying to remember someone they only talked about occasionally. She laughed again when her friend started talking about West Coast men. “Oh really? And how are we going to find ourselves with these men?” she asked with a smirk, sure that her friend already had some sort of a plan. Going to the bar, going to the beach. Either one (or any other suggestion really) would be fine by Rachel. She just wanted to have a good time with her best girl before she headed off for training.

The question on whether Rory was a no-maj wasn’t one that Lee had a real answer for. She assumed so. She had to assume as much. She didn’t remember them talking about magic when they were kids, at least not in any way other than a pretend setting. She had never heard from him about going to Hogwarts, or whatever their school was called, and she had never told him about Ilvermorny. “Yeah, he is.” she confirmed. Somehow she’d know if he wasn’t, she was sure. Savannah asked how they were going to find some guys and Lee shrugged, “We can go to the beach, or a club, there are so many clubs and bars in Beverly Hills.” she promised. “Plus, everyone who lives here has money, so that’s a perk.” she teased. Though almost all of them were no-majs, she knew, but she decided not to bring that up.

Savannah nodded when Rachel confirmed that her friend was a no-maj. Part of Savannah felt bad for Lee. It was obvious to her that her friend really liked this guy. Honestly, how many people kept in contact with a childhood friend for their whole life? At the same time, her being a witch made a difference. From all she knew, no-maj's were definitely not interested in furthering a relationship when they discovered that their partner had magic. It just wouldn't work. She wouldn't say that out loud though. Savannah didn't want to ruin the mood. She grinned when Lee explained her plans. "Ooooh it's been ages since I've been to the beach!" Maybe the beach wasn't the best place to meet people, but Savannah was excited about it. She smirked over at her friend, "Or a club would be fun too ... which would be a better place to meet cute guys?" she asked. She hadn't spent as much time doing this sort of thing as Lee had, she was sure.

Lee decided not to talk any more about Rory. They would be pen pals for the rest of their lives with nothing else happening. Odds are they wouldn’t ever meet in person again anyway. Nothing more would happen, even if he was a cute doctor. Lee wouldn’t marry a no-maj. It just couldn’t happen. But Savannah seemed to be interested in going to the beach and maybe to a club as she mentioned. “We can do it all.” Lee smirked. It was her last week before her career started. Soon she’d have to keep high standards and couldn’t be in clubs or bars as often. People like her couldn’t be seen doing things like that on the regular. “We’ll make this week fun. It’ll be my last hurrah.” She decided.
