"I'm here, Rach." he yawned, stretching out on the mattress, accidentally punching the wall with a loud thud as he extended his arms out and cursing under his breath out of surprise. The bed was too small for him. This cottage was too small. They wouldn't be able to stay there for too long, but for now it was perfect while they were trying to keep low. Travis rolled over so that he could face the blonde, trying to read her body language and the look on her face. Travis placed a hand in her hair, "Did you get any sleep?" he asked her, a hint of concern in his voice that couldn't be masked. Travis never had trouble falling asleep because he was a typically lazy person who wanted to shut the world out. He honestly hadn't noticed if she tossed and turned after her initial outburst.

He knew her so well. Travis answered her almost instantly and Rachel felt herself relax a little, letting her eyes close once more. She wasn't ready to get up yet, was she? She couldn't decide, but decided to debate her options with her eyes closed. It just felt more comfortable that way. A small smile crossed her face for just a moment when she heard Travis punch the wall and swear. Yup, he was definitely here. She felt him shift and opened her eyes to look at him, the smile returning at his concern. A few years ago, she never would have expected him to ever ask something like that, but things were different now. She shrugged the tiniest bit. "A little?" Wow that sounded lame. "More than I've had in a long time though." There. That was better, wasn't it? "I didn't have any more ..." nightmares. Why couldn't she make herself say the word? She didn't want to admit it, even though they both knew what she was talking about. She reached up and placed her hand on top of his while it was still on her hair. She closed her eyes for a second and took a deep breath. "I'm fine." It was a lie, but one she felt like she had to say. So many things about her now weren't fine, but she had to pretend like they were or she'd crumble. Would Travis understand that? Would she give him the chance to?

Travis rolled over on the mattress to face Rachel, trying to read her, stroking a blonde strand of hair from her face. When she shared that she didn't have any 'more', he tilted his head slightly until he put the pieces together... She meant nightmares. It was hard for him to relate to her struggles because he barely ever dreamed, or remembered a dream after waking for a few hours.
It was quiet for a moment. Travis wasn't sure if he should ask her about it, but he wanted to. Call him selfish or nosey for not keeping it to himself, but it wasn't like they had anything else to do while they were on the run. The least they could do was sort out each others problems. Travis cleared his throat before sitting up on the mattress to stretch, letting out a full hearted yawn first. "What are you dreaming about?" he asked her calmly. "Is it Azkaban?" he asked, the word Azkaban making his stomach hurt, but he didn't want to show it on his face.

Rachel loved it when Travis played with her hair. Even for just a moment. It was calming to her, a reassurance that he was here, that he actually did care for her, despite what her nightmares told her. She closed her eyes and relaxed for a moment, part of her relieved that he wasn't asking her to explain. She wasn't entirely surprised though. Travis wasn't normally into drama and such, unless it interrupted something important to him.
She opened her eyes when he sat up, watching him with a small smile on her face. He yawned and then asked a question. The smile froze on her face and she looked away when he followed it up with another question. "Kind of," she answered, wishing she didn't have to talk about this, but knowing she would. She'd do anything he asked her to. "I started having them when I was in Azkaban, and in the ... dreams, I always end up there." She bit her lip. "They're pretty consistent." Fine, he wanted this so she'd tell him everything. She rolled over so her back was to him. "You and I are normally on a job. We get separated, but everything is fine. The next time I see you, you have someone with you and you say you don't need me anymore, that they are ... better than me. We get caught, but you and the girl get away and I go to Azkaban on my own again." Her voice trembled as she finished. She knew it was irrational, knew that Travis cared for her, that it wasn't likely he would ever leave her, but that was one of her deepest fears. She couldn't look at him right now. Rachel closed her eyes and took deep breaths, trying to calm herself.

Travis was slightly taken aback when she explained her dream. He tried to appear straight faced but his expression faltered ever so slightly at her sadness. He couldn't blame her for feeling this way, not with how she had seen the way he treated people in the past. Humans were disposable to him his entire life. All but Rachel. He loved her. She was his partner in crime and life. When he thought about romance or love, he thought about Rachel, there was no one else because she already showed him her worth years ago. Breaking free from Azkaban was his second chance with Rachel. They weren't really sure what they were going to do, but they'd do it together. They would figure something out.
Travis was silent after she was finished. The man clenched his jaw as he sat up on the mattress with his back against the wall. "That's a nightmare, Rach, I wouldn't ever do that to you." he told her severely. Travis pulled her into his arms and he held her there, offering her comfort, "There's no one else I'd rather have as my 'partner in crime'." Travis promised her before continuing with another promise, "This time around we won't get caught...I will kill anyone that gets in our way."

Rachel wasn't looking at Travis when she admitted the truth to him, so she missed whatever his initial reaction was. She was scared to see it honestly. She figured he wouldn't leave her, she knew that Travis loved her, but what if he was annoyed that she was so insecure? Rachel didn't want to see that. She waited for him to say something, but he didn't. The silence was killing her and Rachel only lasted a few seconds before she turned back to look at him.
Travis' jaw was clenched and she bit the inside of her cheeks, feeling like an idiot. She shouldn't have told him the truth. Then he finally spoke, telling her that it was a nightmare and that he would never do that to her. Rachel exhaled a breath she didn't know she was holding as he pulled her close. She snuggled close, relaxing in his arms and smiling as he continued. "Thank you Trav," Rachel breathed. At his last promise, she looked up at him with serious eyes, meeting his as she nodded in agreement. "We won't get caught and we'll stay together," she answered, lifting herself up to kiss him hard on the lips to seal the promise. As long as she and Travis were together, Rach would be okay. She'd be able to find herself again, pull herself back together after all that happened since the last time they saw one another.

Travis held her close, taking in her warmth and smell. It was still felt surreal for him to have her in his arms again after so long in the dark depths of Azkaban. Now as he looked back it all seemed like a bad dream, but it was reality, and it terrified him. He wasn't sure if his freedom was a ticking time clock, he'd do whatever it took not to go back. He'd change his identity, they'd move nightly. There wasn't anything he and Rachel weren't willing to do to stay together.
Shifting on the mattress, he unraveled his arms from Rachel, "I'm going to make you breakfast." he told her, placing a kiss on her lips before crawling out of bed.
