Joe could tell that there was something much deeper going on. Kinsey was trying to explain, it seemed difficult to get it out. Since she was struggling, he was trying to keep his face neutral, he didn't want to laugh or anything out of impulse. Sometimes when things were too serious, he would laugh nervously. He was trying for Kinsey because she was having a hard time. The Ravenclaw said that she thought she was going crazy, which caused him to cock his head to the side. His mouth opened, but she was explaining more, thank Merlin. Kinsey had been experiencing nightmares that were effecting her daily life. That wasn't something he had ever dealt with, it sounded horrible. His face faltered, but more out of empathy. "That's horrible, Kinsey." he told her, "I'm sorry you're going through this. Have you tried to get any help yet?" he asked her expectantly, searching her eyes. Joe wasn't sure how long she'd been going through this or how severe it was. This sounded pretty serious.
Kinsey mentioned that he wasn't in her dreams, which sounded like a good thing. Joe could tell by the look in her eyes that she needed reassurance. She looked so sad. His hands reached to cup her face, "You're not worthless or unwanted, Kinsey." he told her solemnly, green eyes trying to drill it into her head. A part of him wanted to kiss her again, to show her, but he knew she was fragile. Joe did want her though, it wasn't fair that she wasn't getting the attention she deserved. Joe attempted to meet her eyes when she apologized, "Don't be sorry, you're going through a lot right now. Just know it's going to be okay." he said, stepping closer to her. Joe wasn't really good with words of support but he was trying for her.

Kinsey really wasn't sure what Joe would think. She was nervous he would think she was crazy, but she still told him the truth, watching him carefully to see his reaction. She could sense his desire to comfort her and felt herself relax even more, relieved that she was still in his arms so she could feel his intentions. Her lip trembled when he empathized, apologizing to her and asking her if she'd gotten help. Kinsey shook her head. "No, I don't really want to tell anyone. I'm nervous that I actually am crazy," she confessed. She told Toby, and now Joe. She didn't think she wanted to tell anyone else. "I'm trying to figure out what's happening to me. Spending a lot of time researching in the library," she admitted. "Sorry again for missing our study sessions, I really haven't missed them on purpose," Kinsey added. She wouldn't do that to him. She sighed, her eyes closing for a second when he told her, outright, that she wasn't worthless or unwanted. She needed this. Needed someone to tell her that she was special, to tell her that it would be okay. "Will it though?" She asked. "What if I can't ever get it to stop? What if I have to deal with these nightmares forever?" The thought was terrifying and she stared up at Joe, trying to find some sort of peace. "You ... you'll still be here for me?" she asked, feeling so needy. She just needed someone to trust, someone that wouldn't judge her, that might even be able to help her. "Kiss me again?" Kinsey whispered, wondering if Joe would even want to after everything she just dumped on him, but she wanted to feel his reassurance. @joseph

Joe watched as Kinsey explained that she hadn't gotten any help yet. Honestly, he couldn't blame her. He pulled a sigh past his lips, offering her a softer look. Joe could tell that she was having a rough time, he felt bad for giving her a hard time for missing class. "If there's anything I could do to help, don't be afraid to ask, Kinsey. I promise I won't tell anyone." he told her severely, trying to show her that she could trust him. "All you can do is take it one day at a time. You just need to remember that it's all in your head, nobody hates you." Joe said, pretty sure of himself. Like who could hate Kinsey Bainbridge?
The girl looked at him, appearing to be seeking reassurance. He didn't wait to answer her, he was sure of this. "I will be here." he told her with a nod before opening his mouth again to speak again, more realistically, "The only way I won't be is if Ilvermorny opens before graduation--and I highly doubt that will be happening." Joe said honestly, the words causing a pang in his stomach. He wasn't going to lie to her and promise that he'd be there forever.
Then, she asked him to kiss her. Joe being the hormone driven teenage boy that he was, couldn't resist a kiss, especially from Kinsey Bainbridge. His head cocked to the side to give her a look for a second, more to make sure she was serious. But he leaned in and obliged... She needed a distraction and he was happy to be that distraction if need be. Joe tilted her chin to kiss her hard, as a way to show her that she is worthy, she wasn't damaged goods but completely desired. He kissed her passionately, pulling her close to him as his arms wrapped around her to kiss her heatedly.

Kinsey would never be able to fully express her appreciation for Joe Fontaine in those moments. He listened to her, telling her she was fine, offering to help her and promising to keep her confidence. She felt the small bit of relief come to her as he spoke. At least he didn't think she was crazy. At least she had someone other than toby who was offering to be there for her. "Thank you," she muttered, just before he started to tell her to take it one day at a time, that no one hated her. Obvious he hadn't met Priscilla Rosier, but Kinsey wasn't about to say that. She didn't want to talk about the other girl. He promised to be around, as long as Ilvermorny didn't open before graduation. His words actually made Kinsey chuckle a little bit. She appreciated that he would be so honest with her, that he corrected himself to make sure he was telling her the truth. In all honesty, at this moment she just appreciated Joe. She was glad to have him as a friend and confidante, grateful that she could trust him with some of her secrets and that he cared enough to keep them for her. Joe looked at her carefully before he leaned forward and kissed her. Kinsey relaxed as he kissed her hard, feeling his concern and desire to help her as he kissed her. Joe's kiss was definitely different from Riley's, but that definitely wasn't a bad thing. She kissed him back, appreciating Joe in that moment. He was helping her more than she ever imagined, showing her that she was special and wanted. He knew what she was going through, but he wasn't shunning her or creeped out. He was supportive and there for her. Eventually, she pulled away and ended the kiss, leaning her head against his shoulder as she caught her breath, smiling a little. "Can I help you with your homework now?" She asked, leaning back and offering him a smile. She felt calm enough now to be able to leave, especially if Joe went with her. @joseph (you wanna end?)

Joe was glad that he had somehow helped Kinsey today. When he first saw her in the abandoned classroom, he wasn't sure that he would be able to help. Maybe all she needed was a distraction, or someone to talk to. Once she had pulled away from the kiss, he couldn't help but smile at the words that followed. Now she was going to help him. Joe nodded at her question, a smile slowly curling at the corners of his lips, "Yeah, because you and I both know that I need all of the help that I can get." he said with a chuckle, no shame behind his voice. Arithmancy was his most hated class. They started for the door of the classroom, heading in the direction of the library.
