when we fall asleep, where do we go? 23RD FEBRUARY 2025
FINALLY AGREEING TO LYDIA’S CONSTANT pleads to go with her to Hogsmeade during the specific weekend, Miles ensured they would be rather early to the Main Floor, knowing that while Lydia would only be walking a single staircase up, she would still somehow be late. Walking down five floors wasn’t exactly how Miles had planned to spend their morning, but regardless, they were here now. Stepping off the last step, Miles watched the shuffle of younger students, usual robes replaced with casual clothing, just like Miles had done. Hands stuffed into jean pockets, the Ravenclaw leaned against the pillars, watching students turn the corners as they waited for Lydia hoping she didn’t take as long as usual.
What Miles hadn’t been expecting as they idled around was familiar faces walking towards the line up. Fellow seventh years like themselves, and even sixth years. But one familiar face made Miles’ lips rise in slight disgust. Peyton Bainbridge. The half-blood was seemingly best friends with Lydia, something Miles hoped to break the closer they got to Lydia but knew even they couldn’t break the bond between the girls. Miles had a few conversations with the Hufflepuff, but they were usually in passing - casual greetings and fairwells. Now, the Pucey turned their head as Peyton walked closer, hoping to avoid her gaze. @peytonbainbridge & sorry its short D:

Peyton was going to Hogsmeade and had dressed warmly. She was excited to spend time in the little village, even if it didn't look the greatest. Maybe she could even help out with some of the destruction. She made her way down the steps with some other Hufflepuffs, heading for the lineup that had been created just outside the Great Hall.
As she walked in, she took notice of all the people and looked for Lydia. She had said that she was coming, but she hadn't seen her yet. And that was when she found her fiance, someone that wasn't looking at her and drew closer. "Miles...hi, have you seen Lydia? Is she still coming?" she asked a little awkwardly, was he purposely looking away?

when we fall asleep, where do we go? SEEING PEYTON DURING A MOMENT Miles didn’t want to see her was just…awfully fantastic. Waiting for Lydia had turned into a game, one that Miles didn’t look forward to particularly spend by Peyton’s side. So looking away to seem like they were invested in something else — potentially in the far distance — was most definitely what the Pucey was going for. Even if they were failing miserably. Raising their hand to scratch at the back of their head, Peyton finally approached them, questioning on Lydia’s whereabouts. As if they knew. ”I…Don’t know.” They said, keeping a stern look as they looked down at her. ”She wanted to go but I think she’s late.”

Peyton wasn't going to be walking around with Lydia, at least, not that she was aware of. Lydia was more draped across her fiance these days, and Peyton was left in the wind. She didn't care, though, the younger girl still spoke to her. But she had told her that she was heading to Hogsmeade, and Peyton wouldn't mind getting there with her dear friend - the friend that was nowhere to be seen.
'I...Don't know. She wanted to go but I think she's late.' Peyton - unaware of the look she was being given - laughed a little, "She's sometimes late for things. Hopefully, she isn't late for her own wedding," she said with a smile.

when we fall asleep, where do we go? MILES CLEARED THEIR THROAT, HAND raising to cough into their fist-closed hand. Peyton’s presence always made them uncomfortable, especially after discovering the Hufflepuff girl was dirty blooded, like most people wandering in the Wizarding School. At the blonde’s attempt of a joke, Miles moved their hand away, lips remained thin and had no interest in turning upwards, to humour the girl at all. Miles was sure they had at least voice their opinion about Peyton and her family with the girl standing nearby, how couldn’t she notice they had no care for her?
”I would kill her before allowing that to happen.” Miles stated, their own attempt at joking around failing because of the expression on their face. Though, their engagement to Lydia was still fairly new, no details had been throughly planned out yet, except Miles wanted to give their wedding reception some sort of edge and Lydia wanted to make it as fashionable as possible.

Peyton's joke couldn't have been that bad, and yet Miles seemed to portray that. They seemed to look at her as if she were a monster, someone that said something dirty or even wrong to their ears. She looked at them for a few seconds before they finally spoke. 'I would kill her before allowing that to happen.' Peyton's eyes widened at the words that left their lips; she couldn't tell if they were joking or not. A small, but awkward, chuckle left her lips, "I doubt that would happen...she'd likely show up hours before and ask where you are."

when we fall asleep, where do we go? KEEPING QUIET WAS PROBABLY A bad idea, considering how awkward Peyton could be and how…much Miles didn’t like the dirty half-blood. Blood purity would always be an important thing in Miles’ life and they still had no clue why Lydia befriended the Hufflepuff. Miles did crack a smile though at Peyton’s widened eyes and even her comment. It was true, when something was so important to Lydia she would do all in her power to control every aspect of it. Miles only hoped she would be the same for their wedding but allow planners to have some leeway as well.
”That’s true.” They murmured. ”She would probably make last minute commands in her own wedding dress.”

'That's true. She would probably make last minute commands in own her wedding dress.' Peyton smiled, laughing lightly and nodding her head in agreement. "I can see it now. She stops the wedding halfway through to point out a crooked centerpiece." It was true, Lydia was a bit of a perfectionist, Peyton had always seen it. She just hoped the girl would enjoy herself at her wedding, seeing as it should only happen once in one's lifetime. She hoped that she wasn't so young when she walked down the aisle, or whatever purebloods did at weddings.
