▲ The hard rubber of the man’s shoe coming into contact with the front of her ankle told Finn that somehow she had stuck her leg out in time to trip him up. The quick radiation of pain up to her knee and down to her toes meant that it had to be a hard fall, and she winced as she flipped around to try and lunge after him now that he was on the ground as well. She had forgotten for a moment that this was the floor of an abandoned factory, and the crunch of broken glass on her palms and wrists didn’t help out with the now throbbing ankle and hip from the tumble moments earlier. It didn’t take long for Finn to go back down though, a sharp kick from the man meant the side of her face was practically making out with the bottom of his shoe. This time she felt the rubber for all it was worth, and her head lolled sideways, her eyes blinking to darkness as she went back down again. The immediate throb and accompanying dizziness meant that she had no way to tell how much time had passed since the kick, so her slow coming to meant she was surprised to see the man just starting to stand up from where he had been when he had kicked back at her. He yelled something out, and Finn turned her head slowly to look back at Will, who still hadn’t seemed to take any action. Where was he and why wasn’t he trying to stop the guy? Slowly pushing herself to her feet as well, Finn pointed her wand (which was still in her hand somehow) at the man and lasered out a stunning spell at him, missing in her disoriented state and sending it into the wall opposite him with a sickening thud and cloud of gray concrete dust. Rachel didn't mean to take so long. Honestly, when she and Travis split up she thought she'd finish first and be waiting for him, but when she apparated close to the building where they were supposed to meet, she saw two people creeping around the abandoned building. Why in the world would they be creeping around here? The only thought that could come to her mind was that they had to have seen Travis. There was no other explanation. And if they were approaching Travis ... they might be able to take him by surprise. Rachel started rushing toward them, wanting to get inside and to Travis before something happened to him. However, the two disappeared through a broken window before she could reach them. And now that they were inside, she didn't want to follow them directly. What if this was a trap and they were waiting for her? Rachel crept around to a door and carefully went inside. She started sneaking around, looking for the pair. She knew right where Travis would be if he was here, but she didn't want to walk into a trap. She searched for a while, until she heard a woman's voice declaring she was MACUSA and demanding that someone not reach for his wand. Travis. Rachel started moving more quickly toward the voice. Now she knew where they were, and it was the last place she wanted them to be. Rachel arrived at the scene just in time to see Travis charging the woman. She saw the other man and instantly shot a silent stunning spell at him, smirking when it hit without a problem. Then Travis was falling into glass, not too far away from her. "Trav," she called, shooting a stunning spell at the woman as she tried to make her way to him. All she had to do was get close enough to touch him and they could leave together. They needed to get out. @travis finn kylie nottingham

February 2025Travis smirked with satisfaction when the bottom of his shoe made contact with her pretty face. That would keep her down for a moment, surely. Not... This woman was persistent. By the time he was on his feet again, Rachel appeared and stunned her useless partner. The blonde was on her way toward them as the Auror sent another stunning spell toward Travis, which hit the wall behind him with a loud blast, sending him to the ground once again. His surroundings were filled with concrete, scraps of sharp metal falling, and dust billowing all around him. He could barely see Rachel or the other woman amongst the chaos. His vision was taken over by intense tunnel vision, knowing all he needed was to get to Rachel in that moment, who was already making her way toward him.
Breathing was suddenly hard with the unforgivable dust filling his lungs, paired with aching ribs and hands stinging from shards of glass imbedded in his palms. Travis pushed himself up once more, pushing off pieces of concrete, fingers reaching for Rachel desperately. "GO-gogogo!" he yelled frantically, ready to apparate, but not wanting the Auror to latch onto one of them, or follow them to continue the tussle.

▲ Will was crumpled into a pile on the ground. That was all Finn could tell of his condition from where she was, and a woman, presumably the guy’s partner, was running in her direction as well, launching off what looked to be a stunning spell at her. Finn quickly diffused the attack at her and moved backwards so that she wasn’t pinned between the two and so that she could get a better view of Will. It had only been a brief second that she had caught sight of Will, but her follow-up to the deflected stun spell was to blast a wall of pressure in his direction to move him out of harm’s way – all the way to the opposite wall in the room. The cloud of dust and debris she had stirred up from everything would hopefully mask his removal from the fray. This was about to be two on one after all, which was far from how she had seen this going when they first entered the building, and having an incapacitated partner in the mix wouldn’t bode well for her own assault. Content with where she had sent her own partner, Finn turned her wand on the woman and launched an incarcerous spell at her, ropes conjuring out of thin air and sailing directly at her. From the haze behind Finn, the man appeared to calling for the woman to go, meaning that they were intending to escape rather than fight. Finn turned and fired an expulso in to the cloud, unsure of where her target actually was. If hit, he would be launched backwards, if not, she was sure a large chunk of the ground would be taken out from somewhere around him, hopefully slowing his escape. @rachel ● 292 ● Underneath A Sullen Moon by Shadow Of Intent MADE BY VEL OF GS + ADOX 2.0

This was not a situation that Rachel ever wanted to be in again. She didn't want to be fighting people just to escape, didn't want to watch the love of her life injured before her eyes. How in the world did they catch him by surprise? Travis was one of the most cautious people she knew. Still, Rachel pushed all her thoughts and confusion, focusing on one thing. She had to get to Travis. All she needed to do was stay away from the other woman and make contact with him. It shouldn't be too hard, since the other woman didn't seem to be close to her, though it was getting hard to see with so much dust in the air around them. Rachel rushed for Travis, hearing him tell her to go, but knowing that he wasn't ordering her to go without him. He wanted her to hurry. She kept her eyes trained on him as she ran, then saw something in her periphery. Not even bothering to turn and see what the woman was trying, Rachel put up a shield and dove, just in case it was something that could pass through her shield. She was feet away from Travis now, gasping herself on the dust-filled air. "Here," she choked, scrambling forward and reaching her hand toward him. They were almost out ... @travis finn kylie nottingham (sorry, Rach doesn't wanna stay and fight. She just wants to get out, haha)

Everything was happening so fast, Travis could barely think straight because he was so focused on not getting caught. How the hell did this Auror find them?! “Confringo!” He bellowed, shooting the spell behind him before taking Rachel’s hand, hard. Concrete and glass came cascading down from all around them, instantly making it hard to breathe and see. The world spiraled out of control. His feet were yanked off the floor and his body shot into the dark abyss, still latching onto Rachel’s hand. His vision was blurred until his back hit the ground of a grassy field with an uncontrollable force. Travis let out a grunt, his ribs were filled with an excruciating pain that he felt immediately. The adrenaline couldn’t mask this pain. Travis rolled over on his side, dusting off concrete before he pushed himself up with the palm of his hands to see if they were followed. Panic sent his body into overdrive, he couldn’t believe how fast everything happened but it felt like a lifetime. finn kylie nottingham@rachel

▲ The cloud of dust now swirling thicker around her from the various spells Finn had sent off, trying to spot the two people was virtually impossible. If her directions were correct still, which was also hard to determine, they were trying to make a pass by her. The charmed ropes that she had sent after the woman had disappeared into the haze, albeit briefly, as they were seemingly deflected by another spell. The woman clearly had a better idea of the situation than her partner did at first, though he was catching up quick to where she was. Having to divert spells back and forth between the two was making it difficult to keep up with what was going on, as well as watching Will from a distance. The silver lining thus far was that they didn’t want to fight and she was the one forcing them into it. If she had learned anything from auror training, backing a scared animal into a corner was bad enough – doing it to two of them was even worse. She still had the option to let them go, but the nagging feeling that she needed to stop them here and now kept her going longer than she probably should have. From her side, she heard the man yell out a blasting curse, and Finn immediately threw up a defensive shield, expecting to feel it impact in a matter of seconds. Even with a block up, something at the level of Confringo was still going to knock her backwards. Except there never was any contact with her, and the cracking and snapping of something from above her alerted her to where the man had actually sent his spell. The ceiling was falling in on itself! The glass ceiling had shattered into thousands of pieces, accompanied by blocks of concrete that had to already have been weakened in the building’s poor condition. The first few pieces that landed around her weren’t a threat to her safety, but the building started to grown as the supports started to creak above her as well. A pop from off in the distance told her that the man and woman had disapparated, leaving her behind in the middle of a collapsing building. Tossing a shield above her head to try and deflect the smaller debris, Finn aimed in the direction of Will again, this time blasting a hole in the wall and trying her best to push him outside as she ran towards it. The addition of a shattered wall didn’t help her situation at all, and as she neared her exit, everything came down at once, a sharp shooting through her leg as she tripped over a piece of concrete that fell in front of her. And then came the darkness, as she did her best to try and soften the building as it fell down on top of her. [Finn End] @rachel ● 482 ● Tentpole Shangrila by Djo MADE BY VEL OF GS + ADOX 2.0

They made it. Rachel barely felt the relief when Travis took her hand. She instantly apparated, taking them to a grassy field in the middle of no-where. She didn't want anyone to notice them right now, she just needed to make sure that he was okay. "Trav," she gasped, scrambling closer as she started to check his hands and arms for any sign of a broken bone or a major injury. He was already looking around, obviously checking for someone nearby, so she let him take care of that. "Are you okay? Are you hurt?" she asked, turning her attention to his face. He'd tell her, and she needed to know. Things would be okay. They would. "Look at me," she whispered after a moment. @travis (continue with these two for a moment while they check to make sure they're okay?)

January 2025Travis slowly opened his eyes to Rachels voice, immediately finding restriction in the chest and lungs. "I'm okay.." he lied, not wanting to worry her. After a moment it all really set in though. He could feel broken glass in his arms, back of the neck, everywhere it shouldn't be. Travis tried to breathe in but was instantly found with excruciating pain. "I think my ribs are broken." he sputtered, unable to hide the wince from his face. Travis grabbed Rachels hand, too weak to apparate them himself. "Take me home, please." he begged, already knowing they couldn't go to any hospitals. They had a reputation in both the Muggle and Magical world. There was a spell and potion they could work on back home, he would just be enduring a lot of pain for the next few days.

The more she looked at him, the more Rachel realized how not-okay Travis was, despite what he told her. Still, she knew how to stay cool during situations. He'd trained her that way. She looked over him, taking in the glass that seemed to be everywhere. Other than that, he didn't look too bad, until he told her that his ribs were broken. She nodded, taking a deep breath before he grabbed her hand, asking her to take him home. "Of course," she whispered. "I'm going to take care of you, like always." Her free hand touched his hair for a second and then they were home, apparated straight inside. She apparated right where she wanted to, on the bed. Rachel stood up, "I'll be right back." She hurried to the kitchen, where she started a potion that she knew would help, then she returned back to Travis. "Okay, let's get this glass out of you," she said in a soft voice. Using her wand, Rachel started pulling out scraps of glass, trying to heal him as best she could. She hated seeing him like this. "I have the potion on already," she told him. "Can you talk?"

January 2025Travis' world was flipped upside down. His vision was blurring in and out which was a good indicator he was going to pass out any moment. Rachel carefully removed the glass from his skin, every so often he flinched but he was met with relief as soon as it was extracted. He was trying to stay awake as Rachel prepared a potion for him at a godspeed pace. Kicking his shoes off he laid on his back, trying to focus on breathing without excruciating pain. Travis was fading out, as she returned to the room he slurped down the potion she gave him, not asking what it was, he trusted that she knew what to do. He looked up at her from where his head buried into the pillow, "Thank you, I love you." he told her, eyes drooping. Then his world was turned into darkness.

Rachel hated this. It had been ages (years in fact) since they'd come this close to being caught and she'd had to help Travis with injuries. Luckily, she was still pretty good at it. She wasn't about to lose him because she couldn't get things ready quick enough. He didn't really talk, which made sense. At least he was breathing, watching her on and off. He wasn't going anywhere. She smiled, relieved when he took the potion when she brought it to him. He should be fine now, once he rested a bit and she finished the healing. "I love you," she whispered, leaning down to kiss him even though she knew he was unconscious. Then she continued with removing the glass. When that was done, she checked him for further injuries, wanting to make sure that he was okay. --- the end --- @travis
