The moment the Fleming parents discovered their second child was a Metamorphmagi, it brought confusion. No one in the history line of both sides of the family had been one and it was if by Merlin’s choice, Calliope Fleming was the first. From the first few hours of her birth, it was easy to tell the difference in the middle child, the cries she screamed changing the fair strands of baby hair to a deep blue. Even as the Fleming grew, her emotions were easily portrayed through such colours, red expressing anger, yellow excitement or happiness and different shades of blue to indicate sadness or a mellow vibe. Each colour of the rainbow was easily portrayed just from how Calliope was feeling that day.

Being the first Fleming with such an ability, Calliope felt like a slight outcast amongst her siblings, especially after her brothers were born. Each member in the Fleming household was normal, with pale like eyes and brunette hair while Calliope’s eyes and hair sported a different colour daily, it was from her lack of control that made her nervous, she wanted to seemingly be normal too. But after enrolling into Ilvermorny, things became a little easier. There were others like her, expressing their emotion through the colours of their hair and eyes and even to keep her family and friends entertained, the Fleming began to experiment with different features on her face, taking on the look of animals and mocking their styles. Merlin how the Professors hated her for being such a class clown.

After her mother’s disappearance just before the start of her fifth year, Calliope sported the deepest shades of blue and somewhat continued the look right until her sixth year. It wasn’t her fault, she had tried to focus on other emotions, but her sadness got the bette of her. There were the different spouts of yellow and pink whenever her friends attempted to cheer up or surprise the Fleming, but sadness was all she felt, even when distracting herself. By graduation, Calliope had a larger understanding to her ability as a Metamorphmagi, and eventually when she took up the apprenticeship for Magizoology, bright colours took over her appearance. Animals and magical creatures as a whole kept the Fleming happy even as things worsened in her home.

After her father’s threats and ultimately the Fleming’s career change, Calliope had a strong control over her ability. She began her job at St Mungos as the newly record keeper with brunette hair and red tips to express her anger for her job. She hated it there. Her facial features remained the same while at her more…Illegal job, Calliope looked completely different. There, she sported violet hair and made various changes to her appearance. She loved working as a Merchant but she didn’t need people to know her true appearance. After all, she had the ability to twist and shift her appearance with the colours of the rainbow
