The young Auror was pacing, his hair slightly amiss, his clothes ruffled and not straight. He kept running his hand through his hair, biting his lip every so often. He was currently in the entrance of the Ministry. He had a look of both worry and frustration on his face. Was he having a stroke? No, but it felt like it. The case he was working on was driving him crazy. This particular case was not that of the one he had been working on for almost 1 and a half years, that being the Purifier case. No, that just made him stressed. He needed a break from trying to figure what their motives exactly were, or where they could exactly be. No. This case that he was working on was much simpler. But it seemed to be harder than he thought. Okay, leads? None. Well, he had a few, but those weren't really as great as he first believed. Witnesses? None. It was as if it never happened. But it most certainly did happen. Cameron tried to tell himself that everything would work itself out. But he couldn't bring himself to believe that. He sighed, his head down in deep thought, still pacing. When suddenly, he bumped into a girl when he wasn't paying attention. words. 215 notes. finn kylie nottingham

▲ The two weeks Finn had spent in the hospital following her incident in February had completely drained her of all enthusiasm for going back to work. MACUSA had left her alone the first week, but when she had come back to her senses during the second week they hadn’t let her hear the end of it. Unsanctioned arrest attempts, destroying a no-maj building, and pulling in non-magical law enforcement; the latter being the worst of her ‘crimes’, if they could be called that. Finn had been under the impression that she had carte blanche to do what she needed to do when it came to reeling in the escaped Azkaban convicts, but apparently that wasn’t so. As MACUSA and the Ministry had made apparent in the last few weeks, she was a loose cannon that needed more oversight when it came to performing her duties. This wasn’t the United States anymore, apparently, and her higher-ups were perfectly fine with using her as an example. To make it worse, she felt guilty for dragging Will into the whole thing. While she had tried to make the case that they had no idea there would be someone inside the building and that he was a capable wizard, they were hearing none of it. Apparently his dual status as no-maj royalty meant he was more important to them than he even knew. Finn had let this weigh down on her more than she should have let it, and had decided during her last few days in the hospital that she needed to take a break from everything associated with Will. It was unbelievably irresponsible and unprofessional for her to pull him into it, and it had almost killed both of them. It would be for the best this way and he would finally be able to focus on the things that he needed to do for himself and his family. Trying to drown out her personal and professional problems was going to be difficult, but committing to solely desk work for the foreseeable future was infinitely going to be worse. Suspension from field work for an undetermined amount of time. That was what the letter from New York had told her. Finn had never disliked doing paperwork, but when she was doing other auror’s paperwork it was like being taken back to her rookie years on the force. She was seven years into this job and they were treating her like an amateur! Caught in her own thoughts, she had barely registered that she had entered the Ministry from the main entrance, something that she rarely did. The hustle and bustle of the normal government workers had never appealed to her, and there were simply too many people here for her liking. It had been bad enough having to navigate the facility when she first moved to London, making sure to register her wand, apartment, and let the MACUSA field office know she was around if they needed her at the time. Thinking back on it, she never should have offered her assistance on this case. Sure, it paid better than what she had been making back home in New York, but the situation she had put herself in had completely nuked her entire life in less than three months. Aimlessly pushing her way through the crowd on her way to the auror department, she ran head-on into another person, her arms immediately reaching out to grab onto the person to steady herself. She balance still wasn’t one-hundred percent back to how it had been prior to her accident. Collapsing a building on top of her sort of did that to a person. “Sorry,” she mumbled as she felt her balance return back to normal. “Wasn’t paying attention at all.”@cameronunderwood ● 627 ● The Mad Tyrant's Betrayal by Shadow Of Intent MADE BY VEL OF GS + ADOX 2.0

At first, Cameron was almost annoyed. The stress from the case he was working on was clearly straining on him. When he saw that she apologized, however, his additude changed from mild annoyance to neutral in almost a split second. "Uh, oh, it's alright!" he'd try to say with a friendly demeanor. "Nothing to worry about. No one broke any bones or anything," Cameron mused thoughtfully. While there was some silence, Cameron sized her up like many of the other wizards or witches he would meet. He wanted to see who exactly this person was and if he recognized them. If he didn't, he'd learn their name. "The name's Cameron Underwood," Cameron said to the girl, not yet knowing her name. He assumed she was a witch, but it also could have been Muggles. And she seemed to have walked through the entrance where Muggles would usually pass. "What's your name?" he asked. "Do you work here?" he hoped he wasn't being to pressuring because, if he was, he'd immediately pull back on the questions and let her breath. Besides, he was the friendly sort, and maybe he needed to take his mind of the stress of work. words. around 200 words notes. finn kylie nottingham

▲ The best outcome of her newfound clumsiness was that she had managed to grab onto someone that wasn’t going to completely crumple under her when she held on – it could have been a lot worse than it was. Unfortunately that didn’t alleviate any of her concerns that she had done something unspeakable to the man she was now steadying herself on. Aimlessly wandering around the Ministry with her head in the clouds was a great way to bump into someone important and cause a scene. This guy looked young, so that probably meant he was at most an aide to someone that could fire her. She was still surprised MACUSA hadn’t done so already. That would have been better than having someone following behind her second guessing her every move to see if she was sound of mind still. If they knew she had blown open a wall in another warehouse a few months earlier, prior to her reinstatement, she would have been cut off for sure. The man said that it was fine, because nobody had broken any bones. Finn let out an awkward laugh, immediately shuddering. She could still feel the residual pain of being crushed by industrial grade concrete and having almost every bone in her body smashed. How had she survived that again? “Finn Nottingham. And yeah, I still do, somehow…” she trailed off near the end of her sentence, the blankness in her head showing up again like it had been prone to do the last two weeks. They said it was a concussion and it would take some time for everything to go back to normal, but it didn’t feel like it would. “I’m with MACUSA. I was brought in to help clean up the mess from a few months ago.” And somehow managed to make an even bigger one in the process. At least the task force sort of had an idea of who she had encountered in the warehouse, though the rate at which the convicts had disapparated told her that it would be a while before those two appeared again.
