Nia didn’t come upon her affliction in any exciting way, at least not as far as she was involved. She was born a half-vampire. Her mother, shortly before her birth, was attacked and the change was forced onto her. Whether her parents had meant to have more children knowing that her mother would pass down the gene, Nia didn’t know and she never asked. But two out of their three kids were born with the affiliation and because of all of them, the whole family suffered.
Being born into a Second Salemer family, having to be a part of the magical world, even in this little way, was tough. The family would have to travel into the magical parts of town to procure blood from the vampire blood bank, while having to law low and not draw attention to themselves. She could imagine the way it seemed to those who knew about them. She knew that it was expected that she’d betray tradition and want a place in the magical world, however, after hearing about the attack on her mother and seeing now the damage that it caused her family, it only made her despise it more.
Nia didn’t drink blood often, only when she absolutely needed to. She practiced will power as much as possible and tried to push it off and push it off as long as she could. But when she ended up breaking down and needed a fix, she had blood bags. She had never drunk from a living thing and never planned to. She wasn’t a monster. She fought that stigma hard.
Overall, her affiliation doesn’t affect her life more than she lets it; most of the time. She used what she could to her advantage, since it was there anyway, and ignored the negative effects until she couldn’t anymore. Nia was popular when she was in school, and she knew her vampirism was partly to blame for that. She had great skin, she was pretty, and she knew her voice had an alluring quality that she inherited from her mother’s condition.
