Little Lotten Krok was raised on a flying pirate ship!!! What child wouldn't play pirate with her siblings. She was never in charge, but if given the choice she would always be a pirate. It didn't take long for the pirates to invade her dreams. Her parents figured it was just her brain working with her imagination and learning about the ship.
One night, the girl lay in bed, her mind transported to a familiar place. It was her grandfathers, and now her fathers, ship. She was well aware of the vessel, but she didn't recognize any of the crew. She moved towards the one that she did recognize, but seemed to stumble around. The ground beneath her feet seemed to sway unnaturally. She practically fell on the side railing, only to see the big blue ocean as far as the eye could see. That wasn't right. Their ship flew. A shadow passed over her, turning around, the scene changed and a large ship stood parallel, with dirty, smelly, bloody men fighting one with each other.
The battle raged on the ship, and the young girl saw things that her little brain couldn't have imagined, and she couldn't make a sound. Her voice was gone, but all that changed, when the man she recognized, he looked like her grandfather, fell down right in front of her, seriously injured. The scream she let out traveled through their home and didn't seem to stop. She woke, still seeing the men at war.
Olav, Lotten's father, burst in the door, wand at the ready. Unsure of what could make his middle child scream so much. He rushed to her bed as her mother hurried in. The two helped to console the small child as she talked over the details of this terrifying dream, the visions now dissipating.
It was only the next day, when Olav told his father about the girls night terror, that James Hook stopped in his tracks. Wide eyed he recounted the story of the scar, details matching exactly to the dream of the girl. Lotten was a special girl.
