James gave the brunette a skeptical look. "You enjoy Kovachev?" He asked her, not exactly being able to believe it himself. The man was basically what Snape had been to his father his entire education career. Granted Kovachev was nicer to more students, James just wasn't one of them. "You must really like potions then," he said, not being able to hold back a little smile as he watched her.
When Aurora agreed to help him, James lit up like a Christmas tree. He didn't catch himself doing so either, so he made no effort to hide it. "That sounds great!" He agreed excitedly. "The Room of Requirement sounds perfect," James was nodding with excitement. James really couldn't stop himself from softening his facial expressions as he smiled at her now. "Sounds like a date, Rory," he said softly. Was James Potter really about to go on a study date with Aurora Lestrange?

Aurora blushed a bit. “I get along with Professors better than I do students.” The girl shrugged her shoulders not putting her eye back on James. She was a bit self-conscious with James questioning her interests. She didn’t like the fact that she was and hated it even more that she wasn’t trying to cover it up. Aurora looked at James after a bit and nodded. “It’s fascinating.” Her eyes lit up a bit. “And pair it with herbolody!” the girl grinned a bit and shook her head. “There is so much to learn and create in those fields.” Aurora looked own again and controlled her blushing. She was not a people person. Sure she could talk to anyone for a moment but to hold up a conversation like this, Aurora was a bit unprepared.
The reaction from James threw Aurora quite aback. No hesitation, an abundance of joy. No trying to play it cool. Aurora melted a bit. Until he threw that word at her. And she was the one who started it. He didn’t ask her. She offered and did the rest. How the hell was that bloody possible. To offer something and not realize what was happening. Aurora wasn’t upset. She was just taken aback by how it happened. And James speaking. Aurora felt like she couldn’t deny him the idea when really she should explain it’s just her tutoring him. Instead she smiled a bit. “A first for everything, right James?” Aurora managed not to spit out his surname this time. There were many ways she could play out her response and that was the way she went. “Have you ever been on date that involved lots of books,” Aurora paused, “And actually ended up using said books?” she raised an eyebrow questioningly.

James looked at the Ravenclaw, and he could have sworn he saw her blush a little. He thought nothing bad of it. In fact, he thought it was kind of cute. And for James Potter to sit there and think about how cute a blushing girl was, was enitrely out of the ordinary. "Herbology, huh? Well, that professor I like," he said, crossing his arms across his chest. "Wait 'til you meet Kovachev, Rory," he said, shaking his head. James found that he really enjoyed saying both her name and her nickname.
The eldest Potter grinned at her. The more he thought of it, this would be the first time he had ever gone out on a date with a girl he was actually more than interested in. Aurora captivated him more than other girls. There really was a first for everything. James raised an eyebrow, thinking for a moment then. He chuckled. "Ya know, I don't think I have," he smirked at her. While perhaps it wasn't exactly what she wanted to hear, James had the urge to tell this girl the truth. To not lie to her, like he sometimes would other girls. He figured that was another big first for him.

Longbottom was a great professor. It wasn’t just the subject that she enjoyed but Longbottom didn’t treat her any differently. He was tough sometimes but he was like that with all his students. He didn’t shove her aside or take revenge upon her. He just opened her eyes to a great subject and helped her tolerance of people. “Professor Longbottom is definitely one of my favorites.” Too bad Aurora still didn’t feel comfortable making eye contact with the man. She just felt so guilty about what her family did. She couldn’t make it up to him. “I’m sure I’ll have no problem with the Professor, James. You on the other hand, are going to apparently have one hell of a year.” Aurora teased before she could stop herself. The girl couldn’t help herself in watching James, especially when he thought about her question. He seemed to be making an effort with her. It confused her immensely. Aurora rolled her blue eyes at him before walking past him. “Well then, I’ll be your first.” She said before stopping and turning around. “And try to be on time.” Aurora sized him up one more time before she left him in the isle of potion books.

James smirked at the Ravenclaw. And as she spoke, he could have sworn he noticed her sizing him up. It was hard for him not to notice her blue eyes wherever they looked. He went to successfully punch in the air when Aurora began to walk away, but when she turned around, James quickly smiled innocently and placed his hands behind his back. "I wouldn't dream of stepping in a second late, Miss Lestrange," he grinned at the dark haired beauty. It felt a little exhilerating calling her by her last name. Lestrange. It was most certainly frowned upon by both of their families, no doubt, for them to even speak to one another. But as Aurora walked away, James found himself watching her leave.
It was totally out of his character and it was definitely weird, even to him... But there was no question that James Potter was slowly falling for Aurora Lestrange.
(notes: what a good place to stop!)
