Mavis had grown up in France. French was her native language, though she had been learning English from a very young age. To say that she was nervous to leave the country to go to the school that her father had gone to scared her, was an understatement. She had said farewell to her parents and traveled to London with a body guard. They helped her get all her school supplies, and when the day came, took her to Kings Cross Station. With help, she got onto the platform and got on the Hogwarts Express. She had caught many eyes but all she wanted to do was be invisible. She was so nervous, that she couldn't process words.
After getting to the school and being sorted, she finally started to settle in. That was when the strangest thing started to happen. She started to see colors emanating from the people around her. The loud, confident, and crazy ones were brighter. She was afraid that she had hit her head or something, but was too afraid to bring it up. If something really was wrong with her, she didn't know what her father would do. So, she ignored it. She had seen the colors before, but not for too long, and usually followed by headaches. But one day, she was spending the afternoon with friends, laughing and having such a good time, she saw them in a whole new light. She was transfixed. She could read the colors, she could see scars and just knew things by looking at the colors surrounding them.
Without realizing it, Mavis had fallen to the floor. That was the first of many seizures where she was rushed to the hospital wing. The nurse had no idea what to do, or how to help, but it wasn't for a lack of trying.
