appearance:
Grace stands at 5'6". Her hair is long and blonde, tumbling half-way down her back. It's rare that she wears it loose simply due to the fact that it tangles easily, instead opting to tie it into some variation of braids. Sometimes when she's feeling fancy, she'll use a home-sewn floral scrunchie to tie the ends instead of a plain elastic.
Coming from a less than financially stable home, Grace's clothing is rather lackluster compared to her peers. The clothing she wears is often sourced from charity shops or handmade by her bestemor (grandmother). Luckily Grace is handy with a needle and thread because she's had the same school uniform for years - although her uniform looks well-worn at this point, she's luckily able to make adjustments to accomodate the way her body's changed since she was eleven.

Grace has an immense fear of having a panic attack in front of a crowd with all eyes on her. This happened during her Sorting Ceremony and she never wants it to occur again.overall personality:
Flying. Let's just say that her first year flying class was a disaster. Grace fell off her broom and broke her arm.
Grace is a sweet, sensitive girl who is honestly just trying her best to get by in two separate worlds, neither of which she feels like she truly belongs to. In the muggle world, she feels out of place because she possesses the gift of magic that she always has to hide; and in the wizarding world, she feels unwanted (despite her friends saying otherwise) because she's a muggleborn whose ability to perform magic is... lackluster at best.
As a result of feeling like she doesn't fit in, Grace is almost always uncomfortable and jittering with nerves, her fingers unconsciously curling into her palms or fiddling with her necklace. In the back of her mind, she's always worrying that something bad is going to happen, like somebody calling her out for being a freak that doesn't belong, for looking poor, etc. It's happened a lot of times in the past and so she's always on high alert that it will happen again. It's sad to say at the age of sixteen but Grace truly can't remember the last time she felt relaxed - it's a foreign concept to her.
When people manage to get past Grace's awkwardness and actually have a conversation with her, they'll find that she's a kind, empathetic person who is always willing to lend a listening ear to those who need it. Even when she's not asked to, she always tries her hardest to solve other people's problems and when she succeeds, she quietly feels a small sense of pride. It feels good helping others out and finding them solutions - quite possibly because she often feels helpless and unable to fix her own turbulent home life.
Grace is viewed as a 'good girl' by her peers and in a lot of ways, she is. She rarely swears, she doesn't partake in drug-taking or drinking. Some small part of her wants to engage in all these sorts of activities... but deep down, she's fearful that even dipping her toes in those waters will wind up with her falling down the same path as her parents did.
personal history

Arthur Sorensen - brother, 18, lives with him.
Nils Sorensen - father, 35, estranged. Currently serving a prison sentence for possession of drugs, last she heard.
Claire Jones - mother, 33, estranged. Whereabouts unknown.
N/Ahistory:
From the moment she entered the world, Grace's life was never destined to be easy, especially when you took a glance at her parents, Claire and Nils, who never intended to fall pregnant with her (or her three year old brother) in the first place.site events reaction:
Without going into too much explicit detail, Grace's parents were both addicts, fully submerged in party culture even when she'd been in the womb. Her older brother, Arthur, was removed from them when he was not even a year old and placed into the care of Cecilie (paternal grandmother), and when Grace was born, shaking and evidently suffering from withdrawal, she was placed into her care as well. Despite struggling financially and living in a smaller-than-desired apartment, Cecilie was happy to have her grandchildren stay with her rather than go into the system.
At the age of ten, Grace's very first sign of magic came along with the news that her father had been sentenced to two years in prison for possession. Whilst she was only a tiny bit upset at the news itself, she was livid at the way he'd caused her grandmother to feel. Moments after reading the letter, Cecilie had become distraught, sobbing that she was a failure as a mother. Grace staunchly disagreed with that because her grandmother, in the eyes of her and Arthur, was a hero. Without her, she and Anders would be god knows where in the foster system. It was not her fault that their father had tumbled so far down a dark path that he was unable to be rescued by anyone. As Grace protested and consoled her grandmother, she glared at the letter (the bearer of bad news) from the corner of her eye and POOF! The paper burst into flames on the coffee table, only staying on fire long enough to crumble into ashes and leaving zero scorch marks on the table in it's wake.
The whole incident was bizarre but Grace didn't think too much of it until a month before her eleventh birthday, an out-of-the-ordinary man wearing robes knocked on the door of their apartment. When he explained he was a professor from Hogwarts, a wizarding school, and that she was a witch with an invitation to attend, Grace had nearly keeled over. Her grandmother had invited him in fo tea and quizzed him on absolutely everything she could think of, claiming she was not sending her grandaughter to live at a foreign school away from her until she had all the information she needed to know. When she'd finally exhausted herself of questions, she'd eyed Grace speculatively and asked what she wanted to do. Hesitantly, Grace said that she wanted to see what it was like, and after making the professor promise to keep an eye on her, her grandmother agreed.
Grace's first day at Hogwarts was rough. She spent the entire trip to the school itself shoved in the corner of a carriage, her nose buried in a book while her body thrummed of anxiety of what was to come. Even though she had books about Hogwarts, they were very old and purchased from a second-hand bookshop on Diagon Alley - who was to say the information wasn't decades outdated? Grace's worries built and built, eventually culminating at the Sorting Hat ceremony where she wound up having a panic attack with the hat on her head. She'll never forget the feeling of everyone's eyes on her, the way she knew she didn't belong there and she's done her best to block out the memory since, but to no avail. She was fortunate, however, to be sorted into HUFFLEPUFF! where a lot of her peers seemed to be more understanding than judgemental.
Even though it took a few weeks to settle into Hogwarts, Grace has mostly adjusted well to school-life. She's never quite gotten comfortable with performing magic in front of her peers, but she does well in theory-based classes and Grace has quite happily made a few friends in her time... and very secretly, Grace became more than friends with a boy in her year over the summer holidays. Unfortunately, however, it didn't last due to several reasons that remain to be revealed.
Student Found Dead (2nd September 2022) - In Grace's second year of Hogwarts, upon hearing the news that a muggleborn girl only a year younger than her had been killed on the Hogwarts Express, she was wrecked with sadness. She hadn't known the girl but thinking about the way her family felt receiving the news of their loved one having lost their life by simply going to school... it was upsetting, to say the least.
Second Muggleborn Student Found Dead (10th October 2022) - Whilst she'd felt fear over the news of the first attack, it wasn't comparable to when Grace heard of the second. The idea that somebody was actively murdering people of her kind in a place that was meant to be safe was chilling and honestly, Grace was petrified. Was she going to be next? Everywhere she went from there on, she carried her wand with her and glanced over her shoulder just in case.
Attack on Hogwarts (2nd April 2023) - The events of the last few months had left Grace spooked and unsettled... the fact that the old Headmaster resigned and was replaced by Headmaster Longbottom was unnerving, to say the least, but the word around the street was that things were going to be safer. However, that turned out to be a lie. When Grace heard about the kidnapping of 15 students and the news of what Elaine Dupree had done, she ran to the bathroom and threw up the contents of her stomach. Someone among them, another student, had taken a life. Another muggleborn had been killed.
Devastation for Foreign Students (19th May 2024) - The news of what happened to those poor Durmstrang and Beauxbatons students shook Grace to the core because... things only seemed to be getting worse and more violent. The attacks on muggleborns had seemingly spread to full-out murder of a ship and carriage of foreign students. Not for the first time, and certainly not for the last, Grace worried about the future of her own life.
Azkaban Falls (29th December 2024) - When Grace received the news of the destruction of Azkaban, she couldn't help but wonder if something like that would ever happen to the prison where her dad was housed at and immediately, her stomach curdled. The prisoners there were rumoured to be bad, of course, but those in Azkaban... their crimes were said to be horrendous. Grace vowed not to attend Hogsmeade, at least not until it was safe, and to this day, she hasn't been back to the village out of fear of the worst happening.
