The following note is encased in an envelope with lacy gold-ink embellishments framing its perimeter, addressed to one "Noell Northnet" in London. The letter itself is written with exquisite, calligraphy-like penmanship, in high quality, flowing ink, the caliber of which needed to accomplish such a fancy penning seeming only proper of a gentleman with extensive training in the art of writing. Within the envelope is a small, flat, rectangular mirror with a thin silver border, seemingly carefully trimmed so as to fit perfectly within the dimensions of the envelope.
To my dearest love, my mistress Noell, It has been far too long since last we have spoken. I cannot believe it has only been three months since I have had to see you go away to sea, for it feels like an eternity to lie at our without you by my side. My heart yearns to see your golden-brown eyes, your luscious scarlet locks, and your beautiful smile once more. It is without contempt that I wish your accursed role in the corps done away with forever, so that we may be together, for the reasons that I love you far outweigh the wretched task you have been drafted into. I can only remind you your value while you are away, as nothing may fill this void in my ashen heart but your gentle soul beside it. Attached, I have included for you a mirror, one that last belonged to my grandmother, that I gift to you so that you may always be reminded of that beauty which haunts my thoughts, and graces them, in my dreams. Speak into it my name and let me hear you; perhaps then, we may see each other once more. If anything were to happen to you, let it be known that I simply could not continue my dreary, miserably life. I only hope that we may reunite soon. I do not expect you to write back, but it would please me dearly if you did.
With love and longing, yours, Balcas Tanbark (( @crystal2 ))
