overall personality:
Felix has, on more than one occasion, been called stuffy and uptight. He disagrees, knowing that the appreciating the finer things of life does not warrant a personality rebranding. Calm and collected in opposition to his younger sister Ophelia, Felix spent much of his youth striving for excellence to make his father proud. Prim and cold, Felix was never one to focus on making friendships and made it through schooling with few acquaintances. He cared only for making the grades to join the Ministry of Magic, careful to apply just the right amount of flattery to the right professors, and of course for his sister. Beyond that, relationships were of no matter to Felix.
Instead of the small matter of interpersonal relationships, Felix spent much of his schooling developing a passion for the universe. During school holidays, he would read muggle science magazines, exploring the creation of the universe and the interactivity between celestial objects. With his head in space, how could Felix devote time to anyone other than his family? His determination to understand the inner workings of the universe led him to pursue a career in the ministry trying to discover just that.
Felix was stoic and coolly unfriendly right up to the death of his mother. She had been the light of their life, passing on her bubbly attitude to the younger Teller. Though Felix had always tried to be the centre of his father's attention, he found himself absolutely devastated when his mother passed. He had been so taken by his obsession with the universe that he hardly had made time for a deeper relationship with his mother. Felix made a deal with himself to focus more on people rather than just his work, and while he is still aloof, disengaged and uptight, he has found that he can be warm and people can in fact be interesting. If only they had the patience to wear him down.

history:
Caius Teller had it all going for him - he had friends, power and money, and was Head Boy of Hogwarts during the 1970-71 school year. He had an job as an Unspeakable in the Department of Mysteries through his cousins' friend Augustus Rookwood. He had heard of Lord Voldemorts' gaining power, and with Rookwood as his mentor, it would have been very easy for Caius to join the Death Eaters, if it had not been for Lydia. Lydia was a Muggle, beautiful and free-spirited, she entranced Caius from their first chance meeting while he was on a job about two years into his career. She worked in a second-hand bookstore and always wore a flower in her long dark hair. Caius realized two things: that he was madly in love with this woman, and that she would never be accepted into his circle. So their relationship was kept secret; Caius opened up a second vault at Gringotts and would store his earnings there, knowing that his parents would cut him off the moment they found out about Lydia. It was immensely stressful for Caius, leading this double life, but every time he was with Lydia, everything seemed worth it. He told her how he was a wizard and the world he was part of early on in their relationship, but to his surprise, she took it in stride, saying she always thought there was 'something magical' about him. He was able to shake Rookwood off by telling him his parents would prefer for him to stay on his chosen career path, avoiding joining the Death Eaters. This paid off in 1981 when Voldemort was defeated. Caius was never suspected of any wrongdoings (as he had should not have been), and with Rookwood soon behind bars, he was finally able to do what he wanted to do for nearly a decade - marry the woman of his dreams. As expected, his family had cut him off financially, but he had built up a small fortune of his own through saving and living simply with Lydia, and they were still able to live comfortably.
Lydia and Caius had wanted children since the early days of their relationship, but with the Wizarding World in turmoil and Caius not being able to tell his parents about her, they decided to wait until they could marry to have children. Felix Teller came into the world in 1993. They had wanted to give him a sibling; most of Lydia's family was dead or living in far off places, and Caius' family didn't speak to them, but Lydia struggled to conceive again. They had given up hope of ever having a second child, when at age 42 she discovered she was pregnant a second time! She gave birth to Ophelia Mae Teller on a rainy day in April at home, much to the delight of her older brother and father. As a youth, Felix had been rather withdrawn, preferring to play on his own and spent hours lying in the garden, his mind trying to wrap around the wonders in the sky. But when Fee came around, Felix finally paid attention to something more than his telescope. Still, he would steal away with Fee into the back garden to show her the night sky and describe the various stars to her. In the nights, he would sneak out of his bedroom window and clamber up the beech tree to get closer to the cosmos. His first sign of magic came one night when he fell from the fragile boughs but recovered without a scratch at the age of seven. After that, Felix was more careful to stick to his telescope and the garden floor.
Felix's childhood was uneventful, but not unhappy. He grew close with Fee despite the age difference, and she warmed him in a way no other person could. Well, besides perhaps their mother when Felix wasn't in a temper about having his telescope taken away as a result of not finishing his dinner. They were often at odds, though Felix would never admit how much he respected his mother's ability to bring joy to their father, a man Felix was devoted to beyond all else. Felix thought that he could impress his father with information about the stars, though Caius often reminded the youth that life was happening here on Earth and not to let it pass him by. Disgruntled, Felix swore to focus more on schoolwork so that he could eventually roam the stars with his father's approval.
With determination and aloofness, Felix was sorted into Slytherin when he started at Hogwarts. While he was rather uncomfortable living in the dungeons, away from the open sky, Slytherin suited him. His fellow students didn't pester him into friendships, and he was able to spend his free time atop the astronomy tower. Some of his dorm mates managed to break through his focus to a begrudging friendship, even though Felix often had little to say. He instead listened and provided insight to problems. After graduation with excellent marks, Felix was taken on as a Ministry intern. He expressed his interest in the cosmos, and after stoking his superiors with honeyed words and excellent work, he was placed into the Department of Mysteries in the Space Room. Content that he had achieved his wish, his father simply offered his compliments. He hadn't been happy since their mother fell ill. Shortly after Felix joined the ministry full time, Lydia fell ill with cancer and after a short battle succumbed to the disease. Felix was devastated but remained stoic and strong for his broken sister. His mother's death was a wake up call for Felix, a reminder that life was still happening here on Earth. Felix promised himself to open up more, for his mother's memory and his sister's sake. However, this wasn't the only time disaster would strike for the Teller family - Fee would later miscarry a child, and Felix was the one she relied on to put the pieces back together. While shopping for books to cheer Fee up at a muggle store in London, Felix would met a beautiful young woman reading to a group of children. Felix had been struck with the ease that she communicated with the children, the glow of her smile as she turned the pages, the echo of her laugh at their antics. He had to know her. The woman was Madeleine Leblanc, a socialite who resided in Belgravia. Madeleine would be the first person outside Felix's family that he would feel any sort of connection with. It seemed that he, like his father before him, would be struck by a beautiful muggle woman.
site events reaction:
Felix regards the most recent events with the same cool distance that he regards most things. He was displeased when he read about the death of Hermione Granger and the breakout from Azkaban, but as these events did not have a huge impact on his life, he did not pay them much attention.
