i'm not entirely here half of me has disappeared December 12, 2025 @edward Another long week, a very tedious week. While she enjoyed her work, Ana had really just wanted to get out of the Ministry today. Lately, there had been nothing but paperwork and catching up on what they weren't able to while that lockdown had prevented most of them from traveling. It was hard to do your international work when you weren't allowed to leave the country you were in. Really, it had been a blessing and a disguise--it had given her more time to catch up on work but also look for anything relevant for Ouroboros. It was a fine line she walked. If she were ever to be caught, it would mean some nasty consequences and the dismantling of all the work she and her family had put in even to begin to redeem their name in the Wizarding World. What she needed this Friday night was a drink, but to avoid necessarily running into any coworkers at the usual hot spots on a Friday night. Unsurprisingly the Leaky Cauldron wasn't terribly busy though the faces she saw weren't those of anyone familiar. She hadn't been at the bar long and was enjoying the peace that came with the busy buzz of a pub full of strangers when a voice reached her ear as soon as she set down her glass of wine back on the old counter. Ana paused and slowly looked to the side to see the face that matched that voice. Of course, he was here. If she didn't see him at work, she saw him at something Ouroboros related. He was an interesting fellow, and though he had too much energy for her liking in general, it hadn't stopped them from becoming a sort of...friends. "We really need to stop being seen together, or people might get the impression that we're friends." She spoke with a natural sarcasm, if she hadn't wanted the company, she would have said so, but she figured it wouldn't kill her. Who would expect a Karkaroff and a Lupin ever to be friends in this day and age, but that was just progress for her image. Since she started at the Ministry, Ana had somewhat known Teddy but never very closely until her brother recruited her to the group and they had actually had a conversation. She could see where they might not get along, but at the same time, there was a natural chemistry. Though as far as her brother knew, they were both just Ministry co-workers.

was it a friday night if he wasn't stopping into the leaky cauldron? he didn't think so. it was almost a tradition now to come to the cauldron on most night, but fridays especially. it was when it seemed that a lot of the ministry descended on the popular pub and that was fine with him. it gave him the chance to mingle, talk to people that he didn't often get the chance to chat with at work and it gave him the chance to drink and eat. he could drink at home but he did prefer to get started while he was out. after all it was easier to ignore the fact you were drinking alone if you were already quite drunk.
he spotted a familiar face at the bar and he grinned a little. now there was a nice distraction. it was strange, he and her brother didn't get along at all. there was even a touch of hate between them because he'd gone after one of the people teddy would defend with his dying breath but ana? there was something different about her. she was fun, she was interesting and she didn't hate his company either. he walked over to where she was sitting and he leaned his elbow on the bar as he looked at her. "fancy meeting you here." he said as she turned to look at him. he took a sip of the drink in his hand and he chuckled a little. "well that's not the impression we want to give them. shall i scowl at you?" he said as he slid into the empty seat next to her.

i'm not entirely here half of me has disappeared December 12, 2025 @edward Ana would not ever admit she felt any stress of any kind, and she honestly didn’t. But pressure was something entirely different. The pressure of keeping her work with Ouroboros separate from Interpol and the upcoming plans to steal the Magic Dampener was primarily on her mind. She’d spoken to their contact in the IT department, and things seemed to be moving along as expected. Though, she’d also never admit to her brother that she felt a bit nervous about it. She couldn’t show that to anyone, let alone her older brother. Though it was just another item to add to that list. The same list that included the only slightly irritating presence of Teddy. It had become abundantly clear to Ana that Lupin didn’t like her brother, and naturally, Ana sided with Cas. That had never been a question. However, sometimes the only way to pass the time in the safe house meeting rooms was through small talk. She wouldn’t go so far as to say they were friends but if there was one thing she was taught as the sole daughter of a Pureblood family was how to find uses for people.
And so, it had become just that. A convenience, really, and though Ana tolerated Teddy more now than she did initially, her allegiances never shifted. She resisted the temptation to roll her eyes as she picked up the glass again to take a small sip. ”You could take that stupid grin off your face.” She suggested bluntly. He was far too cheery for her liking at times, but from what he had been told of him and his former Hogwarts house, that was probably to be expected. She drank the remaining wine she had and placed the empty glass back on the counter, but farther away so the bartender could see it. She looked at Teddy again, taking a moment to look him up and down quickly. ”You could make yourself useful and buy me a drink.” She suggested. Although their initial encounters had actually been sober, lately, drinks had been involved, so this all felt all too familiar now.

he only felt his grin grew as she asked him to take it off his face and he couldn't help the laugh that escaped him and he shook his head a little. it was worth the slap, comment or whatever pain would come from him failing to wipe the smile off his face but there was just something in him that couldn't. "see now i know you want me to, i don't think i will." he said as he settled into the seat beside her and he raised the glass to his lips and took a long sip of the liquid that left a burning sensation in his throat. he glanced to the empty wine glass she sat on the bar and couldn't help but think she was dropping hints.
either to him or the bartender that didn't look like he was a clued in as he should have been to the happenings at the bar he was supposed to be working and not just clued into the cute but drunk woman who had draped herself over the end of the bar. "when he ever realizes he's a bartender again, i just might." he said as he drained the last of the whiskey in his glass and he set it down next to her wine glass. "but you need to return the favour. there's none of this chivalrous drink buying here." he said as his grin turned into something of a playful smirk before he let his face drop back into it's relaxed state.

i'm not entirely here half of me has disappeared December 12, 2025 @edward Being a woman in her world, Ana quickly learned to be patient and never show her hand. With the likes of Teddy, it was easier than with the men she was used to dealing with, especially if he was keeping him around for convenience. Nobody said you had to be friends. This back and forth of being coy and attempting to be cute wasn’t her style, but he apparently found it amusing. Besides, for a woman like Ana, there was something she enjoyed about finding a man who could take orders—no matter how tall he tried to stand. ”Are you trying to win points with me or annoy me?” Ana asked, giving him a look. She still remembered when she mentioned their first dalliance to Astrid, and her best friend had wondered exactly why. Ana remarked, why not? They were adults who had needs and ran in similar circles, and even if he had a personality she didn’t exactly get along with, he wasn’t bad to look at either.
At his last remark, her eyebrows raised up. It was a bold thing to say and might have warranted a slap for just about anyone or, in her case—a nice hex. So, what was he asking in exchange for this drink? Well, she figured easily what the answer might be, but why give him that satisfaction. Besides, she’d been trained to play dumb in such situations—it boosted a man’s ego for some reason. ”Well, luckily for you, Edward…chivalrous was never my type.” That note was true. She could take care of herself. ”But I’m not sure if a drink is worth whatever favor you’re going to ask of me. It has to be worth my while.”

he couldn't help but be amused by the look that she was giving him. they weren't exactly friends, they did use each other to fill a need but he didn't dislike her company either. he knew that he liked her more than she liked him, it was more tolerate from her he could feel that much, so it didn't bother him too much if he annoyed her. after all they could scratch each other's itch and bid each other goodbye. it was simple no strings, no expectation and that's what he liked about it. "honestly? i haven't decided yet." he said as he lifted one shoulder casually, dropping it before he leaned on the bar next to her.
"i think it's already been established that we're not each other's type." he said as he folded his arms a little and he tilted his head as he looked at her. though she did seem to have been slightly miffed at him for his comment about trading the drink for a favour. he hadn't meant anything but friendly but he couldn't help but feel that that's how she'd taken it. he might not have known her too well personally but he knew enough to wonder. "name your price." he said as he once again tried to get the bartenders attention, wishing a little too hard that he could spell him or send a well placed hex down in his direction.

i'm not entirely here half of me has disappeared December 12, 2025 @edward To be fair, at first, it was a little endearing when Lupin would tiptoe that line between flirting and annoyance. Today it was leaning toward annoyance, but she didn't show she was annoyed initially. Really it was about a few options, she could just leave, but she also could have gone straight home after work, and yet she didn't. There was something to be said about convenience and also that nobody was immune to it. Her brother might disagree, indicating it was the by-product of a lack of discipline or standards. Looking at Teddy again, Ana might be inclined to agree, but at least they both knew exactly what this was, and there would never be any confusion on that point.
Teddy didn't push the topic but instead seemed to take a step back. While he walked on the edge of irritating at times, he was never rude by any means. Then again, Ana had a high threshold for that kind of behavior. In Pureblood society, many men tended to feel entitled to what they thought was rightfully theres, and Ana was very happy to show them otherwise and put them in their place. Sipping her wine, she looked away for a moment, thinking of what a good 'price' might be. "Well, I suppose that depends on what you can afford, Edward." Ana finished off the remnants of the wine in her glass, placing it back on the bar--empty. "You can start with that drink."
