The ball was all Lusie’s idea, and Sybil had to hand it to her little sister; it turned out spectacular. So many witches and wizards dressed to the nines, and in Muggle dress to boot! Sybil had been too busy at work to really help her sister, but it was looking like she really didn’t need the help. She thought back to two years ago, and the Yule Ball at Hogwarts. That was when she was with Casey, and not Lysander, though she had seen her best friend at the ball near the food at one point. So much had changed in two years, the main one being that Lysander was more than her best friend. He was her soulmate, her partner in life, and now that he was back, she knew this in her heart more than ever. He was the other reason Sybil hadn’t been around as much to help with the ball, but since Lusie had her Toby romance, she was sure she understood. Smiling to herself, Sybil swayed to the music a little before gliding over to the buffet. She grabbed a glass of champagne on the way, sipping it slowly as she made her way to the food. Carefully picking up a plate, she loaded up with some delectable appetizers before making her way to an empty table. She nibbled on the food daintily, content to watch the dancers and people mingling until someone came down and sat at the table with her. open!

@susanvictoria after leaving the group of his colleagues, raleigh made his way through the crowd in somewhat of an attempt to see other people he might have known or anyone that looked vaguely interesting to talk to. he wasn't really in the most sociable mood, but he'd come to the ball so he figured he should make something of an effort. he spoke to a few people as he made his way around the room, the conversations quick, generally light because it wasn't really good manners to delve into anything that required hours of conversation or much emotion. party talk was short, direct and then you moved on. or at least that's one of the things he'd picked up from his mother.
it was her party and yet, it was a little bit of a surprise to see her sitting at one of the tables. sybil windsor. needless to say their interactions over the years had been varied. they had been strained, sometimes calm but not often and he was sure there had been a few comments of contempt made on both parts, for what he could admit were decent reasons. but they'd only really become somewhat friendly when they'd worked together and he'd left not long after to go digging about underground with goblins. he made his way around a few people and walked over to the table she was sitting at, slipping into one of the chairs close to her. "sybil."

Sybil was pleasantly surprised when none other than Raleigh Flint chose to seat himself at her little table. “Raleigh, I’m glad you could make the festivities,” she responded with a smile. Things had been tense between them for a short while, but as any good adult knows, sometimes time heals all wounds. Raleigh had left his position at the Ministry to join the Cursebreakers, and Sybil personally felt that was a much better job for him. Goblins didn’t care about your background, magical or otherwise, just as long as you brought them the treasure they were seeking. The mess with Raleigh’s parents was a disaster, putting it lightly, and Sybil had a feeling that the Ministry was judging Raleigh based on his parents, which wasn’t very fair. Of course, this was just an assumption on Sybil’s part, but she had learned, through friends and books, that the wizarding world did not forget the past, and they rarely gave the next generation a fair shot. “So, how is the cursebreaker world? Been anywhere exciting recently?” Sybil asked, taking a sip of her champagne. She gestured to the ball. “All Lusie’s by the way, I just agreed to the idea and having my name on the invitations,” she admitted, a bit sheepish. Though ball planning really used to be Sybil’s forte, ever since she graduated from Hogwarts and started working full time, she found that she really just didn’t have spare moments in the day to plan elaborate events. Maybe she was what they called a workaholic, but Sybil really believed that she could use her position to implement changes, positive changes, when it came to the magical creatures of the world. @raleigh

@susanvictoria "well you know me, i never could resist a chance to look pompous." he said as he rain his fingers lightly down the inside of the edge of his jacket, his fingers briefly brushing the buttons that held it closed against his chest. it was the look he did prefer if he was being honest but his job didn't really allow him the chance to wear one often. they weren't the most practical while kneeling in dirt or while digging around the depths of caverns and tombs.
"i wouldn't say exciting. interesting would be somewhat of a stretch but it hasn't been too dull." he said, thinking back onto the recent places he'd visited through work. "it was hard to get out while we were in quarantine." it had put a damper on most of the planned outings and exploration but now it was lifted they were able to start planning more things. he glanced around the party when she said that it was all her sisters doing and he nodded slightly, appreciation on his face. "remind me to tell her i admire her talent for grandeur."
it was no secret that he'd grown up with money, though perhaps sybil was one of the people he knew that could understand the judgment that came from that. their lives had been vastly different but they were prevailed. even with all the horrors he'd grown up with, there had been one thing he hadn't grown up lacking. and with that had come with a certain expectation and enjoyment of things that oozed luxury. "how's the ministry treating you?"

Sybil snorted, hiding her mouth behind a hand at Raleighs’ comment on looking pompous. “I think you look smart,” she told him. She doubted he got a lot of chances to dress up, being a Cursebreaker and all. She supposed it was good he still knew how to dress formally, after all that had happened with his family, specifically his parents. This wasn’t the time or place to discuss that though. “I’ll be sure to pass along your admiration,” she promised. “The Ministry is treating me well, though I have to say I have some relief working in the Beings division now,” Sybil admitted, twirling her champagne glass by its stem before taking a sip. “Do you know much about Renard Goyle? He’s….” she paused, trying to choose the right words. “A piece of work,” she finally said, laughing a little. “I decided to do the Blishwick Matchmaking services after Lysander left on his adventures, and could you believe it, he set me up with Renard. Of all the people.” Sybil scoffed, taking another sip of champagne. “Sorry, I just don’t even know what to think of him. Dedicated to his job, absolutely. But as a person? I don’t get him,” she admitted. @raleigh
