May, 2025 The red liquid on Andy's hands threatened to stain as she scrubbed them clean. She had done this hundreds of times before, of course, but this time was the worst. She groaned loudly, "seriously? I cut my hand on the bottle opener? What am I, sixteen?" she complained. "I mean, sometimes you make love like you still are," Viks voice carried from the bedroom. She waved a hand and smiled at the "ow!" that followed. She giggled, finishing up the wrapping and dressing of the cut and making her way back into the bedroom. Vik had tossed the book aside that she summoned to smack him and glared at her, but still couldn't help but reach for her hand once she had climbed back into bed at got comfortable under the sheets. She took his hand, of course, and their fingers started their normal dance together. They were used to it, they flowed like a well oiled machine now, it was one of the few constants she had left. She frowned, looking down at their intertwining fingers. "Hey, An," Vik spoke softly, the concern evident, "are you avoiding sleep so you don't have the dream again?" damn, he knew her well. She sighed, nodding, and leaning forward to kiss his knuckles. She left her lips there to look up at his face as she spoke, "I just can't handle it anymore. The greenhouse, the plants dying wherever I pass, him waiting at the end with that terrified look in his eyes... I'm barely getting any sleep," she muttered against his skin. He smirked slightly, "I mean, the barely sleeping thing isn't only the dreams fault," he teased, but the genuine worry for her was still there. She laughed a little, pulling his hand close to her in order to lean up and kiss him on the lips. They both breathed in unison as they kissed, but he broke it off first. "Andy, you have to tell him. You're not going to ruin his life," he said. Andy groaned, annoyed, and rolled her as as she rolled onto her back and looked up at the ceiling. "You always say that, V. But I've done it before," she answered quietly. He moved closer, leaning over her slightly, wrapping his hand around her waist gently. "And I'll repeat this. You're not just anybody. You're Andy, and Andy is worth giving a thousand chances," she shifted her gaze to make eye contact with him as he spoke, "I promise, he feels that way too," he softly encouraged. Andy took in a deep breath. They had talked about this so many times. In fact, Vik new more about her feelings for Phil than anyone else did. Which mostly people would find strange considering they were still sleeping together, but this was just how their relationship worked. They liked what they had. She nodded slightly, reaching her hand up to play at the hair curling around his ear. "I'll think about it. For now, let's get back to that avoiding sleep thing," she suggested. He rolled his eyes but nodded, and their lips met in unison with perfect timing as they had a thousand times before.
