10th January 2026
It felt like forever ago since Deva had properly taken time to talk to Ophelia. The two were close friends from back in their school days but Deva had to honestly admit she'd been so busy of late that she'd barely cleared time in her schedule for more than occasional calls and a short visit. This time Deva had invited Fee over for a sleep over since the girls hadn't spent enough time together in such a long time she felt that only a lot of quality time would start to bridge the gap, not to mention that she had so many stories to tell Fee. The entire drama with Rhys, meeting Bjorn, being there as he got sick... It had already been a busy year and the year had barely even begun.
She had invited Fee in and had just gotten back from the kitchen with a bowl overflowing with snacks and levitated multiple bottles of booze along with her. Her rum collection had grown quite a bit since meeting Bjorn, even if she'd always enjoyed the occasional drink. She'd set up a corner for the pair to sleep in, in the middle of the living room. Her apartment wasn't all that big and it was the easiest space. She'd cleaned her home so the place as looking meticulous as ever. Deva was a bit of a clean freak, even if she could easily make a mess if she was having fun. She was just the type to clean it up before going to bed or first thing in the morning.
She looked at Fee and smiled. "I got us some of your favourites." She wiggled the bowl in front of Fee to show off before sitting down. "Sorry it's been a while since we hung out. Life has been a little wild lately." She grabbed one of the rum bottles from the air and poored herself a rather large portion. She'd started to handle her drinks a lot better and well, since that time she'd tried to make a point by drinking moonshine rum just didn't seem to land quite as heavy as before. It was probably the lack of hallucinations. That helped a lot.

Ophelia had been beyond delighted when Deva had reached out for a girls night. She hadn’t realized how much she NEEDED one, with managing her newfound ability to trying to hunt down Sarah Oliviera’s location, her mind needed a break, even if it was just for one night. Plus, Deva had casually mentioned a new man in her life, and Ophelia needed those details! She arrived at Deva’s place just after sunset, and was let in by her friend, who looked just as happy to see her. After giving her a hug, Deva showed off the snacks and drinks she had prepared for them and she smiled. Deva was always very thoughtful when it came to planning girls nights, and this was certainly not an exception. “It’s perfect Deva,” she said gleefully, taking a handful of popcorn and stuffing it unceremoniously into her mouth. “Wild is one way to look at it,” she added deviously after she had swallowed. “So do you want to wait until we’re a few drinks in, or do you want to spill the beans about your new lover now?” she questioned, getting right to the point. She was sure her friend was just bursting to gush about him anyway, so she figured might as well start now. @deva

Deva smiled in delight as her friend instantly dug into the snacks she'd set up for the pair of them. Popcorn, naturally. "Should I put on a movie to go with that popcorn?" She said jokingly before sitting herself down and beaming brightly at her friend. It had been far too long since the two of them had a proper girls night in. Deva had been extremely busy with work and after everything Ophelia had been through it made sense that they had both required some time to actually sort through the messes in their lives. At least now they had made time, which worked out quite a bit better. She almost boiled over in enthusiasm as Fee mentioned Bjorn and found herself instantly smiling. "Oh he's amazing." She gushed automatically, smiling so big it almost hurt her face. "I actually first met him back in September. Just ran into each other when I went to the pier in Belfast. There was this really old but well maintained ship and I completely fell in love with it, you know how I love sailing." She said, the smile never really leaving her face. "He told me he was a sailor and gave me a small tour across the boat before we went to have dinner at this Italian place. Pretty good food too." She said, having Italian roots herself meant she cared deeply. Who put pineapple on pizza? Only crazy people. "We talked all night but he was extremely well behaved and didn't try anything funny no matter how much I flirted with him." She said, laughing easily. Sailors had quite the reputation for sleeping around and Deva had tried and failed to seduce him. Or well, not so much failed as failed to make him relinquish control. Naturally there was still plenty more to the story, but she decided to first poor Fee a drink before going further in. She'd already grabbed the bottles and glasses before she'd started and soon handed Fee a glass. "If you prefer something else, just let me know." She said with a smile as she took a sip from her own glass. Ophelia Mae Teller

“Obviously, should we watch an old classic Pirates of the Caribbean?” Ophelia said teasingly. She did love that movie though, and wouldn’t be mad if Deva had it to watch together. She of course was joking as she knew Bjorn, Deva’s new love, was a sailor and not a pirate, but it still amused her. Ophelia listened attentively as Deva recounted her first meeting with Bjorn, upon a well-maintained ship that her friend had fallen in love with first. It made sense, Ophie knew Deva’s family was big into sailing, and she had a keen interest in all types of boats. Ophelia didn’t get seasick while on boats, but that was about the extent of her love and knowledge. She’d gone out with Deva a few times in their youth, but she couldn’t figure out all the terminology or willpower it took to get sailing right. She was perfectly content to rest on a boat while others did the work. She’d just bring the snacks! Ophelia raised an eyebrow and smirked mischievously. “You mean to tell me NOTHING happened that first night?” she said in mock surprise, then giggled as she accepted her drink. Taking a sip, she nodded. “No this is perfectly fine thanks,” she told her, then leaned in. “So what about the OTHER times you’ve seen him since then?” she asked, pleading with puppy dog eyes for Deva to tell her more. @deva

Deva couldn't help but laugh as Fee suggested Pirates of the Caribbean as movie. For all Fee knew Bjorn was just a sailor, not a pirate, so the choice was only more entertaining because she didn't realise just how accurate her choice was to his actual profession. "Oh dear lord." Deva laughed as she went through her movie collection to get to the movie she'd suggested. "Of course you go for the pirate movie." She said, almost breathless with held back laughter at the irony of it all. Deva smiled and shrugged slightly. "Nothing at all, though not for lack of trying on my side." She admitted with a twinkle to her eyes. She'd tried with quite a lot of enthusiasm but Bjorn had iron restraint when he wanted to. None of that had been left by the time their second meeting had come around though, which had just shown her that he had truly been interested in her the first time but was a man of his word. She took a sip from her drink, smiling happily. Her face lit up as Fee asked about the other times she'd seen him. "Oh a LOT happened." She said happily, smiling from ear to ear. "The second time we met we'd been writing letters for weeks. I had that break down due to work pressure and he literally raced back just for me." She was glowing in admiration as she remembered. "So I met him at the harbour and then he properly showed off his cabin.... he forgot to mention the fact he's actually captain of the ship so that was an interesting surprise." She said, forgetting for a moment that she too forgot to mention that specific little detail. "So we were .... occupied." She said with a little giggle. "Then his sister, who is the first mate, came back from business and decided to get them back on course without bothering to check with Bjorn if they were good to go so I was kind of a stowaway." She said laughing at the insanity. "I took a small vacation at that point so we could spend some time together." It had been very busy, but in the best of ways. Deva handed the remote to Fee so she could determine things such as the volume and when they'd actually start as she curled up on the floor with the already half empty glass in hand. "So needless to say that we more than made up for missing out on those kinds of fun the first night." She said with yet another wicked little giggle. It was a great thing to finally have a good girls night with Fee again. She needed to make sure she kept doing this regularly because it was one of the best ways to relax whenever Bjorn was out at sea. It helped her feel just a little more normal. Ophelia Mae Teller

Ophelia raised her brows and smiled as Deva explained their second meeting. “Wow, he does sound like a dashing sailor man,” she said. Deva had told her about it after, and Ophie wished she could have been there for her friend. But it sounded like Bjorn had it well in hand. “So he’s a captain but his sister is still telling him what to do? Wish I could do that with Felix sometimes,” she added with a giggle. Stowaway, how daring, especially for someone like Deva who had her life planned down to the minute. “That sounds exhilarating,” she said, breathing out a dreamy sigh. She would love to have a romantic fantasy like Deva was experiencing, but ever since losing the baby and then Dakota so soon after...she wasn’t ready. Not yet. Ophelia pressed play and snuggled back into the couch. As Captain Jack Sparrow made his appearance, she laughed suddenly. “I’m glad that Bjorn has an actual ship and not a sinking little boat,” she commented, taking another sip of her drink. “What’s his ships name?” she asked, as Jack spoke of being the Captain of the Black Pearl. @deva

Oh yes, Bjorn could be a very charming and dashing gentleman when he put his mind to it. Yet at the same time Deva had gotten to know there was a flipside to that coin. When pressed he was truly a ruthless pirate captain and she was glad to have only glanced the surface of that side. She knew he was bound to be a lot less bad around his own crew than around people that had somehow wronged him and the thought alone terrified her a little. Yet she knew exactly what she was getting into, as she was a clever girl. She was simply the kind of girl that was loyal to a fault and wouldn't even dream of turning her back on the man she'd fallen in love with because of his profession. She chuckled slightly at the mention of Bjorns sister. "Yes, his sister is quite frightning though. It's quite clear she knows exactly how to deal with being around a bunch of rowdy men in a confined space most of the time. You do not want to mess with her, trust me. She's terrifying." Deva said laughing. She then smiled slightly at the mention of her brother. "How has Felix been? I see him on occassion around the ministry but not that often. He's constantly hiding out in that weird dungeon of those unspeakables. Do you have any idea what kind of things they do down there?" Deva asked, always having been curious to a degree but never bold enough to ask Fee's brother. But her best friend? She could ask Fee, even if she didn't expect her to have any answers. Deva snuggled close to her bestie and learned her head on the shoulder of her best friend, laughing along as she too took a long drink of her own booze. Then Fee asked what the name of his ship was and Deva pulled a face. "Don't judge him, it's a family heirloom. It's called the Jolly Roger." Deva said, a faint distaste about the name still unable to colour her voice due to the sheer magnificence of the ship. Not to mention it could fly. "It's a really gorgeous oldfashioned ship. It's been in the family for generations. It's actually what drew my attention. I was feeling landlocked one day and decided to go to the harbour to at least feel a sea breeze. He and his crew happened to be there for repairs. I bumped into him because I was distracted by his ship. Imagine that...." She said with a strange little smile. The odds she'd have met him if not for that chance meeting were so small that it seemed almost like fate had brought them together. Deva smiled despite herself as Jack swindled the poor man in the port by stealing his money after paying. She could totally imagine Bjorn or one in his crew doing the exact same thing. When played for comedic effect, it was really hard not to find it slightly amusing these days. Before? She'd probably have scoffed and rolled her eyes due to being raised by aurors and lawyers. Yes, one day that was going to be quite the conversation with her parents. Ophelia Mae Teller

Ophelia giggled. “Felix is well thank you, busy as ever. And you know he never talks about his work; it’s the Unspeakables way,” she said with a wave of her hand and a roll of her eyes. They knew growing up their father never talked about his job, though she was pretty sure he would tell their mother some things; she’d hear them talking quietly, late at night after they were supposed to be in bed. She had been her fathers’ weakness and strength; he could talk to her about anything, and she’d never tell a soul if he asked it of her. That was what Ophelia wanted, and from the sound of it, what Deva had found. “They deal with a lot of mysteries after all, so I guess if you have a mystery of sorts to be solved, they’d be the best one to help.” That was how her and Heleen had become friends; Ophelia wanted to find Sarah Oliviera, who she was more certain than ever had caused her miscarriage, and she needed answers at the very least. And maybe a good solid punch to Sarah’s face from her own fist. She listened as Deva explained to her how she met Bjorn in the first place. “You? Distracted?” she said, legitimately surprised. Deva was organized, down to her ten year plan laminated on her refrigerator. “It must have been a magnificent sight to behold for you to be distracted so,” she mused. She laughed at the name too; the Jolly Roger. Why, that was Captain Hook’s ships name as well! “Did it look like the Black Pearl?” she inquired, watching as the fearsome pirate ship made its debut on screen. She’d never seen a ship like that up close, and wondered, again, if perhaps Bjorn was a pirate of sorts. Perhaps you needed to be, if you were to work on the open seas like Bjorn and his sister. @deva

While Deva would have found it nearly unthinkable before to have a job you couldn't tell anybody about, these days she could imagine the benefit. She didn't really want to go around telling anybody what kind of work Bjorn actually did, since that wasn't really the kind of work or job that she herself supported. However, it seemed to make him happy and as long as he made it seem as though it was all legal she didn't mind too much being exposed to it. Probable deniability and whatnot. She chuckled at Fee's reaction to mention of the work her brother did and shrugged helplessly. "I think I'm lucky not to have any mysteries I need unravelled. I'm content with what I have, if not plain happy." She said with a big smile on her face. What more could she really wish for? Being distracted was indeed not something that Deva often had problems with. She had a very clear vision of both what she wanted at all times and how to achieve it. The laminated ten year plan on the fridge was but a small part of that meticulous and organised mind of hers. She knew she took most things much further than the average person that but was okay. It was as much part of her as Bjorns heritage was to him. They both found ways to make it work regardless, even if that did mean her house was a little messy whenever he was around. "It was quite magnificent." Deva said with a dreamy smile on her face. "Oh you should have seen her, lying the harbour and swaying ever so gently on the waves. She's utterly majectic." Deva said with that same dreamy expression that perfectly matched her tone of voice. At the mention of the Black Pearl she pulled a face of utter distaste. "No, thankfully not. A perfectly pristine ship painted black on every surface would be insane enough but the Pearl is in disrepair constantly and most certainly not half as lovingly maintained as the Jolly Roger is." She shook her head slightly. "Not a single part of the Jolly Roger is in bad shape and all parts that need replacing are handcrafted down to the last detail. It would not have endured the test of time to this point if it received as little love and care as the Pearl does." She said, her face scrunching up disapprovingly once again. Yes, maintenance was bound to be very expensive but it was well worth it. Ships like that were no longer being made so every day the ship got more valueable in terms of historic value, not to mention the sentimental value it held to the Krok family. Ophelia Mae Teller

Ophelia smiled as Deva declared her contentment. “Well, you know that is all I want for you Deva, truly,” she told her, squeezing her arm in solidarity. It was what she wanted for herself as well one day, but she had plenty of space in her heart for her best friends’ happiness. “ I can’t wait to meet him. When do you plan on introducing us?” she asked her, a playful smile playing across her lips. As her best friend, it was her natural duty to question this man who had captured her heart, to make sure he was good enough for her. Deva would hate it on the surface she presumed, but would be thankful for it deep down. Deva’s expression turned dreamy as she described the Jolly Roger, Bjorn’s ship. Ophelia could tell that if she saw the ship in person, she would think it magnificent as well. “It sounds like he takes incredibly good care of it,” she admitted, smiling. Bjorn obviously knew what he was doing, as he had impressed Deva, who liked things to be perfect. “I’m sure it must have been a daunting thing the first time something needed to repair, but it sounds like he has the hang of it now,” she commented. “I would like to see it, after I’ve met him and approved of course,” she added, teasing her friend a little, unable to help herself. @deva

Luckily the two girls seemed to have an understanding between them that nothing was more important than being happy. Deva really hoped that the mysteries that Fee faced could be resolved quickly so she could move forward with her life and find a way to truly be happy again. Deva feared that chasing her mysteries around would stand in the way of her happiness, but that wasn't something she was likely to admit out loud. She didn't really want to seem overbearing or rude. If needed, she'd mentioned it but for now it all seemed to be within healthy ranges of interest. She asked when she planned on introducing them and Deva smiled a nearly dreamy little smile. "Well as soon as I'm able to, really." She said with a slight shrug. "It does depend on when they make harbour again but I don't expect it'll take long. I don't think he quite enjoys being separated from me anymore than I do." If he did, he hadn't really given her any proper indication of that. If nothing else, whenever they saw each other he loved showing her how much he missed her, in every single way he could imagine. The Jolly Roger, what a ship and what a terrible name. Not that she'd change any of it for all the gold in the world. She loved Bjorn and with loving him also came him heritage. Approved or not, it was part of him, which meant that she loved it as long as it was, even if she didn't approve of it. If she opted to only love people for the good things about them, she'd never find anybody to be good enough for her. She saw his piracy as a flaw, but not one that was so utterly irredeemable that it was worth breaking up over. No doubt her family would disagree. "He does. He's about as organised and meticulous as I am when it comes to his ship." She said with a chuckle. "Not with his cleaning. It's twice as much work whenever he's over, but I'll gladly take the shirts he leaves on the bedroom floor over having him that far away. Whenever he leaves again I'll have plenty of time to clean before he returns. He's not a pig, after all. Just less... obsessive." She said with a shrug. It was a difference. "I'm sure he'd be more than willing to show off his ship after you've approved of him. Just as I have no doubt that you'll approve of him. He's perfect for me after all." Ophelia Mae Teller

Ophelia nodded happily when Deva promised they’d meet as soon as he was back. “What a different life he must be. Your only sense of schedule is the sea and the tides.” She sighed dreamily, then threw a wink at Deva. “He probably shook you up in EVERY way possible,” she said suggestively. She loved Deva like the sister she never had, but her best friend could use an earth-shattering romance. Deva loved schedules as much as Ophelia loved…well, not having a schedule. She supposed that was why she wanted to be a mediwitch - they didn’t really have schedules. There were emergencies and she’d be there. There’d be Quidditch games, but she didn’t have to attend every single one. It’d be nice. “Deva are you telling me…you allow a man to leave his dirty shirt…on the floor?” Ophelia gasped in faux surprise, though part of her was impressed. Deva loved cleanliness, attention to detail, and order. If she let Bjorn mess up her pristinely clean bedroom, Deva had it bad. “He really must be perfect then,” she mused, popping some more popcorn into her mouth. She swallowed before she spoke again. “Does he have any cute single pirate friends you can introduce me to?” she asked with a grin. @deva

Deva smiled as Fee rather accurately diagnosed his lifestyle. It was perfectly sensible for him to live such a life and at times she desired to be able to live much the same way, although she was well aware it wasn't really her nature. She liked structure and order to her life and he clearly didn't mind a lot of unexpected surprises. "I live like that sometimes... when I'm on vacation." Deva said, laughing at the notion she could do so longer than a few weeks. Considering that even on a ship she stuck to a schedule as much as possible. "Okay, maybe not quite. I still wake up at the same time every day for breakfast and I don't leave anything lying about either." She smiled as she shook her head. Although he surely kept his quarters plenty tidy. It made sense, since heavy storms combined with a bunch of loose items were a recipe for disaster. "But yes, he did shake me up. He doesn't allow for an overly predictable life and I never thought I could actually enjoy that." She hadn't thought she had an adventurous bone in her body, but he'd proven her wrong. Deva resisted the urge to get defensive rather poorly as she opened her mouth at the faux surprise that Fee displayed as she'd mentioned him being allowed to make a mess in her otherwise meticulously perfect home. She closed her mouth and pouted just a tiny bit. "You make me sound impossible." She complained slightly, although she knew her friend was perfectly right and just teasing. She couldn't help but smile. "I wouldn't have believed it either though." She admitted with an almost shy quality to her voice. He was perfect for her, in so many more ways than she'd thought he'd be. More than she thought anybody could be. It was strange, but she felt comfortable around him so soon. At the mention of single pirate friends she laughed rather freely. "Fee!" She said almost indignantly. "I don't know. A lot of the guys in the crew are probably single but most of them lack a total sense of sophistication. I'm not sure if that is what you want but I'm sure you can join us for a trip at some point to see if any lads catch your fancy." She promised her friend with a chuckle. Bjorn rarely ever told her no, so she figured it could be arranged. Ophelia Mae Teller
