January 2026 Doing the tourist thing didn't pan out too well last time Ella had tried it. And she had been busy with performances and practices after that. She had gotten up early, taking pictures and selfies all around town, finally stopping for lunch, the girl entered the leaky cauldron and ordered a truely impressive amount of food. Sitting down at a booth she looked around at other wizards and witches. Many seeming quite normal compared to the circus family she spent most of her time with.
Sitting down, she took off her winter coat, exposing some of her many tattoos. She waited, sipping at a butterbeer when she noticed an old friend. She let down her dink, raising her hand to bring attention to herself "Hey Rosie! Long time no see!"

Rosie had been busier with ever at work since the Island came into the public eye. She had gone herself to investigate and was still dealing with the consequences of her trip. A part of her had believed if she went it might rid her of her vampirism, and it kind of did, but she didn’t feel like herself anymore. She had been a vampire for almost a year and while it was something that while she didn’t love, she was used to. And she couldn’t even begin to comprehend how much it had changed her. Probably even for the better, she thought. Her wyrd touch was far too much for her to handle and was really starting to strain her mental health. Because of that, she liked to get out of the office. The brightly lit headquarters of the Daily Prophet just served as a reminder of everything she suffered for this job. She was a sports reporter, her job wasn’t meant to be this dangerous.
She looked up from her notebook when someone spoke to her. She had sort of stuffed herself away into a little booth in the corner and was surprised when anyone even spotted her, but the friendly face was a welcome sight. “Ella! Hi!” Rosie smiled up at her friend. “I know, it’s been a bit. Sorry.” Rosie knew she had been a little hard to reach lately. Even after having gotten one of those magical cell phones. She had mostly kept to herself. “How are you? Would you like to join me?” she offered.

Ella was glad to see her old friend. Since joining the circus, she hadn't had a chance to see many people she used to know. But she wouldn't trade it, she loved to travel, and performing was apart of who she was. The girl offered Ella to join her, and she did, grabbing her jacket, bag, and butterbeer the girl moved over to sit at the booth, across from her friend. "Things have been great. Been working on a few new performance ideas. You should come to the circus sometime." The Wizarding circus had come to London some time ago, and there were many from around the area who had traveled to see it. "How have you been?"
As she talked, her food came, it was a number of plates. Ella had always had a large apatite, but since most of her days consisted of constant exercise, stretching, flying, and so on, it had only grown. She grabbed some chips and started to eat, sticking out her split tongue as she accepted the food into her mouth. "Want some." She offered her friend, mouth partly full. Something like this wouldn't surprise anyone who really knew her. Those who knew her at school would know that she had pierced her tongue when she was young, keeping it from her parents, but she had since abandoned the priecing and just split it right down the middle.

Her friend admitted that she had been working on some new acts and that Rosie needed to come see a performance and she nodded her agreement, “Of course, let me know when you want me there and I’ll make it happen.” maybe she could drag Albus along, thought she wasn’t sure if the circus was really his scene. She was starting to feel like something out of a circus lately. Her intentions on the island had been to cure herself of vampirism, and she did end up walking away without the desire to drink blood, but now she had to cut her hair every morning or she’d be tripping over it by bedtime. “I’ve been good, just busy with work.” she insisted, nodding down to her notebook on the table besides her almost empty coffee cup. She had just come for a change of scenery and a decent drink, but she had ended up drafting nearly a whole article she had been accidentally putting off. It gave her a good sense of productivity for the day.
Ella’s food was delivered to the table and she offered Rosie some. Rosie smirked. She had missed having a real appetite and wanting to eat actual food and not just food as a vessel for a blood dipping sauce. “I might nibble a bit.” she admitted, helping herself to a fry. “How’ve you been besides work? Anything interesting going on?” she knew ella wasn’t one to sit still for very long. It always kept things interesting back in school.

Rosie seemed happy about Ella's work, it wasn't normal traditional work. The woman even offered to come whenever. "Should have it perfected in a few weeks." She smiled, happier to talk about her life now than any other time in her life. Though she lived primarily with her new circus family, she was happier than she had been before. Even if her father was livid with her choice. She didn't need him.
Ella wasn't sure what a normal job was like. She had gone to play pro quidditch right out of Hogwarts, and bailed shortly after her first game. She had almost literally ran away to join the circus, and life couldn't have been better. When asked how she was, her friend mentioned that she had been busy with work. Ella lived at the circus, and rarely considered it "work". But in a normal stand point, she almost constantly worked. She chuckled. "Better than being board."
Rosie helped herself to a fry as Ella stuffed her face. Swallowing some food she thought. She considered her normal life quite different than the average witch, so interesting to her was different than to her friend. She shrugged. "I ran into Mickey last month." She hadn't had much contact with any family, and Mickey, being her older brother, and quidditch star, was bound to be interesting.

Rosie could see the happiness radiate from Donatella’s expression when she talked about her work and her new life. It made her happy to see her friend so pleased in her life. Rosie admired that in her. She knew what she wanted to do and she had accomplished it. Rosie wondered if she’d ever feel that same feeling. She had always wanted to write, and here she was now, writing for the prophet, a sports reporter, the mixture of her two passions. And she was living in the city with Albus. It was wonderful, but she couldn’t help but feel like there was something missing. Something that hadn’t yet fallen into place.
Rosie looked up when she said she had run into her brother last weekend. She raised her eyebrows in surprise. Rosie was familiar with the man, they weren’t friends by any means, but as a sports reporter, she knew of most of the players. “Really? And how was that?” she asked.

Ella was quite proud of her life now. Her career was where her passion truly lie. She had given up, long ago, on making others happy by giving up on what she really wanted. Now, she would be one hundred percent authentic to herself. As such, Ella also made it a point to encourage her friends and family to do the same, should they exhibit some hesitance.
She mentioned seeing her brother, which had been an odd circumstance. She hadn't been close to anyone in her family in quite some time. It was both disappointing and happy. The girl shrugged. "Not as bad as it could have been. It was by total accident. I was just enjoying the muggle sites, and there he was. He bought me good, which wasn't cheap." She winked, then laughed. Ella was known for her massive appetite.
