Summer 2025
Ashley was definitely not sure what was going on. She knew that there was some sort of sickness around. After all, that's why Joe was stuck here watching her and their little brother. It was a nice thing, since it meant she got to spend more time with Eli, but also ... Ashley missed her parents. She missed seeing them and getting to spend the summer with them. It sort of felt like a vacation, but she'd never gone on one of those without her parents. So really she was just on babysitting duty while Joe went and worked in his restaurant. She didn't really mind, but it wasn't quite the summer she'd imagined. Especially now that she wasn't feeling well. Like, at all. Ashley wasn't sure what was going on, but the room was spinning and she was feeling a bit dizzy. So she'd spent the afternoon letting her little brother watch whatever he wanted while she tried to rest. Just until Joe got home. He'd know what to do. So she listened to stupid British cartoons, her brother's favorite thing to watch. When was Joe going to get back? @joseph

Joe had a great day at work. He loved when his long days felt productive and he didn't have to grind himself to the bone for 10 hours straight. He appreciated the slower days where he could get a break and create new treats and flavors for the menu. Lately, Joe considered himself more of a pastry chef. After the pastry chef quit, he was the only other person on staff that was good at making desserts. At first, he resented the fact, but he was beginning to find the entire process relaxing and more enjoyable than he liked to lead on to his coworkers. It wasn't as bad as he made it seem. Sometimes he just felt the need to keep the tough guy persona and it was a little more difficult while making a creme brûlée. One of the main perks was he smelt more like cinnamon sugar rather than garlic when he went home.
Before heading out the back door, he bagged up a pizza and some cannolis for his siblings who were supposed to be home tonight. It was only about a ten minute walk from work to their flat. He knew he could have found somewhere to apparate closer to home but Joe enjoyed walking around London every chance he got. Its charm almost reminded him of a wannabe New York.
Joe's keys jingled as he opened the front door and flicked on the light. Ashley was curled up on the sofa while their brother was on the opposite recliner crashed out sleeping. Stupid British cartoons blared on the television screen so he turned it down with a flick of the wrist. "I brought pizza and canolis." he greeted, dropping his backpack onto the counter and kicking off his shoes. Joe cocked his head to the side as he looked at Ash slumped on the couch, "You look like shit." he said harshly with a furrowed brow, not meant to be a diss, she actually looked sickly.
