Xantha didn't take the contact card, which he half expected, but it was still a kick in the face. It was clear that she didn't want anything to do with him after this encounter. But there was a part of him, deep down, that knew he'd probably see her again because she seemed troubled. He'd seen many girls like her in the days of his career. Xantha declined the help for the neighbor girl, pointing out there was nothing he could do without getting her killed. He nodded his head to show that he understood not to intervene. His expression faltered slightly at her question, "That is correct. But if you happen to acquire any evidence I can do much more. Well--You know where to find me now." he told her.
Zee hated this. He wished he could demand her to stay, demand her to take a ride home with him so he could learn more about her and her life. He'd have to earn that information if he wanted it. Xantha requested not to be followed or escorted out of the building and he nodded, "Gotcha." though he desperately he wanted to stop her.
The man stepped around his desk and sat down as she started for the door for her newfound freedom. "Stay out of trouble.." he said just before the door shut and he was closed off in his silent office. Xantha would be on his mind non stop until the next time he saw her. His heart suddenly felt heavy in his chest, he wished he could rewind what had happened and force her to stay. Zee knew he should have told her that he loved her, even if she believed it wasn't true.
@xantha [Zee out]
