overall personality:
Endlessly patient and stoically intolerant, Ivy is a young woman who should never be underestimated. Her sharp mind has never wavered, and she is thoughtful to a high degree. Each and every action she takes requires hours of contemplation, and is never done with an ounce of recklessness. Had she followed in the footsteps of the generation before her, Ivy would have been immediately sorted into Ravenclaw. Though she has no lack of ambition, her ready mind has always been her greatest asset.
Even from a young age, Ivy has been interested in knowing how things work. She’s got a creative streak that allows her to brainstorm easily, from fashion to magical theory. Though she has seemingly endless patience, Ivy cannot tolerate those who are unwilling to change. She is obsessed with her own magical heritage, as well as the source of magic for witches and wizards at large. Her distaste for muggles was cemented when she began transitioning from Isaiah to Ivy in her teens - none of her magical friends cared and most suspected her true identity, whilst the muggles and muggleborns turned their backs on her.
True anger is an unknown to Ivy, who prefers to mete out judgement using cool disappointment and disinterest. Perpetually calm and collective, Ivy knows the struggle of hiding her truth and believes that the world that they live in would be much better off with wizards at the helm. Ivy doesn’t realise that she can be perceived as closed minded and intolerant, both of which are true but to her own perception she has few faults besides the fact that she was born the wrong gender. Her lack of deep connections and friendships outside the wizarding world only cement the fact that she has always been a bit of an odd one.

history:
Isaiah Meadows was born to Dorian and Mallory, two Quidditch players who left Britain at the height of the second wizarding war in order to escape the drama of it all. Preferring to keep themselves, the best friends turned lovers migrated to Sydney, where they were both offered positions within the top tier of Quidditch. The pair had a son, Isaiah, not long after their move, and Mallory took a year off playing in order to raise her son. Unfortunately, this year off would turn perilous as anti-pureblood sentiment within Sydney as a result of the war in Britain (many lost family members) meant that Dorian and Mallory were killed in a protest when Isaiah was just over a year old.
Isaiah was taken into another family, a couple who had been struggling to conceive a second child looking for a pureblooded orphan. Isaiah fit the bill perfectly, and despite his darker skin, was loved and cherished by Helena and Caradoc. Isaiah had an older brother now, and a sister who was akin to a twin. Though Isaiah knew he was adopted, it did not change the family dynamic so keenly to move him to drastic measures.
Hazel and Isaiah were thick as thieves, often teaming up against their older brother despite the gender differences. Isaiah preferred spending time with Hazel as it were, as she was more open to discussing various fashion patterns and theorising about magic. The pair showed magical prowess at exactly the same time, on the very same day. Traditionally, the Burke family should have sent their children to Uagodou - but with the post-apartheid movement in South Africa, they deicded it would be safer to homeschool their patchwork little family.
From a young age, Isaiah showed a keen interest in understanding the way the world worked. He was also interested in what made magic work, diving eagerly into books and honing his clever mind to a deeper understanding of what made wizards so special. Isaiah rarely spent time outside his family, especially considering the backlash he received at shopping centres and when he was out and about. Not only was his skin darker than his family’s, but he also preferred feminine hobbies and activities - sketching and designing articles of clothing, particularly dresses, sewing together outfits for the family pet, and in general spending more time with his sister. This only seemed to matter to the muggles in the area, with the wizards connected to their family only caring that Isaiah was a wizard. That was a fact that would never change.
Isaiah grew disillusioned with muggle culture, as it so vehemently turned its back on him. He felt like he could only be himself when he was with his family, ensconced in the wizarding world. And when he made the decision to accept himself fully when he was fifteen, beginning the transition to a female the following year, it was the wizarding world that questioned nothing and the muggle world that shunned him. Isaiah - now Ivy, after the wood of the wand that he was gifted at the age of 11 - threw herself deeper into studying magical theory, trying to pinpoint the exact thing that separated the good from the bad - the magic folk from the muggles.
Ivy worked tirelessly at understanding magic and it’s source, eventually accepting a position to teach the subject at Hogwarts. She was then at the heart of the drama that her biological parents had (though unbeknownst to her) tried so hard to avoid. Elaine had been a good, clever student, and Ivy had always appreciated her thoughtfulness, though she didn’t exactly condone the murder of her fellow students. At least, not outwardly - for Ivy knew that if she hadn’t been a witch, she would have been hurt in the same exact way in the muggle world. Ivy doesn’t appreciate the death that seems to come at the hands of Elaine’s rise to power, despite the fact that other societies took credit for these deaths to keep Elaine’s nose clean. Ivy, clever as always, spoke to her former student about joining her cause, along with her sister and brother. After all, they had been blessed with magical gifts. And when a later student, Priscilla Rosier founded the Society for Preservation of Magical Heritage, Ivy was delighted to be able to groom students into knowing that magical power was a blessing, and should be preserved at all costs.
