February 1, 2026 @blair
Maria had been a bit… out of sorts. The last month had been brutal in terms of morning sickness, something she’d never have thought would ever happen to her. Despite her fairly… promiscuous lifestyle she’d always been good about birth control and other protection. She’d never actually believed she’d get pregnant. Especially not with Rhys’ child. That was a bit of a rabbit hole she preferred not to think about.
She’d tried to keep the people that knew very low. While she didn’t stop Rhys from telling people, or cared who he told, she’d only really told one or two people. Mostly because she just didn’t know how to bring it up, especially with the type of people in her life.
Today she’d had to go to an apothecary. Usually Rhys handled getting her anti nausea potions since he had better apothecary connections then her, but considering the date she doubted he’d be much use today. No doubt he was drinking heavily in anticipation of the full moon and would be too cranky for her to want to deal with. Most the time the impending full moon meant a lot of wild, unrestrained sex, but the day of? Rhys usually disappeared. And it was a good thing today as Maria felt like absolute shit and didn’t want to deal with his attitude.
So, she’d left her apartment and went to one of the apothecaries the healers at the hospital had recommended. After she downed one of the potions she’d purchased, hoping it would kick in soon. While she waited she sat at a bench leaning forward with her head in her hands. Ugh, she just hated how horrible the morning sickness was. Thankfully the healers had told her it would pass soon… but she didn’t like that idea to much because it meant she was about to hit the second trimester and could start showing at any time… Maria was a vain person so the change to her body was very much dreaded.
That was when her phone buzzed. She sat up with a sigh, digging her phone out and glancing at it. To her surprise it wasn’t from the cranky werewolf, complaining about something random. Instead it was from Blair. Ah, Blair. The younger girl from America. What had been a one night stand had turned into a more consistent fling. Surprisingly, Maria found that she enjoyed the American’s company. Plus, Blair never complained no matter what Maria did. God, now that made her realize how awkward her current predicament was. Blair obviously didn’t know about the pregnancy, though there was no way she could hide it for much longer. With another sigh she texted back, then stood up. Immediately she headed home, where she’d told Blair in her responding text she was.
She got home before Blair arrived, which was ideal. Immediately Maria hid the bag of anti nausea Potions in a cupboard. She turned to eye the apartment, noticing just in time the paperwork from St.Mungos. She was moving to it when the doorbell rang. Shit. She grabbed the papers and stuffed them in the drawer of the coffee table.
Sure she’d hidden them pregnancy related items she moved to the door and finally opened up, smiling at Blair. ”Hi stranger.”

February 1, 2026 It had been a little while since Blair had last spent time with Maria, but it wasn't hard for her to find her way back to her. Maria was like a magnet for her; she couldn't really stay away from her before too long. The dynamic that they had with one another was different from anything that she had experienced with anyone else, Blair felt, and there were definitely times when she craved being with her. At the same time, she knew that she wasn't the only person in Maria's life, and that made her question herself. She loved the rush of it all and the spontaneity, and she wanted it to herself.
After having texted Maria and agreeing to meet up at her place, Blair arrived to Maria's answering the door. She teased her about being a stranger, though a smile crept across Blair's face. She didn't know what had kept her away from Maria, especially not when she saw that she looked as beautiful as she ever had.
"Hey," she replied to Maria's greeting, resting her arm against the frame of her door. "It's, uh, been a minute," she noted, though it wasn't intentional. If Blair had had it her way, she would have spent more time with Maria. Really, she would have spent time with her constantly if she could have. It sounded too desperate to say that she'd missed her, but she had. Everything about her was alluring, though Blair noticed that Maria had stopped short of pressing her up against the wall right then and there.

It truly had been a while since Maria had hooked up with Blair, thought not for lack of interest. Maria had just been rather consumed by... well everything going on in her life. Surprisingly, now that she thought about it, Maria had been seeing surprisingly few people since discovering her pregnancy, so it wasn't just Blair that had been affected by the development. THough Blair was someone that Maria had realized she didn't just like sleeping with, but someone she genuinely enjoyed the company of. Blair just rolled with whatever insanity Maria was up to, no questions or judgement. it was nice, as everyone else in her life either joined her antics (such as Emrys) or tried to stop her/called her insane (Rhys). A totally neutral party such as Blair was a nice change.
Blair nonchalantly leaned against the doorframe and it made Maria's smile widen a little. "It has, where have you been hiding?" She answered, though silently knew she was the one that had been 'hiding'. She finally reached out, taking Blair other hand and pulling her into the flat and closing the door behind them. Shit, this would be the part where Maria poured them both drinks, but Maria wasn't allowed to drink. Rhys had given her some nasty zero proof alcohol substitute for Christmas. Probably as a joke, but she'd still been drinking it regardless. It didn't help with the urge to drink really, but the taste was close enough that sometimes she could convince herself. "Make yourself at home, do you want anything?" She finally asked, hoping it would help make herself seem more normal to Blair.

February 1, 2026 Maria acknowledged that it had been a minute and asked her where she had been hiding, though Blair felt that she could have said the same about her. It wasn't as though either one of them had been trying to text or call the other to no response, as far as Blair knew. Simply, neither one of them had sought the other out, but it was something that wasn't either of their faults, really. It was just life that had gotten in their way.
Being pulled inside Maria's flat, Blair smiled, though that also wasn't the moment at which Maria decided to kiss her or to dig her fingernails into her skin, as she might have done before. Still, she told her to make herself at home and asked if she wanted anything. Blair shook her head, brushing her hand against Maria's shoulder but holding back from doing anything more until she knew something for certain.
"Just you," she answered Maria, not wanting to impose upon her but also wanting to be honest about why she was there. "I mean…" Blair paused, not sure how else to bring it up but not wanting to waste Maria's time otherwise. "We're still— We're cool, right?" she checked, never having seen Maria so toned-down in her demeanor. Granted, they were usually together when there was already alcohol or supercharged feelings thrown into the mix. It was probably nothing. "If there's somebody else you're supposed to be seeing or you're not in the mood…" She didn't think that Maria would have answered her texts or invited her over if they weren't cool, but she also knew how unpredictable Maria could be.

Since meeting Blair had become more comfortable reaching for Maria. That first night Maria had been the one initiating everything. Today though Blair took the initiative to reach out, her hand brushing Maria's shoulder and humbling answering Maria's question with a "just you". Despite how awful Maria had been feeling that seemed to light a spark and Maria couldn't help the slow smirk that spread across her lips. Blair spoke against after a moment, hesitating a little before finishing her words. Blair just have been worried about their fling. Blair kept speaking though, and Maria found herself not caring. Because Blair had already said the right thing to capture her attention. Maria moved closer, pushing Blair back until Blair was against the door. "Is that your way of saying you've missed me?" She asked slowly with a hint of amusement.
Maria reached out, catching a strand of Blair's hair between her fingers and twirling it between her fingers. "Or were you afraid I'd forgotten about you..?" She couldn't help but tease the younger girl to see how Blair might react. Blair's words had made her realize that she was acting rather... docile. But maybe that would be fun. She was, after all, an unpredictable person. Why not continue being unpredictable?

Maria smirked at her and ultimately pushed her up against the door. "Is that your way of saying you've missed me?" she asked.
Blair didn't want to say it out loud, but she had missed Maria, and being so close to her physically reminded her of just how amazing being with her really was. Especially as Maria played with a piece of her hair, Blair was entranced again.
"Or were you afraid I'd forgotten about you…?"
While Blair wasn't sure (and didn't know if it really mattered) who had done the ghosting and who had been the ghosted one, it was nice to know that Maria clearly hadn't forgotten about her. "I'm glad you didn't," she replied to Maria softly. "So, uh, I guess this means we're cool, right?" She smiled and moved to press her lips against Maria's, unable to help herself from kissing her. It was like nothing had changed between them, wasn't it?

Blair didn't say anything initially, just let Maria toy with her, it seemed. Teasing the girl and just going along with it. Blair was always on the submissive side. It made her smirk a little more, that lock of hair now twirled tightly around Maria's finger. Maria's eyes slowly trailed from Blair's own, taking in every feature as they stood so close. It had been quite a while since Maria had seen Blair. Being this close.... Maria realized that she had come to miss Blair. If Maria was fire Blair was like the cool, calm ocean. Such a contrast but... refreshing.
Finally though, Blair spoke and Maria's eyes moved back up to meet Blair's gaze. "I'd never," she breathed, that smirk returning as Blair questioned, again, if they "were cool". Before she got a chance to respond though, Blair was kissing her. Immediately Maria responded in kind, moving her lips against Blairs as her free hand moved to the back of Blair's neck. It'd been far to long since Maria had kissed someone, so she relished the feel of another body against her own, lips pressed against hers. The warmth of another person. So, in usual Maria fashion, she pushed even harder into the kiss, staking her claim. Before finally breaking it. She didn't pull away though. "Does that answer your question?"

Even though Maria had seemed a bit distant initially, she wasn't hesitant as they kissed. It was as passionate as ever, and as Maria pulled away, she asked if her reaction answered her question about whether or not they were cool. Blair, still slightly shocked by the kiss, nodded her head slowly and pressed her lips together. "F**k," she murmured, wrapping her arms around Maria.
It was cheesy to get all sentimental and say that she missed her, but being with her was so simple. It was really like a magnet, Blair thought, already savoring the reminder of Maria's lips against hers. From what Maria had told her, anyway, it sounded like she hadn't really forgotten about her. "You're so beautiful… You know that?" Blair whispered, though she knew Maria got that all the time. "I missed this… F**k, I missed you…"

Maria liked the way Blair always seemed to be taken back by her, as if always forgetting how forceful Maria could be. Though to be honest Maria was being quite tame currently. But still, it managed to surprise the younger girl and Maria found herself grinning at that mumbled reaction. Maria shifted just a little, so Blair could easily wrap her arms around her. Maria unraveled the lock of Blair's hair that had been wrapped around her finger so that she could brush the hair off Blair's shoulder, her head tilting to the side just a little as her gaze dropped once more.
Maria stilled as Blair spoke again, though her eyes quickly returned to Blair's own, meeting her gaze. Blair was always so quick to compliment, another trait Maria liked. It wasn't news to her, being as vain as she was Maria was well aware of her physical appearance and was extremely over confident about it. But the way Blair said it always seemed to be more then just an idle compliment. Maria didn't speak though, her gaze steady on Blair's as the girl admitted missing Maria. Maria was not one to admit that same sentiment aloud, no matter how she felt. But she was one to act on it. Both her hands were now at the back of Blair's neck as she pressed her lips hard against Blair's. It was an aggressive and possessive kiss. Maria moved pushed into Blair, finally fully pinning her against the door as she kissed her. Only when Maria was satisfied did she break the kiss, but she didn't pull away. "How much?"

"How much?"
Enough that she almost regretted the fact that Maria had her pinned up against the door then, Blair thought, because she happily would have done other things with her hands. She didn't mind another kiss, though—not in the slightest. The awkwardness between them from having been apart for a couple of months had faded, and Blair was back to being putty in Maria's hands.
"Do you want me to tell you or show you?" she whispered to Maria, unable to resist teasing her just a little. Either worked, though Blair preferred the idea of the latter, herself. A little action wouldn't have been bad. Even if she hadn't been seeing Maria exclusively, there was a reason why she had come back to her. "Or you could just tell me what you want me to do," she offered. "I mean, we could smoke up first, or…?"

While Maria hadn't actually been much in the mood for... fun... Blair was definitely lighting that spark and bringing it out of her. Maria wasn't one to say no, either. Nor was she one to turn away from the opportunity to make someone beg a little. She was too controlling. She enjoyed seeing people dance to her whims. And she definitely loved seeing how Blair reacted...
Maria grinned at Blair's whispered response. Would Blair show her? Perhaps that could be interesting, giving Blair control for once to see what Blair did with it. Though that grin disappeared almost as quickly as it had appeared at the word "smoke". Because that was one of the things she couldn't have right now. It seemed to bring Maria back to reality, and particularly her... predicament. And for perhaps the first time in her life, Maria felt incredibly self conscious at their closeness. Maria didn't feel like she was showing yet, but what if Blair could tell?
Maria finally pulled away from Blair, she let out a slow breath and ran a hand through her hair. Well, this had just gotten unintentionally quite complicated, as there was no hiding her own reaction. No doubt Blair would think she'd done something wrong. If she had to say it... Might as well get it over with. "We should probably talk about that." she started, stepping further away and heading towards the living room, motioning over her shoulder for Blair to follow. She didn't continue speaking until she sat on the couch. "I'm not allowed to smoke right now. Or drink." She explained. She didn't say why. But there were few reasons that would ban you from drinking or smoking.

At the offer of smoking before they ended up engaged in other activities, Maria pulled back and seemed to revert back to being a little bit more tense. She ran her hand through her hair and walked over towards the living room, motioning for her to follow as she said that they needed to talk. The sudden switch caught Blair by surprise in a different way than the kisses had, but she nodded her head and followed Maria as she sat down.
Blair, too, sat down upon Maria's couch, placing herself next to Maria and biting down upon her lip in thought. What was going on that was suddenly so urgent that they had to stop what they were doing?
"I'm not allowed to smoke right now," Maria explained. "Or drink."
Knowing that Maria wasn't likely to have quit substances so randomly, though it had been a few months, Blair's mind went to a different possibility. It seemed improbable, though it had been long enough since they had last seen each other that she couldn't rule it out. Cautiously, she looked to Maria, breathing out. If Maria was saying what she thought she was saying, there was only one way to be certain of it. As much as she didn't want to, Blair knew that she needed to get a straight answer from her.
"Maria," she murmured, wondering if Maria's excitement to see her had been only a short-lived burst of passion. It mattered that she knew the answer if they were going to be intimate with one another, regardless, so she hoped that Maria wouldn't take offense to the suggestion. She was either completely sober, Blair thought, or she was pregnant. The idea was more than slightly overwhelming to her, but Blair couldn't imagine how much more jarring it had been for Maria. With the lifestyle that she knew Maria had led—not that she saw anything wrong with it—it must have been a shock. "Please don't get mad at me," Blair asked of her, moving closer to Maria and taking her hand so that Maria knew that it wasn't something that she was going to get angry with her over if it turned out to be true. "But are you… pregnant?" Blair took in a breath then, hoping that Maria was at least doing well physically and mentally. "Is, uh… Is that why it's been forever since we last hooked up?"

Maria didn't understand why she wanted to tell Blair. Why she wanted to admit probably the biggest "scandal" and shame of her life. That she was pregnant. But yet... she did. While quite different Blair reminded Maria of Viola. Just not quite as headstrong. Someone that made her want to open up and discus her.... feelings (as horrible as that sounded). It was different though. While Viola had just dragged it out of Maria by force, Blair was just there and Maria felt this overwhelming urge to get a reaction, any reaction out of Blair. No matter what it took. Even if it meant being overwhelmingly honest, which was a foreign concept to Maria. She wasn't a straight forward or honest person most of the time. She tended to keep her secrets to herself.... Well hidden and masked behind her flamboyant and aggressive personality.
So when Blair muttered her name, Maria found her attention immediately raptured by the younger woman, hanging on every word even though it took seemingly eternity to finally get out the full question. It didn't take long for Blair to make the connection though. There were few things that would prevent a person from smoking or drinking... Especially a woman.
Especially a woman like Maria, who lived for the thrive of life.
When Blair finally made the connection and vocalized those words... Maria let out a breath she didn't know she was holding. Blair was the first person Maria was telling about the pregnancy. She didn't care if Rhys told anyone, but Maria herself was a fairly private person. She was very slow and very guarded when it came to her secrets and she considered her pregnancy once of those. But it wasn't one she knew she could keep long. She leaned her head back onto the back of the couch as Blair spoke the question, her eyes closed. Was she pregnant. Not intentionally... and Yet? Here she was. She felt Blair take her hand and she squeezed Blair's hand without even thinking about it. She didn't open her eyes as her head leaned back against the top of the couch cushions. "Ironic, isn't it?" she muttered softly "Who'd ever want me as a parent?" she finished. She didn't deny it. She was pregnant. And yet, she couldn't' bring herself to say the word aloud. But her words were enough confirmation. Was it selfish to not have an abortion? Neither she or the father were parenting types after all... How the hell were they supposed to raise a Child?
Maria's melancholy seemed to end and she came back to reality. She opened her eyes, raising her head to finally look at Blair. "I'm sorry." Wait, why was she apologizing to Blair?

February 1, 2026 "Ironic, isn't it? Who'd ever want me as a parent?"
As much as it wasn't her business what Maria did with her body, Blair was hesitant. Did she plan on going through with the pregnancy? Keeping the baby? Unless Maria were to volunteer more information about what had happened, Blair knew not to pry. Knowing Maria's lifestyle, she doubted that it had been planned. She was concerned, too, because there was a chance that the encounter that had led to her pregnancy hadn't been consensual, but she didn't feel comfortable asking that question outright. Besides, she didn't need to know every detail to know that her feelings for Maria hadn't changed.
It was a shock, but she was glad that Maria had told her. It was reassuring, too, to know that she had told her, instead of just ghosting her and waiting for her to find out on her own. Still, Blair wavered, trying to gauge how Maria was feeling about it.
From her perspective, there wasn't anything wrong with Maria's being pregnant, in itself. As long as she was comfortable with anything that they did, that was what mattered, and she was usually the one to take the lead. If she wasn't feeling up to something, they could get creative. Blair didn't mind. Just being in Maria's presence again was enough. She didn't mind the thought of simply cuddling with her, either.
Blair knew that Maria wasn't one for vulnerability. The older girl had a hard exterior, even relative to her own, but it must have been jarring to learn that she was pregnant. She couldn't have been that heavily pregnant yet; she didn't look it. Though Blair couldn't even begin to imagine what it must have felt like to be in Maria's shoes, she wanted to do whatever she could to make things easier on her. She didn't want to bombard her with her concerns, especially not as Maria apologized to her.
Instead, she held tight to Maria's hand, giving it a squeeze in return. No matter what was going on, she wanted Maria to know that she was still there for her, whatever she needed from her. "It's okay. We're good. I've got you. Whatever you're choosing to do, I'm here," she reassured her, not wanting Maria to feel that she had to explain herself. "Just… tell me what you want me to do, okay?" she added, and she gave Maria a small smile. "You're still in control, babe." She didn't want to screw up anything, especially if Maria wanted her around.

Maria's gaze didn't waver as she stared intensely at Blair. Waiting for the fall out. For Blair to leave after hearing Maria was pregnant. Her words hadn't mentioned anything about an abortion after all. Nor was she even considering it. She wasnt' the parenting type but she didn't want this child... HER child to be let down the same way she was.
So while she was waiting for the fallout? It seemed Blair had another surprise up her sleeve. Blair didn't pull away. Instead, returning Maria's tight grip in their hand hold. How the hell did a simple hand hold convey so much emotion? Because it was at that moment, as Blair spoke, and returned the firm hand hold, that Maria realized. Oh god did she realize. This wasn't just a fling.
Before she even realized, she was moving. She let go of Blair's hand and wrapped her arms around Blair's waist, burying her face in the other girl's shoulder. "Just... stay." she breathed without thinking. Without letting her fears and doubts get in the way for once. "Stay, please. I'm not in control. I'm terrified. But you... You bring me back down to reality." What was she seven saying? And yet, she didn't release Blair, clinging tightly to her as the emotions finally surfaced. The terror, the anxiety, the anger, everything was coming out at once. But everything seemed like it'd be okay if she clung onto Blair.
