She had not been expecting an owl this evening.
She hadn't sent a letter to anyone in a couple of weeks actually.
Or well hadn't sent anything to anyone to be honest.
And so why was she getting one now? Her parents were not the mushy kind of parents (something that she did not take offense in believe me). They didn't send owls unless there was a reason to send owls--and of course those reasons usually amounted to either something major happening or her getting into trouble. She wasn't sure what was the case of the mysterious package this evening and so she had approached it with caution. When it didn't explode, burn or any of those weird random things that packages have been known to do--it was then and only then she grabbed it and kept it by her side until she finished with dinner. She was a very private being and never opened any packages or letters at the great hall. Lest someone got too nosy and then she just may have had to have gotten pushy. And no one wanted her to get pushy -- believe me.
Dinner was done. And so off she went to her room. She would be lying if she said she wasn't curious as to what this envelope entailed. It was more then just a letter--she could tell by the weight of it alone. And her curiosity was pricked. She waited till she was in her dorm, waited till it was bedtime...waited until everyone was asleep in the dorm and waited until she knew that she was alone before opening the letter. She read it and within moments she knew exactly who it was from. Only one person could have written to her like this.
Rudolf Lestrange.
A small smirk appeared on her face as she thought about the other. He was definitely one of those special people in her life. Someone she trusted. Really trusted. He knew what she was up to and helped her out in any way he could. He had no qualms about it and didn't ask questions about anything either. And he didn't get in her way to boot. He was most definitely one of the players in this book. Not the top player (of course not cause she held that honor) but a player nonetheless.
It was then she saw the mirror and her head tilted to the side. A mirror? What in the heck?! He sends her a mirror?! He said they could talk through it but still--a mirror? Couldn't he have charmed something else!? I mean seriously?! But clearly he wanted to talk to her if he sent her this thing. Maybe he had ideas--had plans...hmm reason enough for her to want to test the mirror out as it were. But where? She wanted to be alone..clearly. No one needed to overhear her conversations thank you. Sure they were all asleep but that didn't mean anything.
And so off she went. Again past curfew but again she did not care. With a disillusionment charm cast she headed out of the common room and upstairs. She knew exactly where she was going. The owlery. It was the perfect place to be alone. No one was going up there at this time of night. And plus--owls didn't talk. And so she walked, she kept quiet, hid when she had to and got to where she wanted to go without any incident. She walked to the corner--petting an owl here or there as it cawed at her. She shushed them quickly and the birds seemed to fear her just as much as some people did. And they all quieted down quickly.
She sat near the window and raised the mirror up to the moonlight. Hmm...how was this thing supposed to even work? She wasn't terribly sure but here went nothing.
"Rolf? Rolf are you there? Hello? Is this thing working? "
