Luna lounged against the window, tuning out the hum of conversation between her siblings. The school year had just ended, and they were on the train home from Hogwarts. It had been another boring year, thought Luna. So many people were uninteresting. And there had been no spots on the Quidditch team, which meant Luna had had to watch from the sidelines. The inter-house Quidditch cup was not quite as thrilling as watching the Chudley Cannons lose time and time again, but she supposed it would have to do.
The train chugged along, with wild thickets morphing into purplish moors and green and yellow farmland. Luna stared out the window, but she was unseeing. At long last, the train slowed to a rumble, and the fields gave way to grey buildings and bleak streets. The same as usual. However, that quickly changed as the train came to an abrupt stop, toppling luggage and jostling students out of their seats. Confusion and questions rose about in the corridor, as one of her sisters slid open the door to their compartment. But Luna wasn’t paying attention to the rising terror and confusion within the train. Her entire body went slack, and she was no longer in the carriage.
Luna didn’t know where she was at first, but quickly realised she was in Kings Cross and she was wearing a thick mask. She didn’t have control over the body that she was in either. She was helpless as she realised what was happening - destruction and chaos as bombs went off within the station, intent on destroying the witches and wizards of tomorrow. Screams echoed throughout the domed station, bodies flung around, bathed in blood. Luna wanted to scream, but she couldn’t. She could only watch, taking in the destruction that she had helped cause. A maniacal shout of laughter escaped her lips and then she was running, glee rushing through her, shaking, shaking…
Blinking, Luna sat up at once. Her siblings crowded around her, looking concerned. It was then that Luna realised she’d had a waking vision - usually she was only visited by these disturbing images in her sleep. She was shaking violently, and felt the urge to be sick. ”Kings Cross… it’s been attacked,” she breathed, gulping down fresh air as she did so. ”That’s why we’ve stopped,” she continued, and someone shoved a bottle of water into her hand. Luna gulped it down greedily, grateful that the train had stopped and for today, their lives had been spared.
