MADAM MALKIN'S WAS QUIET DURING THE school year. A bare, skeleton staff who all preened at the mention of a wedding. Ondina recalled her time at the tailor shop many years before, standing tall to be poked by a crotchety seamstress with a cruel hand for pins. It was different now that she was older. Though she much preferred when she was the centre of attention, some tasks had to be done in preparation. Like, for instance, taking Renard's bratty little sister to be fitted for a dress.

The distaste was plain on her face as she stood outside of the shoppe, a hand at the watch on her wrist, foot tapping incessantly. When she finally seen Bryelle's tall frame crossing the street towards her she heaved a sigh. "Our appointment was for 12 sharp." She snapped in greeting, bending her head to glare in to Bryelle's pointed face. "I expected you here at 12 sharp, at least." Enunciating her words in irritation. Her fingers pinched to drive home her point. Bryelle was taller than her, but Ondina never left the house without a heel. She'd worn them extra high for this particular purpose.

"Inside." She wrenched open the door, the clock above the register reading 4 minutes past the hour as they were met with a clapping hand and a cheerful. "Ah, perfect timing - come, come!" They were moved towards the back of the room. Ondina had no interest in Bryelle, in fact her existence was more of a nuisance than anything else. However, she did not trust the girl to adhere to Ondina's strict rules for the upcoming nuptials. Everything had to be perfect. Bryelle was a liability.

WHEN RENARD FIRST ANNOUNCED HE would be marrying the devil, Bryelle felt like she had died on the spot. Sure, she wanted to see her miserable brother happy with someone in the near future but Ondina Weasley was the last person she would have expected. The younger Goyle truthfully knew very little of the Weasley, except of the various stories Renard would tell or even the rumours that surrounded Hogwarts since Ondina graduated. But now that Renard was getting married, and Bryelle's 7th year was almost coming to an end, it meant that the younger Goyle would have less of a chance or even less time to visit Renard and stay over at his apartment, especially since his fiancé would be there also.

Though after some begging from her older brother to get along with the bitc-witch, Bryelle sighed as she walked in the direction where Madam's Malkin's store was. Crossing the street as she approached the store, the Goyle's expressions turned upwards at the sight of Ondina near the door, her foot tapping - an indication that Bryelle was definitely late. She had tried her best to be on time but seemingly asking for some time outside of Hogwarts was kind of difficult, even if it was family related. "Whatever." The brunette responded, lifting a hand to wave un-amusingly.

Bryelle had no interest in being fitted for a dress, as truthfully she would rather skip her brother's wedding than be caught in shame by attending. As the two of them were escorted to the back of the room, Bryelle's eyes barely had time to skim across the various items and options within the store before the Goyle let out another sigh. "Do I really need to be here?" She questioned, feeling rather uncomfortable as her measurements were being taken, arms tugged on to stretch out for the skeleton staff to check more measurements. "Surely you don't even want me there." The Gryffindor added, lips twitching upwards to form a sly smile.

A PIT OF BITTER ANGER WAS FORMING AT THE back of Ondina's throat. She cleared it twice, her skin prickling and itchy as the hours passed between her potion doses. She would not lose her cool at a simple dress fitting, that was a level of mortification of which she could not recover. However, with a rat-faced underling nipping at her heels, she could feel her resolve thinning. The sound of her careless voice like nails on an old chalkboard.

Ondina cleared her throat once more as they were ushered into the back of the fitting rooms by an enthusiastic seamstress. There was a scream lurking at the back of her lungs, the faint memory of tightness in her chest, lightened by an array of foreign chemicals brewed illegally and consumed regardless. Ondina focused on the decadent fabrics, enjoying the swathes of silk and velvet on rolls instead of focusing on the back of Bryelle's incredibly cave-able head. The seamstress strolled forward to gather supplies and Bryelle spoke in her typical bored drivel.

"Do you want to wear a dress with my engagement photo on it?" Ondina countered, watching with a sneering satisfaction as Bryelle was brusquely guided onto a platform to be measured and prodded at. "Don't ruin this for me." Ondina warned her with a large, face-splitting smile, eyes creasing as the seamstress cast her a long look from over Bryelle's shoulder, a floating tape measure shivering as it unrolled over her silhouette impatiently.

Crossing her arms, Ondina let her eyes wander, looking for familiarity among the racks of dresses. "I wouldn't presume anything about me, if I were you." Ondina's mouth pursed, hair drifting over her shoulders as she narrowed her eyes at a rack of green dresses in various shades. "I never go anywhere I don't want to." She added, sending a sharp, derisive look at Bryelle as she did. "Although, the company could certainly be better." At that, the tape measure seemed to snap back into a roll on cue. "I'll just go collect the sample dresses from the designs you sent over, Miss." A short bow of her head before she scuttled out of the room, and away from the draping tension within it.

THE SOUND OF ONDINA CLEARING her throat felt like chipped chalk against a blackboard. Horrific and fucking irritating. Bryelle felt the need to hold back her tongue however, considering she had already noticed that Ondina wasn't in the best of moods. Especially since she was late. The younger Goyle had heard some warnings from Renard, one detailing that Ondina disliked tardiness or lack of punctuality but...Bryelle disliked the Weasley. So why did it matter to Bryelle that she should be aware of some details? (It didn't).

As Bryelle and Ondina were guided further into the store towards the fitting rooms, the Goyle mentally groaned at the enthusiasm of the clerk that was helping them. It was evident that the tension between the Gryffindor and the bitch-sister-to-be could be sliced with a knife, but Bryelle simply assumed the clerk would continue to ignore it. As Ondina cleared her throat once more, the brunette's eyes closed as she refrained from saying something, and instead her brows furrowed together at Ondina's counter. "I just wouldn't turn up." She muttered, knowing that it probably wouldn't of bothered Renard anyway. No matter who her older brother tried to fool, Bryelle had a feeling deep within him that the marriage between him and Ondina had other reasons besides genuine love. She wasn't sure Ondina could love anything anyway.

As the seamstress moved, a tape measure unrolling to work out Bryelle's measurements, the Goyle remained quiet, looking over her shoulder as Ondina looked at the dresses upon the rack, barely listening to a word she was saying. "The same could be said about you.." She added in a quiet mutter. If Bryelle was ever offered Galleons in order to hang out or spend time with Ondina ever again, she would rather be injured from the Whomping Willow instead.

Although the choice of colour from the dresses was seemingly funny to the younger Goyle, especially since both her and Renard had fallen out of the typical Slytherin-Goyle line. She knew Ondina was housed into Slytherin also, and with the formers choice of words, it made a lot of sense as to why. "Green?" Bryelle decided to ask as the seamstress made her way out of the fitting room. It was a fair guess to assume that Ondina wanted a consistent colour theme. "Am I not too pale for it?" She added, feigning concern momentarily before a grin swept across her face.

THE REALITY WAS ONDINA HAD DEALT WITH enough careless little rats in her life, the littlest Goyle was nothing. Or at least, was regarded as such. Ondina had no time to pander to her suspicious sneering. She didn't want to try on a dress, she didn't want to go to the wedding. Ondina didn't care. She just wanted to be married. The relations of the groom were nothing but a stepping stone to a ring on her finger. And a life of relative comfort in his lovely, lavish little flat. It was a good thing Renard was a gaudy little prick, she thought, or it mightn't have been worth it.

"Then don't..." Ondina drawled, leaning down to meet Bryelle's sly, narrowed eyes. She wouldn't be threatened by a narrow pole of haughty self entitlement. "But just know..." Ondina widened her eyes, as if to sear Bryelle into place so that she might listen closely. "When they ask me where you are, I will cry..." She grinned slowly. "I will be the picture of angelic devastation." The smile disappeared as quickly as it came. "And you will forever be known as the selfish, mean, thoughtless little bitch that we both know you are." She clasped her hands in front of her and leaned back, diverting her attention as if she hadn't said anything at all.

In another world, Ondina might have admired Bryelle's keen observations. In this one, however, she just found them dreadfully inconvenient. Ondina let her mutter under her breath, uninterested in what she had to say unless she was saying it with her whole chest. She was more concerned with the sampled fittings that were brought into the room with flourish, Ondina diverted her attention immediately. Striding to the seamstresses side so that she might rub the fine fabrics between her thumb and forefinger delicately. Fine, delicately woven silk. It spilled like ink from the hanger and over the woman's arm. Ondina took it from her carefully, "You can leave us." She said, starry eyed.

Once the room was quiet again, Ondina whirled on Bryelle with a searing glare. "It's not just green," She hissed, holding the fabric close to her chest. "It's emerald." Slowly, she closed the space between them until they were almost standing toe-to-toe. "You're not too pale." She groused, nose wrinkled. "You're porcelain," Ondina tilted her head in calculating thought. "In a dress this colour, you might even be called beautiful." There was a dreamy quality to Ondina's voice them, lost in the ideal where everything she manufactured was utterly perfect. Shaking herself free she sighed heavily, "It's a shame that's probably all you are." She tutted, holding the dress out expectantly before pointing at the curtained fitting room.

AS APPEALING AS IT SOUNDED, the idea of not turning up to her only brothers wedding was far out of the window. She knew not only would her parents complain for months or even years on end, the youngest Goyle didn't want to disappoint her brother also. She had no idea of the kind of thoughts that ran through Renard's brain when he even considered proposing to Ondina but Bryelle knew he had some sort of idea. Whether it was for tax purposes or just a well thought out plan...She truly didn't know.

Grimacing as Ondina responded, stating she would be the picture of 'angelic devastation', Bryelle rolled her eyes then. "I can't be more of a bitch than you though. You've already filled all the space available for that category." She retorted, flashing a smile. "Unfortunately, I'll be there to actually support my clueless brother. That and I don't need our parents nagging me about it. But I'm sure you'll grow to love your in-laws right?"

Feeling a lecture coming on from Ondina's side, the younger Goyle soon grew to regret her choice of words. To Bryelle, the colour was simply green. A pretty shade of green, but green still nevertheless. But as Ondina hissed away, responding back, Bryelle felt her lips draw into a slight thin line once the space between the two of them slowly closed. "Porcelain..pale..aren't they similar terms?" She found herself asking before tutting at the additional comment. While she wanted to argue and seemingly insult her back, Bryelle knew that it wouldn't change anything anyway. Ondina was an asshole and seemingly..a part of her family now. She would just have to deal with it.

Taking the dress from Ondina's hands with a sigh, Bryelle headed to the fitting room and with a quick huff, pulled at the curtain to clam it shut. Working out of her own clothes then, Bryelle carefully worked her way onto putting on the dress, knowing that the dragon in the room would have killed her if she didn't take enough care of it.

THERE WAS NO ROOM OR NEED FOR ONDINA TO take Bryelle's barbs to heart. As if she'd never been called a bitch before, it was practically a compliment to her. She rolled her eyes, tutting at the childishness of it all and waving a dismissive hand. "Oh, please..." She sniffed, a smirk curling the corner of her mouth. "It's not a category, sweetie." She simply couldn't help the humour that lit up her eyes as she continued, "It's a state of mind."

Admitting that she would in fact be attending, Ondina felt an angry little twist in her stomach undo. Let her hate every moment of it, as long as she was there. Ondina had no intention of spending her entire wedding fielding questions about the missing spawn Renard was oh-so protective of. It would cast the whole affair into doubt. She did not tell Bryelle this. Instead, she simply shrugged. "I don't expect to see much of your boulder-headed parents." Her nose scrunched in disgust. "At least, not before they're dead."

Turning her focus entirely to the emerald dress, Ondina appeared to moon over it as she held it gently. Holding up the hanger and flickering her gaze from Bryelle to the slim cut design, as if comparing the two. Of course, if she were, the dress would win every time. "No." She said firmly, judgement searing her gaze as she watched Bryelle sulk miserably. "Porcelain is fine and delicately made." She explained, as if speaking down to a child. "Pale is sickly, bloodless, ugly." She raised her brows and tilted her head, "Are you ugly?" She asked without expecting an answer, passing the dress off and shooing her into the fitting room.

Crossing her arms, Ondina tapped her heel restlessly as she waited. Bryelle's shuffling behind the curtain raising her ire the longer she left Ondina to wait. "Are you sewing yourself into it?" She called out with a scoff, nails digging briefly into her arms as she sighed and let them fall. When she exited, Ondina stopped, her mouth closing and her head tilting as she examined the cut. It was a little big, the silk fabric falling shapelessly. The colour, however, was perfect. Moving closer she put a cold hand on Bryelle's shoulder and turned her manually to the full length mirror, standing behind her as she pulled at the thin straps.

"It needs fitted, obviously." She muttered to herself, reaching down to pinch a fingers worth of fabric on either side of Bryelle's waist to cinch it back and examine the way it fit. "Maybe a thicker strap... off the shoulder..." Bryelle had fine, bird-like collarbones and a long neck. She wasn't ugly by any means, but Ondina wouldn't settle for anything less than perfect. "I like the colour... the colour is perfect." It would off-set Ondina's flaming red hair, standing out in photographs against her stark white dress.

NOT BOTHERED TO FIND EVEN a snarky reply for her future sister-in-law, Bryelle went off anyway, listening to what the bitch had to say. Regarding their parents, it would be a lie if the Goyle didn't admit that she couldn't help but stand there with her mouth agape. She knew, absolutely knew from the tip of Merlin's wand that Ondina was something made out of the cruelest pits of hell, but even Bryelle didn't hate her parents that much. Sure, she would grieve upon their deaths and then later grow not to care, but to say it so outwardly made it awkward.

As Ondina went on, explaining the differences between porcelain and pale and even at her question, Bryelle felt another eye-roll incoming. She managed to maintain her facial expression, not wanting the dragon within the room to burn down the store because of her attitude. Merlin, why had Renard made such a mistake? Faffing about within the changing room as she carefully got into the dress, Bryelle silently mimicked Ondina's words, even going as far as mimicking her scoff in her mind. Though the material and the colour of the dress was lovely, it sat a little loose in some areas. Walking out and being essentially dragged to face herself in the mirror also proved that.

Examining Ondina through the full length mirror, Bryelle waited for the judgements and the critiques and so they came. "So the straps would sit here?.." She questioned, pointing towards the area just under her shoulders. It would accentuate her collarbones no less, and would be fine if paired with the right jewellery. But of course this was not her wedding. The Goyle hummed at the remainder of Ondina's colours, as for once they actually could agree with one another. But Bryelle did not want to admit that of course. "Is this the only one I'm trying on?"

THE TERSE SILENCE FROM BRYELLE FELT ALMOST like a protest. Ondina imagined her weaponizing her silence, and she despised it. Ondina's preferred method of battle had always been verbal, she loved the thrill of a sharp back and forth. If Bryelle denied her as much she'd be quite put out. It reflected in her sour expression, the way her fingernails instinctively dug half moons into her arms where they were crossed. And then Bryelle stepped out from behind the curtain and Ondina's simmering disappointment was briefly assuaged.

The aesthetics of it appealed to her. Ondina had been much like any other little girl. It didn't matter that her wedding would be nothing but a monetary farce, what mattered was that Ondina would wear a pretty dress at a luxurious venue. And everybody, absolutely everybody, would be looking at her. And she thought vainly, the green was perfect to emphasize her own extravagance. Bryelle broke her vow of silence reluctantly, drawing Ondina's attention to the curve of her shoulder.

"Yes, about there." She agreed with a nod, pinching Bryelle's shoulder just a little as she imagined a thicker satin strap that would droop just so. She imagined a light shimmer to the skin as well, to off set Bryelle's dullness. And when she stepped back for a better perspective, she blinked in surprise as Bryelle spoke again. This time, her tone was filled with childish hope. "You thought this would be it?" She crowed, enjoying the quiet destruction of the girl's foolish expectations. "No, I have at least another three you must try on." She lifted a hand, calling for the seamstress with a click of her long, painted fingernails. "Bring in the next one, with the dropped shoulder." She demanded, and the seamstress gave a nod before scuttling off. "Better get back in there," She jutted her chin towards the curtained fitting room. "I'll pass in the next."

REMAINING SILENT HAD PROVED TO be the better choice, the result of it being evident enough on Ondina's face. It almost brought a smirk to the Goyle's lips, but knowing she wanted to irritate her future-sister-in-law a little more, she remained dead-pan, following the Weasley's instructions and heading in to change into the dress.

But now as the younger Goyle stood in front of the mirror, brows furrowing a little from the pinch on her shoulder. Biting on her tongue to refrain from insulting Ondina for the action, she instead nodded, envisioning how the dress would look with its finishing touches. Giving in and groaning quietly as Ondina mentioned there was more to try on, the younger Goyle's eyes wandered as the seamstress returned from Ondina's clicks. Merlin, she was already praying for her brother's mental and physical wellbeing.

Finding no reason to refuse - especially since it was Ondina's wedding after all, Bryelle simply walked back towards the curtained fitting room, being careful to remove the first dress she was wearing and wait for the next. "So..why green?" She found herself asking, hand gently brushing against the material of the first dress. Deep down, the Goyle knew the answer, green was striking against the Weasley after all.

APPARENTLY THERE WAS A SHRED OF GOOD reason in the youngest Goyle. Though her face betrayed how little she enjoyed the entire ordeal, she said no more snide remarks to rankle Ondina's nastier tendencies. In fact, she was almost pleasantly silent as Ondina fiddled with the sleeve of the silken gown, not even deigning to make eye contact with Ondina when she peered at her reflection critically.

Nodding her head at the seamstress, she took the new dress and folded it carefully over the fitting room door, smoothing the fabric carefully as she did. Bryelle's voice echoed softly from behind the curtain, her confidence piquing with a cover to protect her from Ondina's ire. "Why not?" Ondina snapped back sharply, her face screwing up in displeasure. "What's wrong with green?" She asked a little softer, a petulant curl to her pursed mouth.

Stepping back, she let Bryelle come out from behind the curtain in the second style. Ondina knew immediately it wasn't appropriate, curling her lip in distaste as she twirled her finger and beckoned Bryelle back behind the curtain. "It's hideous, you look like an old squib." She scoffed in disgust and waved her hand at the seamstress, who appeared to read her mind as she appeared with the second fit with the same dropped shoulder. "A better fit, perhaps." She said wisely, and Ondina almost smiled. She enjoyed the attention to detail, the attention on herself more specifically.

"Plus, most of the wedding party are red heads." Ondina snickered, taking the previous dress back and resuming the conversation without pause. "You're going to stick out like a sore thumb, I might as well give you the best chance for a decent photograph." She teased, though she suspected privately that Bryelle would photograph quite well. She had a fine boned face and delicate enough features that would work in her favour. She did not say this to Bryelle.

"Besides," Ondina took a very careful seat on the nearest plush armchair facing the fitting room. "There's every chance my sister will shirk out of her duties." Ondina gave a gusty little sigh, appearing careless, but secretly gnawing away at the prospect of Harper finding some obscure metal related excuse not to come to her ill advised Pureblood union. They spent so much time at loggerheads, Ondina knew that Harper felt she had plenty reason to turn on her sister right before the wedding bells. "You may well be best dressed." She slumped briefly into the cushions behind her, watching her reflection shift before her as she crossed on leg and let it hang, her sharp heel teetering in place as she let it rock back and forth.

GIVEN THIS WASN'T HER WEDDING, Bryelle Goyle felt no reason to object to a few hours or a day by her brother's future wife's side. Sure, Ondina was as joyful as a charmed frog, but having the chance to try on pretty dresses - minus the comments from the Weasley of course - was enjoyable for the younger Goyle. As the next dress rested over the door, Bryelle prepared herself, taking the dress from the other side and putting it on. From first glance, the Goyle's lips turned upward, there was something...off about it.

"It was just a question.." Bryelle murmured, doing up the zip of the dress as she looked herself in the thin mirror once more. "Nothing's wrong..I kinda figured green would be a nice colour against your hair..but I was also just curious if there was another reason.." As the Goyle stepped out, smoothing the area near her stomach a little, her lips thinned as she listened to Ondina's comments. It wasn't long before Bryelle was ushered back behind the curtain, urged to remove the dress that made her look like a squib.

Rolling her eyes at the Weasley's scoff, Bryelle moved quickly, taking off the dress and carefully draping it on the door. There was no time wasted as it was swooped right up, probably handed over to the seamstress with a stern look from Ondina. Another dress was placed instead, and Bryelle took it carefully, noting the changes. Still green but fitted slightly tighter with a dropped shoulder. It was almost similar to the first in some way.

Putting it on and coming out from behind the curtain for Ondina's comments, the Gryffindor listened quietly. "If my hairs a problem..I can just use magic to have it red for the night.." Bryelle had fluctuated between light and dark brunette hair for years now and the colour she had finally settled upon was a soft blonde, leaning towards a light brunette.

"A decent photograph?..I photograph better than whatever you have in your head." That was one thing Bryelle knew she did right, she knew her angles. She loved photos, especially the kind that would move - and while the Goyle family didn't have many (due to the incompetence that was the Goyle parents), Bryelle cherished the ones she did have.

At the mention of Ondina's sister, Bryelle rose a brow. "Why would she do that?..It's..your wedding day?.." The Goyle knew she was teetering on the border between going too far and being too curious, but isn't that what siblings were for? To see and spend 'cherished' memories alongside them?
